Nicks re relaxing and enjoying your pregnancy... I found the natal hypnotherapy pregnancy relaxation CD really helped, if you have any 30min slots of time to listen to it (I had a train commute that was perfect)... Added bonus, it preps for the birth hypnosis stuff too, and it's only about £12. That's cheap therapy!

Lia very impressed at trial run! Did it take long to fill?

Hello Jolls!

lia66 · 09/03/2011 11:48

Ladies, sadly we are all here as we know what it's like to be at the recieving end of Mother Nature's cruel streak, therefore I think you can never really relax until you have that healthy little baby in your arms.

That said, this time goes so quickly, (not for me though! Angry) that I think sometimes we do actually have to make a concerted effort to try and enjoy it, I think your dad is very wise nix what a lovely thing to say to you.

jolls Wink would we think that? We love you.

owl I have suddenly got huge I think and putting my boots on is actually really uncomfortable, oh the dignities of late pg.

Been for my 38 wk growth scan today and baby is roughly 8lb 11 but very low so head wasn't measured as accurately as it could have been sonographer said. Every other measurement is off the scale. Thats very normal for me so not concerned, would just like it out now though. Has hair too, saw that floating in the fluid. :)

Had rough night of bh last night, enough to keep waking me up, not enough to bloody do anything, agggghhh Plus dH snoring like a stuck pig Angry

So, all in all, I'm ready now.

alba took 2 hours start to me getting in in my cossie, (kids all thought this was hilarious)and having to top up with pans. Have borrow 3x 6 lt pans now though so that'll cut time by about 20 mins I reckon. Thats fine. Bring it on.

northern how are you?

Hope everyone else well, off to hoover stairs now,

PenguinsMummy · 09/03/2011 11:52

It is definitely true that the futher you progress into your pregnancy and are having regular movement, the less mentalling you do - but it never totally disappears Grin

Had my 34 week MW check this morning and even though I had movement a second before she put the doppler on my bump, you still hold your breath waiting to hear the heart beating away. Thankfully, my growth has slowed down to normal range now - am only measuring 2 weeks ahead as opposed to the 5 weeks ahead that they measured last time so big relief and looks like the ELCS will be at 39 weeks. See the consultant in 2 weeks time, then the MW again at 38 weeks and then the ELCS at 39 - EEEKKK!!! It's all becoming a bit real now!! In 5 weeks time, I'm going to be having a baby!!!

After I finish work this week, I really need to get my large behind in gear and start sorting the baby stuff out.............after I've had a few days rest of course Wink

northerngoldilocks · 09/03/2011 16:24

Hi everyone, still here and no sign of anything happening. Had midwife appt this afternoon - all fine - heartbeat normal, measuring bang on for dates - baby head down and 2/5 engaged. Having more BH - thankfully Lia mine aren't painful - just like something is gripping the outside of my bump.

Am not feeling ready to have this baby yet though - sure in a week all will have changed, right now I still have stuff to sort out - although since I stopped going to the gym my feet have started to get puffy and are actually a bit sore - top tip to everyone who's newly joining this group - keep exercising - it goes rapidly downhill once you stop!! I've been swimming this morning and for a walk and trying to do yoga each day, but it doesn't seem to be the same.

nickstermum · 09/03/2011 17:53

Good stuff,, just had a check up. Wriggling around under the doppler, good strong hb (after a few seconds of held breath!) Downs bloods came back v low risk - another milestone achieved Grin

Next stop halfway there Grin

PrettyVacant1 · 09/03/2011 19:02

I had the quadruple test and my downs came back low risk too Smile
I'm in that inbetween stage of not seeing anyone for another 5 weeks and not feeling anything either. Hmm
I'm tempted to get a doppler of my own, is it worth it?

I seem to have weird Wednesdays, I've had a banging headache all day, I'm feeling quite sorry for myself and I'm in a terrible mood.
I managed to tip a cup of boiling hot tea all over myself before.
I stripped off, wiped the tea off the floor with my t shirt put my clothes in the washing machine and burst into tears Blush
Lavverly sight for DP to come home to, half nekkid biatch grouch with red eyes and half a roll of wet Bounty on her tummy.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 09/03/2011 19:07

had two really crappy days, my employer was a pain in the arse about giving me my SMP1 form so I could send my MA claim off, so I opened a dispute with HMRC. She's now making my life hell, or trying to.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

and people keep telling me I'm fat.

CaribouMoo · 09/03/2011 21:06

Well I'll join in the grumpfest. I've had atrocious bottom bother since Sunday night (the immobilizing kind that grips you all of a sudden, chronic stomach pain, sweats, bloating, trapped wind), had to deal with those episodes in work whilst trying to maintain dignity emerging from toilet cubicles and now poor DD is vomitting all over the shop!!

OrangeGloss · 10/03/2011 06:52

Loopy thanks for those words, they really struck a chord with me. Glad you have more movement again
Nix your parents sound wonderful :) Envy And good news on the results
lia how lovely seeing hair. I'm sure it will be soon enough already
PV I just had a scan to tide me over til my 16 week MW as 5 weeks was too long, is your next you 20 week scan? Could your MW sneak you in for a listen? I'm curious about Doppler, but worried if I couldn't get it to work it would send me into a panic. I wonder if any of these ladies has used one. My DH is sadly getting used to such behaviour Blush have taken to crying for no discernable reason
Moo sounds like you're having a mare! Is there anything you can take? And poor DD too

DH told me last night I am now looking pg. I spent about an hour googling what women look like at my stage, and think I just might. I expected a bump to start small, but it seems from my ribs down is a-changing. I suppose the extra uterus size would push everything else out of the way... :)

lucysnowe · 10/03/2011 10:58

Hi guys

Have been keeping a low profile over the last few days. Am sympathising with the pregnancy fear nickster and others, it's very very stupid I know but this morning I had a smidgen of brown blood, for the first time this pg, and now I am bricking it. I know brown blood is usually okay but that's how my last m/c started. Very very little brown blood, very very little red blood, then I had the scan, and got the bad news. Was feeling so chuffed about my lovely scan and telling everyone (and buying loads of maternity jeans) and now I am completely freaked again.

