Congratulations Northern fab news

Ivy sorry you've had your applications rejected but becoming a doula could be a really good alternative.....

clareanna · 17/03/2011 17:34

Wonderful news northern! looking forward to hearing more details soon- welcome to the other side Grin

ivy Sad about your applications. Can you get any feedback? The best mw I saw was only 24 - she was brilliant really enthusiastic and helpful - I'm sure you'd be great as a mw or doula

pretty sorry to hear about the cankles and numb bits. Hope you're able to sort things at work so you can take it a bit easy?

nickstermum · 17/03/2011 19:44

orange cant believe you are not allowed to visit MW more often than that... wow! i feel blessed to be allowed a weekly visit even if they write "very anxious" :)

PV yey! 16+4 awesome! sorry its hurting though :( i have a hard baby in said belly toooo Grin likes to burrow deep in pelvis though but last night my tummy changed shape so it must have moved!! Feelingkicks all through the night now... ooooh and some rippling now as i type... must be picking up on Mum2be chatting to mum2be vibe Grin Can they get you a stool at work plus flat shoes?! Have you tried shoes that change the way you walk, fitflops i think one of the brands are..very comfy. Could help if you are suffering?

apples me? inspiring? what..hey? :) Tell you what i have felt so much more confident with myself - how strange is that? Have got some difficult meetings and conversations coming up so it can only help! Glad you feel better about yourself. Shall i let you into a secret.... need to shave my legs though Blush black tights all the way hehe

NORTHERN huuuuuge congrats on baby boys arrival xxx well done on the home birth, sounds wonderful xx Ooooh lia, not long now xx

viv only a stone & a half....eek... did that in first month :) Envy of the bowling ball bump... I am long bodied so mine is a touch more elongated! Twil be here before you know it my love... not long til you can put your feet up for a bit!

Ivy rubbish news about MW, hope you can find some info about doula-ing. seems to be a high demand these days :)

Has anyone heard from louise recently? Hope you are doing ok chic xxx

CaribouMoo · 17/03/2011 20:15

Congratulations Northern on the safe arrival of your little boy! Looking forward to hearing your full story when you get the chance. Go Lia!!

Pretty I've had full on cankles since 12 weeks. They are particularly horrendous today. Viv I'm not fed up yet but felt bone weary getting home tonight. A fellow commumter took pity on me lugging my bulk off the train tonight, patted me on the shoulder and said 'don't worry, not long now!'. On the weight front I am now 4 lbs heavier than I was full term with DD.......

Ivy sorry to hear about the knockbacks, that is demoralising. Hope you get good info from Lia's link.

Orange that's ace you heard a hearbeat! That will put your mind at rest for a wee while and fill the gap. Good you can go back too if you need to.

Clare I feel like I am not prepared for birth at all. I have no experience from DD with her being a planned section. At least with DD though I was reading books, going to classes - even DH came to one with me to practice the breathing and support etc. That was 4 yrs ago so really hazy. I'll need to get a book or some of those hypno birth CDs, something to get me in the zone and thinking about it again. I don't know why my MW keeps going on about a section and is telling me nothing about preparing for a VBAC. She has mentioned twice getting booked in for my section and at my next appointment she told me its still not too late to plump for one. All very bizarre and not inspiring much confidence in my ability to give birth naturally! I'll check out the forum, thanks for that.

Ok, so my Dad's side of the family are from Ireland and I'm married to an Irishman. Until I logged onto facebook tonight I had forgotten it was St Patrick's day. That's shocking!! All because i won't be enjoying a wee St Paddy's drink tonight

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 17/03/2011 20:23

Congratulations Northern! Lovely day to be born as is my birfday too! Oooooo Lia top of the list now lady!

Sorry bout your applications Ivy, good luck with the Doula side of things, I am sure there is demand everywhere.

Ahhh Orange so lubbberly! hearing that heartbeat at 16 weeks and great that they will see you again before 20 weeks.

Hugs to Prettypretty and wombat with your achey bits.

Viv full sympathy about feeling big and OMG only 1 & 1/2 stone and not until nearly 20 weeks!! Blush at my nearly 4 stone magiccakebump! My friend had chosen the same boys name as us (they new they were having a boy) but I decided I would use it regardless, however was not a problem as pinks popped out. When I was pg with DD2 I was asked by someone we knew not to use a few names as she wanted them Hmm

Big wave to Clare Nix Penguin apple loops Toomuch owl Alba and everyone I have missed!

xxxx

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 17/03/2011 20:26

Xposts - Hey Moo are you feeling better now hun? x

OrangeGloss · 18/03/2011 06:59

Nix my MW isn't rude, but not the most acting of person, but at least I have a stop-gap :) so Envy of you feeling kicks

Moo did you watch everyone else drink a pint of Guiness? I did while drinking my now customary blackcurrant juice

Magic we're in the position that another couple who aren't trying are bagsying names as we think of them Hmm

is it wrong that after yesterday I feel quite relaxed now? Am sure it'll wear off in a couple of days weeks

owlbooty · 18/03/2011 09:29

Tis good, Orange , enjoy it :) I found I was calm for about a week after hearing the hb at 16 weeks. Then it wore off and I started stressing about the 20 week scan.

