Hi Everyone. Hope those of you with 'August' babies who have arrived are doing well and those of you still waiting are not going too stir crazy.
I said I'd write properly when home. I'm going to spare you all the details as it's been a total slog if I'm honest but we're finally finally home. I went in with the ambulance on 27th July then they started me off with the pessary. Told me I'd have another in 24 hours so wasn't expecting anything much to happen until the Friday possibly but the doc came back on Thursday and decided to just break my waters. So it all kicked off and I wasn't quite prepared for it. In fact, my husband wasn't even there at the hospital yet! Anyway, fast & intense & very medicalized labour. Epidural for BP, ventouse delivery, back to back baby, baby got bit distressed with dropping heart rate & I had episiotomy but wonderful midwife. I was so lucky to have her, I feel incredibly grateful.
Anyway, ended up staying in hospital for 7 days as Harry had to go in incubator with jaundice and they weren't happy with my bp but by Tuesday I'd seriously had enough and discharged myself against medical advice, after we knew baby was ok. It was truly awful. Had been under impression that was going to be discharged that morning but they kept me waiting all day (12 hours) and then my bp had gone up as I was getting stressed by the environment. I won't go into it as this will end up being an essay but I had probably two 40 minute naps in 48 hours or so after birth. I couldn't feed without getting chronic back ache in there and I just couldn't take it anymore, oh and I hadn't had anything to eat because you had to get it yourself and Harry was just feeding all the time. Food was utterly disgusting when did get it. Got home Tuesday night but they'd really scared me about my bp (was very high). I think lack of sleep & events really got to me as I spent a couple of days last week being utterly paranoid about my bp and being scared to death that I was going to end up having a seisure in the night. DH was pretty crappy last week too (yet another essay...!)
Anyway, gradually calmed down, they put my bp dose up again but then had to be readmitted because Harry's jaudice went up again. Spent another 2 days in there this weekend (3rd weekend in a row in hospital!) Thankfully, he is all fine now. .Had another test today and he's within acceptable limits. They no longer seem too concerned about my bp so I'm just seeing gp tomorrow about it.
So though I had him 10 days ago now, I feel like I've only just got him home. DH has taken to being a dad wonderfully well and little one is feeding well and doing fine. It's been 'emotional' as they say - PHEW!!!!! :)
