Hi all, (big waves to those I know) I am no where near ready to graduate (only 4+4) and praying this one sticks. Hoped you wouldn't mind if I stuck my head round the door every now and then over the next few weeks if I need to for some advice/words of wisdom/reassurance)?

Thanks clare this probably sounds ridiculous but I don't want to tempt fate I've booked a private scan for a bit further down the road so if me and bean make it to that in one piece will def jump on the waiting list

Dorcas with DD I started worrying about how on earth I was going to get a baby out of me - I was petrified!! I think after the first trimester you settle into pregnancy a bit and carry on oblivious for all those months until the reality sets in towards the end. Completely normal - as is an iron defficiency which I got with DD too. Nothing to beat yourself up about.

Buffy i thought I was bad going from pre-pregnancy DD to an F cup!! You may recall a few weeks ago I mocked the Bravissimo assistant who tried to get me in FFs, well I'm now bursting out of my F cups so was clearly in denial. DH was fondly reminiscing about my pert pre-pregnancy C cups of yester year a few nights ago. I told him if he ever wants to see them again he's going to have to start saving for a new pair!

Clare, Jolls and Viv my weight is giving me the fear. With DD I only put on a stone and a half, I've put on well over a stone already. Well, we have just come out of the festive season too where we NEED to over-compensate for lack of booze by eating!

Hey MamaP - good to see you here! We've already had Pretty and Nicks pop by, will be good to see LadyBee and Pink when they're ready too. Take your time and join properly when you're ready. I dropped by for advice a few times and didn't add myself until about 15 weeks. Just do what feels right for you, we'll be here waiting.

I went back to work today. Had a few more cramps but no more BH (thanks for the reassusrance Muser) or spotting. Had a quiet little boy today who fuelled by paranoia but not kicking until just before lunch. Other than that all is well and got a MW check on Monday.

No news from TMT? Hope she's enjoying her wee one

Hello all,

Every time I sit down to write I get distracted!

Jemima Ella Phoebe arrived at 2.30pm on Monday 17.1.11 weighing 8lbs 1/4oz. She is perfect.

So... contractions finally started at 5am on Monday. I got up and gave the MLU a call because they were 30secs long and a minute apart... and I'd been told there'd be proper gaps! I mean you're supposed to go in at 1 minute long and 5 minutes apart, so this wasn't really what I was expecting. Anyway, she told me they'd space out, but I ended up ringing back at 7.30 when they were 50secs and 2 minutes apart, to be told there was no space on the MLU until 1.30 so I could try to hang on if I wanted to.

Well I tried... but by 10.30 they were one minute on one minute off so we headed in, I was examined at around 11 and told I was 8cm! You should have seen me, I nearly hugged her! So they got me into a delivery room and I could finally have some G+A.

They did offer to move me up to the MLU at 1.30, but by then I was beyond caring which floor she arrived on! She broke my waters when I was fully dilated and then I pushed for an hour and she arrived, head and body in one go.

Look away now those who haven't laboured, she came out with her hand on her face and with a 95th percentile head diameter so the words second degree tear and labial laceration appear in my notes. The doctor who stitched me claimed it was like the dentist...I don't know what her dentist does to her :o

Because of the meconium we were kept in overnight and have had a steady stream of visitors since then as well as trying to get the hang of feeding. Things are all going well in my Pammy-like state!

It's been aaaggggesss since I was last on here, so not even going to attempt to name check (sorry). Feel a bit embarassed about creeping back in....

Hi to everyone I don't yet 'know', hi to the old timers, and HUGE congrats to everyone who has had their lovely babies recently!! :)

Since I last posted, I've had my 20 week scan and found out that tigerbaby is a girl! Totally stumped for names though. We had loads of good boy names...

I'm probably being slightly neurotic, am spending most of my time being anxious because I hardly ever feel movements. Anyone else worried about this?

Tiger good to hear from you! congrats on your 20 week scan and on finding out your bump is pink! It is really worrying trying to feel movement and I don't think that ever goes away. Did they mention the position of your placenta? if it is anterior (on the wall of your bump) then this can muffle movement for quite a bit and prevent you feeling as much. That was the case with me, but don't worry before long you'll be being regularly pummelled in all directions! Given your history if you are really worried my MW told me I could always give her a quick ring and she'd be happy to get the doppler out so I could hear the HB in between her appointments, so you could always call them to ask if you're worried. There's a long time between appts in the second trimester isn't there?

Clareanna - I'm quite far from my hospital, so think I'll just wait til my next proper midwife appointment in Feb.
I've already been to see my local GP to get him to listen to the heartbeat last week (which was fine).
Think I'm just being overly anxious - baby has made a few strong movements tonight, following my dinner of a very spicy pasta with lots of chili - must have woken her up! :)