I bet you the couple who are not trying but bagsying names will completely change their minds about what names they do want when they start trying anyway so I'd ignore them Grin . I had all sorts of ideas for names but they've all gone in the bin now and I've got one lined up that was never on the list before.

Ivy bugger, sorry you've had no luck with the applications. I'd definitely try and get feedback. The really annoying thing is, loads of people start the course then drop out because it's too hard for them or not what they expected, which kind of suggests the course leaders don't always make the best choices about who should be on it in the first place.

Moo That's so unhelpful when surely they should be promoting VBAC anyway? Unless there's a medical reason why you can't go for it, in which case they should have told you that. Maybe worth ringing up your community MW team for a chat? If you get lucky you might end up talking to one of the others who would be more helpful.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 18/03/2011 11:08

Thanks guys. Got my feedback today, and it basically says "you did nothing wrong, but there are no places" something about it being because of availability not ability. Sigh. The gutting thing is that it was my second year applying already, and last year I was pretty much told the same.

on a brighter note, I've started mario-ing the kids room now all the base colours are done, and the geek inside me squeals with excitement every time I set a foot in the room. Who doesn't love mario and toad?

orange enjoy the relaxed days. I still wake up every morning and nervously wait for the first kick of the day.

magic how are the spiderbabies getting on?

Moo I have a lovely hypno course with loads of mp3s and a pdf that I bought before I had DS. lemme know if you wanna have a go at it.

nicks I've gone a step further - wooly tights! H&M do a ribbed knitted version, they are lovely and warm and go all the way over your bump. I do try to shave my legs sometimes, but shaving foam makes my skin burn, and even conditioner leaves a rash. At least the hair has become so fine with this pregnancy it's not horrendous.

Lia you have mail :)

louise thinking of you... ~hugs~

I'm off to do some more Mario-ing :o

stuffedmk · 18/03/2011 11:34

Yey Northern Big congrats!!!

So now I'm only third Shock although have to say am with you Lia totally ready

PinkFondantFancy · 18/03/2011 19:23

Ivy sorry again you didn't have better luck, hopefully it's a small comfort it was nothing you did or didn't do

Yay for Pink zen and being added to the list Grin

Loopy quite right! Glad you have no clashes, that could have been a tough one

I'm feeling a bit :( this morning, I had a row with dh last night about him being annoying whilst drunk and me sober. Unfortunately he was drunk and annoying at the time. I realised I was getting wound up and said to leave it for the night, but now I'm worrying I've hurt orangebean, I felt a bit achy but had just been sick. One arguement won't have any lasting effect will it?

PinkFondantFancy · 19/03/2011 07:11

ivy that's dreadful, so sorry. I agree with loopy-we're always being told there's a shortage, then they won't train anyone! Ridiculous. Are you still thinking about your doula plan?

orange :( try not to worry-I was really stressed at work a couple of weeks ago and I asked the dr if I was hurting the baby. He said that although stress is bad for me it can't hurt the baby. DHs are v annoying when they are drunk. And they have horrible booze breath and snore and fart. It might be worth having a chat when you're both in a good mood-my DH actually offered to sleep in the other room when he came home after some beers the other night following on from a tequila induced row a few weeks ago... :)

OrangeGloss · 19/03/2011 07:36

Thanks Pink Grin makes me feel better. He's just been very sweet despite being woken up early so am trying to channel some zen again. Good to hear you have a thoughtful dh, I bet they just don't realise they're annoying with beer goggles on :)

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 19/03/2011 08:45

thanks PFF, Orange and Loopy. It does make me feel a little better, because it means I don't have to keep going over every little word I said. But it makes me sad because I did my best, and it counts for nothing because our prime minister won't hold to his word and employ 3000 mode midwives during his tenure.

PFF i'm currently discussing hosting a doula course at my house with the lovely people Lia put me in touch with :)

orange I echo PFF try not too worry.
I tell my DH on a regular basis that I hate him when he's drunk, that I can't stand the smell of it on him, or the way he acts, even if he tries to act normally. He has been very good lately.

It's dawning on me more and more how close I'm getting... I think monday I will have reached the day that my waters started leaking with DS! Shock

lia66 · 19/03/2011 09:41

Morning all.. quiet in these parts these days. Lovely sunny morning again...

20 week scan today.....Grin and the little blighter has been belting me all night. :) Heres hoping for a successful scan :)

Any news from the top end of the list?

have had a lovely sunny weekend eating lots of ice cream and attacking the garden, which is in serious need of attention (not the one of the lady variety i might add)

Ivy i have also kind of remembered how to crochet..although attempt 1 looks more like a doily than a baby blanket Grin

owlbooty · 21/03/2011 10:08

Good luck today Nix !

Pink splendid news on the badly-behaved PinkBean :)

*Nix I am also getting properly booted in the guts now. Tis lovely :)
