Just a quickie to welcome wombat Lovely to see you over here sweetie. Any chance you can drag any of the others over with you?!

owl congrats on the boy!! Boys is the best!

Oh, and orange I saw on another thread we're from the same neck of the woods!

Sorry for not doing a proper catch up but I've finally given up fighting DS's cold...and it's a rotter!

nickstermum · 14/03/2011 18:04

boys r ace!!! did you get the old winkie shot owls? I remember DS's scan pick, there was no mistaking it!! Wouldnt know what to do with a gal!

clareanna · 14/03/2011 18:14

congrats owl lovely news! glad to see wombat here too!

PinkFondantFancy · 14/03/2011 19:49

Hello everyone! I'm not completely convinced about this but I think I'm feeling confident enough now to pop my head round the door of the grads thread.... I'm 12w today, and had a scan last Friday after a pink spotting scare and all was good at the scan with a little kicking bouncing baby with a little nose! I've got the proper dating and NT scan on Friday so I'm keeping everything desperately crossed until then.

Yay pink for having the confidence to grad! I'm still being a lurky lurker until I've had my 12 week scan (which I'm having at 12 + 5 so still another couple of weeks to go)

PenguinsMummy · 15/03/2011 07:59

Congrats on the scan Owl!

Loving being on maternity leave especially when DD1&2 are in nursery and I get to go back to bed Grin

OrangeGloss · 15/03/2011 08:25

Owl that's fab news and confirmed what you thought :) :)

apples ahh tis a good area, except this week when the Out Of Towners take over! Actually I hope I'm better for Friday as is normally a good night. Never done it sober though...

Pink and Dachs too, this is exciting :)

I'm currently in bed with a cold, which isn't too bad, but bad enough I know I need to look after myself. I think week 15-ish is the same for everyone though, a bit in limbo?

Wombat33 · 15/03/2011 10:19

Thanks for the welcommes Smile Good to see Pink and Dachs here too.

Apple I'll have a go at encouraging others, but given I'm only just making tentative steps at 14+3, I'm not exactly in a strong negotiating position Wink

Peguin ooh to be on mat leave already Envy. I should have been going on leave about now for the bean I lost - that's not helping my levels of motivation at work!!!

Question for you all - when did you tell work you were pg? I haven't yet and am wondering. Got annual reviews coming up and I don't know whether to fess up before that (so they know why my productivity has crashed through the floor) or leave it until afterwards, in case the knowledge that I'm about to disappear for a year impacts negatively on my review.

Loopy SHOPPING!!! Now that's something I'm so going to enjoy! Might wait until after the 20 week scan, or maybe 24 weeks to start that though (although search for a house is already on!!).

Orange hope the cold clears soon. I think I'm coming down with something too. Let's hope it's short-lived. Can I please wait until my scan in 8 days' time to join the list? Promise I'll do it then if all's okay!

OrangeGloss · 15/03/2011 11:45

Wombat seeing as it's you....go on then you can wait Grin I have to say I'm technically on the list but still hang around both rooms! My work know but had to tell them after my 3 week absence in Jan, I think it depends on the culture tho, it's pretty damn good at mine I have to say

VivClicquot · 15/03/2011 12:22

Hurray hurray hurray to all the newly grads - I'd been thinking to myself that our list was dwindling (partly from a fear of just how close I am to the top!) so am glad you've all taken the plunge and come on board :)

owl - big congrats on being Team Blue!

wombat - I told work around the 18/19 week mark. Partly because we didn't even tell my parents and friends until around the 15 week mark due to my history etc, but secondly, because I wanted to get through our annual pay rise and bonus discussions first! While I know there are laws against this kind of thing, I didn't want to give them any opportunity to scale back my pay rise after I'd been given indications at my appraisal that I'd had an excellent year, so had my formal meeting with my boss to discuss it, and as soon as I'd been given written confirmation of what was what, I told her I had some news... Grin

nickstermum · 15/03/2011 12:22

YEY to all of you feeling brave :)

20 week scan next monday... can you believe it? Having dragged so slowly in the first tri, im nearly halfway there :) Still undecided as to whether to find out or not.......

Am not moaning...

However....

Am fecking exhausted!
Anyone else in bed for 8.30 each night?

Knitting is going well but i cannot remember how to crochet... google here we come!

owlbooty · 15/03/2011 13:46

Yes, Nix , I was so tired last night I was in bed by 9 - blooming? blooming my arse. I'm fooked.

Penguin maternity leave sounds fabulous, so nice you've had a chance to put your feet up :)

Wombat I told my boss fairly immediately (as she already knew about the mc previously) and have only started telling a few other people this week post 20 week scan. I really don't stick out that much so absolutely nobody has noticed :) I think if you've got reviews coming up I'd leave it til after that. After all, if I recall right you don't actually need to tell them til 25 weeks?

