apples I wished I'd done the refresher nct to meet people, but disnlt book on it soon enough. My local nct runs a bumps and babies group which is drop in so I'm going to go along to that I think. Luckily I (and you ) have a group of wonderfully supportive ladies who have all just had babies on the post grad thread so I have lots of people to chat to at the mo!

lia66 · 06/03/2011 20:40

evening all.

Just wanted to say I am so excited, Did trial run of pool today, even got in with my cossie on and it was luverly. Just want it to start now so we can get cracking. :)

And albe didn't even mind when I was texting her photos of out attempts at getting the handles and the liner in the right place, what a star on a Sunday morning. :)

Hope everyone is well.

northern how are you? Anything to report?

lia66 · 06/03/2011 20:41

alba even Blush

OrangeGloss · 07/03/2011 06:47

Owl how exciting not long to wait then. DH wants to know but I don't, so he's been squinting at the pics trying to guess. I think I'll say yes if someone asks me, but don't think anyone will dare in case I'm not and they offend me!

Thanks Apple I hope you've managed to avoid the cold over the weekend

I actually think my nausea's starting to ease off, still being sick but only once a day and not so bad. Now, must keep telling myself it's meant to ease off!

PenguinsMummy · 07/03/2011 08:33

Magic beautiful photo - soooo cute! And what a lovely birth story too.

Last week of work here - woohoo!! Roll on Friday so I can sit on the sofa, watch TV and eat cake for 4 weeks!! Grin. And obviously do all the stuff that I have been saying I will do when maternity leave starts.......

northerngoldilocks · 07/03/2011 09:29

Morning all

magic beautiful spiderbabies. Can't believe you got your BFP just after me and have now produced TWO beautiful little girls, whilst I'm still trying to get my head around the fact this is really happening to me.

Day 1 of maternity leave here. Lia - we also have had a trial run of the pool, although have only got as far as inflating it, leaving it overnight to check it doesn't go down and checking the hose is long enough. Haven't actually tried filling it. Apart from that, not much happening. Since I've stopped going to he gym, my feet and ankles are now swelling a bit plus have developed what feels like arthritis in my fingers when I get up- knew it would be a rapid downward spiral!!

Emoo · 07/03/2011 09:48

Thanks for the SCH reassurance, ladies... mine is a thin crescent that goes about a quarter of the way around the sac... don't know if that counts as small or what. Off to mental away quietly until I get my 12ish week scan, and keeping fingers crossed the SCH doesn't cause any further problems. If I get reassured at that point, I'll pop in more often. St Davids

appleblossoms · 07/03/2011 09:52

Thanks for your advice clareanna and alba. Going to go to the local NCT playgroup for toddlers, apparently that's where you go when you have number two. (toddlers aren't allowed at the normal bumps and babies group, which I went to with DS).

I'm still healthy orange, thanks for asking! and DS is MUCH better. Still coughing away, but no temperature. Last night he needed changing three times due to sweat soaked pyjamas Sad, but it's looking up today...hopefully over the worst...and I've taken the day off so I can mumsnet give him lots of cuddles.

Hope you're enjoying mat leave Northern, I reckon penguin has the right approach...sit on the sofa and eat lots and lots of cake! Enjoy being able to do whatever you want, and have pyjama days!!

How are you doing lia? Relieved you've made it 'full term'? this means you can definitely have your homebirth right?! Still think you're very brave to do it, especially with 5 other kids around! How old are they all, if you dont mind me asking? I'm one of five, and trying to convince DH we should do the same! Wink I may change my mind in 4 months.

I need to stop writing essays everytime I post! Blush

Big waves to everyone...especially any lurky lurkers from the freakout room...come on lovelies, come on in. We're not scary, and there's lots of Brew and cake!

nickstermum · 07/03/2011 09:52

lia yey for the trial run..... not long now :)

Owl/Orange we are the same. DH peering at the picks on willywatch! We are currently not agreeing. I categorically dont want to know, i want a surprise this time. Mum thinks its a defence mechanism in case anything happens... i use the finding out as a way to bond pre birth y'see! There is also the chance DH wont be around for the scan so mum will come with me. If thats the case we wont find out then, but may do at a later one. (he cant find out unless he has my permission Grin) I have done exactly the same thing, where i have been asked i have 'fessed up, but no announcement of any sort! Gets to a point where it cannot be hidden any further Grin

Northern - could it be a little bit of carpal tunnel in your handies? I really suffered last time, in late pg. Splints at night time helped a great deal. Are they tingling?

Re the NCT i dont think i will bother this time. I did it last time and met some lovely ladies, which was nice but the relationships kind of faltered when i went back to work. I wont be having long off this time i dont think either. They are very worth it if you want to get together with a network of new mums/new babies etc. I found it a little suffocating as the small group i was with wanted to meet up 3/4 times a week which was too much for me.. and the clickyness of the group put me off - but thats just me! I have a network of friends with kids and some new babies so hoping to spend more time with them and if i can meet one or two new good friends through the odd babytime class then that would be great for me Grin

After my weekend freak out (heard sad news that a friend of a friend MMC at 16 weeks - due a week after me in aug :() I felt some definitive little faint kicks this morning - so positivity is restored

Best go and do some work

northerngoldilocks · 08/03/2011 08:51

Everyone is very quiet on here (or I"m noticing more as not at work)

nickster i don't think its carpal tunnel as no tingling thankfully - just that my knuckles are really stiff and sore when I first get up, also happens if I lie on the sofa in the day so reckon its water retention or something linked to circulation. Have a midwife appt on Wed so will try to remember to ask about it then.