GAHHHH!! bloody body bloody pregnancy (excuse the pun). I will phone the m/w tomorrow (she is only in on Fridays) but, really, is it enough to ask for a scan? or at 14 weeks can I ask for a heartbeat? My 15 week checkup is next week but I'm not sure if I can wait that long. It's taken us so long to conceive after the last m/c, if this one goes wrong as well, it just seems as though there's no point continuing. Sorry for gloom. Sad I just feel so angry and depressed. Sorry guys.

owlbooty · 10/03/2011 11:40

Lucy I would ask for a scan. I suspect they will not be able to reliably find a hb with doppler that early and understandably you are stressing lots which is not good for you therefore pressing for a scan would be fair enough if it could put your mind at rest again.

I hope it is nothing - as you say it's brown and that is old blood but as others have said on here, once you've had a loss the knicker-checking never stops. :( I shall keep everything crossed for you.

PV I'm not convinced by the dopplering thing. At 16 week appt my MW had quite a job finding it with her high-powered device, then a week later I borrowed my SIL's doppler and after a huge amount of faffing found a hb for about 2 seconds - that was it. A week later I had another MW appt and she found it immediately. I think for me a doppler would cause more stress than calmingness but everyone is different. You could, however, ring your MW and ask her if it would be okay given your medical history, to pop in for a quick doppler fix with her? That is what I did and it was very reassuring.

Although now I am 18 + and awaiting Monday's scan I am feeling the stress rising by the minute because I have not felt any movement for a day or two. I know he's probably just buggered off into my pelvis for a bit but still, can't help worrying. Bugger.

Moo - hope your innards have stopped falling out Grin

Ivy - cheeky bastards! Tell them that at least you have a good excuse.

lucysnowe · 10/03/2011 11:49

Thanks owl. I am scared of scans. Shock But you are probably right. Will phone and see what they say tomorrow. Thanks and sorry to moan.

Sorry you are stressing about movements, more FEAR. Smile I expect your bub is, as you say, having a little explore. You could always try the usual remedy, a really cold glass of something sugary, and see if that wakes him up.

owlbooty · 10/03/2011 12:15

Scans are indeed scary; I know exactly what you mean. Tis not moaning anyway, we are all here to prop each other up. :)

I reckon a massivehuge iced latte might get him going again but suspect I won't be able to find one at this time of year - boo.

lucysnowe · 10/03/2011 14:22

A double espresso with extra ice and whipped cream sounds nice. Might make you both a bit hyper though. Smile

I think some people don't feel movements till 24 weeks, 18 weeks is pretty good I think?

I phoned the EPU and they said at 14 weeks the m/w should be able to use the doppler, so I've booked for tomorrow. I hope she's good at using it or my anxiety is just going to double (or bad news be prolonged). Also, I think I have to bring my DD along to the appointment, not ideal.

Meanwhile, I have to do a poo but am too scared Blush

clareanna · 10/03/2011 20:06

Hi all- just popping on with sympathy for Lucy and owl.
Lucy my mw couldn't find hb at 16 wks so please go in there not fearig the worst if your mw can't find it- just push for a scan

owl have you tried ice cold water / sugary drinks / sweets to get owlbaby moving? I'm sure all is ok, but I know how you feel I had total movement paranoia too!

LUCY go into see the mw with a full bladder, it helps to push it out a bit for the dopplerisation! Agree with clare, also a lot can depend on how slim you are round that area as to whether they can pick it up.Everything crossed :) am sure it will be fine. I had watery brown bleed at 14 weeks - unexplained, but it was all fine :)

loopy get dusting those skirting boards x

PV i have been banned from self dopplering!

lucysnowe · 11/03/2011 09:50

Thanks clare Loopy and nickster. I'm afraid I'm just using this thread for the bad times but your comments really help. nickster thanks, good advice about the full bladder. With my first pg, the m/w found a heartbeat at 10 weeks (!) but obviously two pgs on my tummy is not what it is - and the baby might be in a different position. I assume if she can't hear anything, she'll refer me.

Horribly stressful tho, for her and for me. Also because it's short notice I have to take DD along. Sad

stuffedmk · 11/03/2011 12:09

Loopy Bubs has been transverse off and on for a while but at 36 week appt yesterday I was told he is definitely now head down and has dropped about half way so unlikely to go back to sideways, there's still time for you, fingers crossed she shifts soon for you.

Lucy hope you can get some reassurance.

PenguinsMummy · 11/03/2011 14:59

Hi All,

Northern & Lia - Hope all is going well for you both - so close now!!

Ivy - Tell them all to bugger off - what do they expect when you are 34 weeks pregnant!!!

Moo - Hope you're feeling much better

Owl & Lucy - Best of luck with the scans - FX

This is my last day at work and feels very strange and makes everything all very real. My team have been lovely and got me a card, flowers and a present. Here comes maternity leave!!!

lucysnowe · 11/03/2011 15:54

Thanks guyz.

Well the full bladder did the trick - heard lovely heartbeat (was desperate for a wee tho!). Also I think I almost certainly am feeling movements (not just wind) so am hoping that if the bleeding continues I will be a bit reassured. Hopefully there'll be no more...

nickstermum · 11/03/2011 16:07

Good stuff lucy!

Im knitting!! Hows that for relaxing....? A baby blanket Grin

owlbooty · 11/03/2011 16:32

Penguin enjoy your maternity leave!