In other news I have bought some teeny tiny socks and a set of gorgeous teeny tiny vest thingies from M&S. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

CaribouMoo · 15/03/2011 20:28

Hi everyone - and welcome Wombat, looking forward to seeing more of you after next Wednesday. I remember you well from the TTC thread, good on you for taking the leap. I told my boss pretty early which helped avoid some high pressure situations, plus she knew about my history and was really good about it. I didn't tell everyone else at work until over 15 weeks, but i think they had all guessed by then!

Pink its great to see you too pal, one good scan down and another on Friday - let us know how you get on x Dachs we'll keeep a spot warm for you and your little beans too!

Owl hurray on your scan and on finding out you are team blue too! That's great about your purchases, you must be getting excited! I have bought the wee man some sheets for his moses, some blankets and a fancy new Mamas & Papas cradle and play gym. He'll get most of DDs old things (except for clothes!) so its nice to splurge on some new things for him. I hadn't thought about those little socks though, maybe I will get some of those too...

Nicks how can you be half way there already, amazing! Mind you, how can I be 31 weeks tomorrow!

Sorry to keep updating on my bowel woes but I think I may be better. 2 days since last incident and very pleased with myself indeed about that. Hope everyone with the cold gets better - DD has a stinking one again so no doubt I'll be in for another bout!

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 15/03/2011 20:41

yay for all the new dufferood brave people :)
welcome!

I have a brain like a sieve at the moment, I think it was littlemiss with the low pain? that's exactly how my SPD started.. my midwife did me a physio referral today.

penguin my due date buddy, I wish I could go back to bed.. anyone want my DS for a while? he is soo lovely, but because he doesn't have bedroom curtains yet, he wakes up with the sun.

owl congrats on your boy! boys are fab!!

moo glad things are looking better. sorry about the colds. lots of sage tea with honey and lemon and paracetamol have been a godsend for me while pregnant. (sage tea is AMAZING for sore throats!)

wow nicks time flies!

midwife is coming round next tuesday for a homebirth visit. it's just dawned on me that this is ACTUALLY happening. wow.
we've decided on boys names today, but I'm not telling yet. For girls we still have a list of 5, with three of them being favourites for first names, and 2 for second. Of course, DH knows full well that one of those lots is useless, but he still hasn't let slip if bump is blue or pink :o

I'm still crocheting like mad, little jumpers and hats now!

nickstermum · 15/03/2011 20:48

Ivy i am knitting, but i cannot remember how to crochet! all i want to do is a blanket of little multicoloured squares! Suggestions pliz? Names....? cant think of any! boys struggling with more.

Owl Grin at hte shopping, best bit! We have all DS stuff.... so wont be buying much. Needs blankets etc and want a rocking wooden crib this time rather than a moses as DS was only in his for 3 weeks last time. (hence the knitting and huge bag of wool!)

Moo - 31 weeks Whoop :) have you figured out delivery yet, or shouldnt i mention?

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 16/03/2011 16:08

where has everyone gone?

nicks if you want to crochet squares, google "granny squares" - easy :)

names? www.babynamesworld.com is what we used for inspiration. I think I've literally looked through every single name on there. we made a list each, then compared, eliminated and combined, then eliminated again until we were left with what we have now.

PenguinsMummy · 16/03/2011 16:22

Impressed with all the knitting & crocheting!

Had DD2 sent home poorly from nursery today but obviously was fine when I took her to the drs this afternoon - sods law! Was supposed to be meeting a friend for lunch who is due in 2 wks - hopefully we'll have time to rearrange Grin

Off to a wedding 2 hrs from home this weekend so have been thinking I should really get round to packing a hospital bag - just in case!

OrangeGloss · 16/03/2011 16:23

Moo good to hear you're settling down :)

Ivy I'm impressed at the crocheting, I bet Tuesday's appointment will certainly make things real

We can only think of boys names, can't agree on girls. We want a surprise so I suppose we'll need to be prepared for both!

Question for all you ladies, I'm just gone 15 weeks and feel a bit in limbo, MS gone, v.small bump no movement yet of course. How did everyone else feel?

Wombat33 · 16/03/2011 16:30

I feel in limbo too Orange. And I'm suddenly eating for Britain! 14+4, little bit of a tubby tummy but not really a bump and the scales say I haven't yet put on any weight at all. Before you all start lobbing fish at me, it's quite unnerving - there was definately a baby there 2 weeks ago but if baby's growing, why aren't I?!

Penguin enjoy the wedding - hopefully the little one will let you party in peace!