Lovely that all the newer peeps are starting to feel kicks, its reassuring but not sure you ever stop worrying. At over 38 weeks I still have moments of panic where I think that I haven't felt the baby kick for a while, then I remember that an hour or two before he was moving to the extent that my whole stomach was moving up and down and repeatedly jabbing me in the same place (seems to have got stuck in one position now so all kicks are in the same area - getting a bit sore!). Think its good to keep an eye on these things, but also to think about the whole day, not just the 5 mins you're currently concentrating on or will be very stressful!

Anyway - today I have to do some enforced 'nesting' - have no nesting instinct at all - or rather I see lots of things that need doing and they're annoying me, so will have to get onto it. Having a lovely pregnancy massage later though to reward myself.

appleblossoms · 08/03/2011 09:06

Eek, just put a pregnancy related on fb...now feel very scared for some reason?!
northern i'm like you, I work from home and I get annoyed by the state of my house all day, but find it hard to get the motivation to do it! Hope you're enjoying the time off though, and resting on the sofa in the afternoon is a must...if labour starts in the evening you'll be grateful for the two hours watching chick flicks! Wink
How's everyone else doing?

OrangeGloss · 08/03/2011 10:00

Nix I am going to try and hold him off, but his speculation is amusing me. I agree a surprise would be nice

Am now v.paranoid about the MMC at 16 weeks story :( does anyone know the chance of success at 14 weeks? Must be good? [faltering smile]

nickstermum · 08/03/2011 10:37

Eek sorry orange, didn't mean to freak you out, read everyone elses posts about it on freak out room, ESP Iz's!

nickstermum · 08/03/2011 10:38

Orange if you are feeling paranoid, go get the mw to listen in::)

OrangeGloss · 08/03/2011 11:23

Sorry [covers sensitive ears] I missed all that in the freak out room, tis on my to-do to read back tonight. I've got 9 days til MW, they don't seem that keen on going off-plan, worth a try tho thanks :)

OrangeGloss · 08/03/2011 11:36

Just glanced back and feeling better :)

On a brighter un-pg related note, who's having pancakes and what are you having on them??

owlbooty · 08/03/2011 11:39

Stop fretting, missus. Can we set up some sort of tag team mentalling arrangement? That way someone can take a day off whilst someone else mentals for them.

Grin

NorthernG - massage sounds fabulous. I am definitely having those when I have expanded a bit further, oh yes indeed.

Gonnabe · 08/03/2011 11:52

Orange - you are not alone, I read that yesterday and have been worrying ever since. Not Nicks fault at all!! I just cant help worrying unfortunatly. I keep looking at my big fat belly thinking, clearly something is going on in there thou!

How is everyone doing today, its lovely and sunny in London, cant wait to get out of the office into the fresh air!

VivClicquot · 08/03/2011 16:12

Try not to fret ladies - while also remembering that the fretting never really goes away. 32 weeks here and I still worry things might go wrong.

In other news, pancakes pancakes pancakes pancakes Grin

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 08/03/2011 19:54

I can vouch for what Viv said, please try not to worry unless you have something to actually worry about as it can make you so tired - you are pregnant and it is a beautiful thing so think positive xxx

and Viv 32 weeks! Marvellous! xxX

Hurray for trial run Lia Smile must be so nice to have your pool, I would have LOVED to have had one up in the last few weeks/days to wallow in as getting in/out the bath was a mission and not very comfortable tbh!

How you feeling Northern?

You're all right if course, if I'm not worrying about mc I'm worrying about abnormalities. I think there will always be something

Owl we need a schedule :) I wondered if you were mentaling less as you're further along Envy

Pancakes were awesome Grin Is it normal to start to feel uncomfortable below the ribs? Today I have suddenly felt a lot bigger. Well, not compared to you ladies at the top of the list

nickstermum · 09/03/2011 09:35

Sat down with my ma & da yesterday eve and i feel like have had a councelling session....

Dad is never demonstrative... at all, but pipes up..." you need to start relaxing and enjoy your pregnancy" a few tears flowed, but you know what, he is right! This will probably be my last pg so now with my fake more positive head on i am going to try and love every minute

They were concerned as i was refusing to plan anything/baby's room/finding out the sex etc and yet last time i was out shopping for baby at 12 weeks!! They dont get the anxiousness, but equally i do need to take on board what they are saying Grin

orange the mentalling does reduce the further along you get as feeling movement is reassuring, and when you can hear the heartbeat of course thats even more so reassuring!! I think i will start to relax more when the 20 weeker is done... :)

randomimposter · 09/03/2011 09:49

aww Nicks just got teary at your post and your mum and dad being so lovely. You're a very lucky girl.

owlbooty · 09/03/2011 09:57

Orange yep - I'm finding bending over to do shoes up is suddenly leaving me a bit short of breath as well. These last two weeks I have suddenly expanded.

I am mentalling far less than I was up to 12 weeks. As far as I am concerned, the risk has stopped decreasing and levelled out so my overall level of worry is now at about 10% as opposed to 99.9% :) Having said that, if I were to find blood I would immediately be right back up to 99.9%. I'm considering this phase up to the 20 week scan as 'phase 2' and then once that is done I shall move on to phase 3 which will hopefully be even calmer.

Nix your Dad is very, very right.

Loops is also right; probability is on our side. And that's the best way to look at it :)