Ivy I haven't even started thinking about names yet. Quite excited about the prospect but no idea how on earth we'll ever reach a decision! DH keeps joking that if it's a boy it's going to be called Tarquin Hmm

CaribouMoo · 16/03/2011 16:45

We are really hard up for names for the wee man. With DD we had 5 strong favourite girls names and when she arrived made a decision on what suited her most. Had she been a boy I think she would have had no name for days.

Right now there is a single boy's name that I have always liked, which DH will accept but doesn't feel the same way - and that's it! The poor wee soul, I had better get looking. I've already gone through a book which was pants.

Nicks I don't know what I'm doing. Supposed to be having a VBAC but MW mentions a section every time I see her. Other than that no one has asked anything about it. I feel a bit lost, as last time with DD I was going to classes and thinking lots about it. I feel a bit out of my depth at the moment.

CaribouMoo · 16/03/2011 16:48

Orange and Wombo, meant to say I struggled at that point too. Once the MS stopped there were a good 5 or 6 weeks before I felt movement and it was really hard going. Also I had become a scan junkie so paid for a private one at 18 weeks to ease my mind. Its a hard stage, you just need to keep believing.

littlemiss72 · 16/03/2011 17:08

Hello ladies, many thanks for the advice! Seems I'm heading down the pelvic pain route Hmm good news is it's covered on my work private health insurance and I have a physio appointment booked for next Monday.

Lovely to see so many new grads, many congrats to you all Grin those weeks in between the first scan and MS diminishing certainly leave you wondering however you must keep positive.

At 25+5 wks now and have a right little dancer wriggling away inside me, I love it and can't wait to meet my little one. Work has been tough of recent, certainly taken it's toll. I've decided to leave early and start maternity leave at the end of April. Like a sentence right now I'm counting the days!

Love to all x

owlbooty · 16/03/2011 17:14

Womble Yep; 15 weeks is a bit shitey. I had a MW appt at 15+ and heard heartbeat so that was my 'goal' but it's very hard when you have basically no symptoms and no bump to speak of. I also put on no weight at that point.

So I had MW at 15 weeks, then snuck back at 17 weeks for another doppler fix, then had scan at 19+1. But in between, I mainly mentalled. Grin

Moo Ah, what a helpful MW. Some forthright speaking may be required perhaps? But you have 6 weeks minimum before the little 'un is likely to turn up so plenty of time to do things in a leisurely fashion. :)

appleblossoms · 16/03/2011 17:17

whoop whoop! More freakout grads appearing. The list has been a bit top heavy of late...really lovely to see you brave enough to come over, even if it's just to dabble your toes. And don't worry about continuing with the mentalling, we've all been there and will slap you with a large fish give you cups of tea and stroke your hair until you feel better Grin

we've only been here a couple of years orange, and last year was the first time I'd been in town for the races. I was amazed at how every other person in town was Irish! 'Tis the closest I've come to visiting Ireland, and loved seeing everyone hanging around outside the pubs with their guiness at 11am! Wink

wombat I told my boss really early, at 8 weeks after my first scan...but that's because he knew all about my mmc, and I wanted him to know what was going on in case it happened again. And also we're only a small organisation with just 7 people working there so we're all pretty close.

Can't believe you're TWENTY weeks nicks, how did that happen?! Really hope you enjoy your scan on monday....are you going to find out the sex??? I've got my knitting out too, found a baby sleeping bag thing I started for DS..but he came earlier than I was expecting (40+1) so it ended up unfinished...I'm hoping to get in done in time for this baby!

owl you got me all broody with mention on little socks and little vests. I'm going to get DS's baby clothes down from the top shelf this weekend I think and go through them...it's his 2nd birthday on Sunday, so might be a fun time to go through them!

Glad you're beginning to get a bit better moo, you've really been suffering recently. Hope you get some healthy time really soon!!

Ivy I can't believe your DH hasn't let it slip?! I wasn't going to tell anyone what we were having and I keep finding myself telling anyone who asks...like the lady in the postoffice or the nurse who took my bloods! Grin. Your DH must be VERY good at keeping secrets, and you must be SO restrained not to break down and beg to be told!

orange and wombat I found it really hard in that period too...there's not much you can do other than sit it out... and wombat apparently a later appearing bump is due to stronger stomach muscles...mine are totally non-existant and I popped quite early. My SIL has always been superfit and she only had a tiny bump at 16 weeks.

I'm feeling MUCH better now, cold is all gone, hurray! But a word of wisdom to you first-timers....do your pelvic floor exercises whenever you think about it... sneezing with no pelvic floor muscles is not much fun! Blush

I'm getting all excited now about hopefully having a baby to hold in the summer. Trying to think through what I need to get ready...DH says we have to wait until April before he'll let me get anything new, not long now!

Sorry for the mahooosif post, now I'm feeling better again will try and post shorter ones more regularly! Wink
