Hope all has gone well today apples and that things are getting going dorcas!

PenguinsMummy · 26/01/2011 15:19

Hi all,

Had my 28 week appt with MW today and am measuring 32 weeks so likely that I have polyhydramnios again but she didn't seem that pushed on sending me for a scan to confirm although she did have a good feel of my tummy. Just said they would keep an eye on it and see how I was at my next appt at 34 weeks. We have booked to have a 4D scan in 2 weeks time so am going to ask them to have a look at how much fluid I have.

Baby's heartrate was also on the high side of normal - not sure what this means or if it is anything else for me to panic about Confused Anyone else any knowledge of this?

Hope scan went well today Apples

Mamapower · 26/01/2011 15:53

Hi lovely ladies, just poking my nose in for a fish slap or reassurance as you see fit! Grin
Apologies in advance for me me me, I hope you don't mind giving me a little hand holding until I reach week12 (fx)! I went to register my pg today, GP has said due to the mc and chem preg last year that she's going to monitor me closely starting with a scan on Monday (I'll be 6+2). so I am relieved I am being watched but also shitting it that Monday isn't that far away and I feel that I have now been given my first hurdle but that actually I have no control over the outcome!
Also, everything I read says there will be a detectable heartbeat towards the end of week 5/early week 6, for those who have had an early scan, is that your experience? Should I be expecting a heart beat? I am so nervous!

appleblossoms · 26/01/2011 16:05

Am home, DS is happily watching Thomas so I have a few minutes to catch up with you lovely ladies.

Scan was beautiful, thanks for all the good wishes. Feel silly being so nervous about it. Baby is measuring spot on average for everything, and the sonographer commented on what a wriggly bean it was... and we found out it's a boy! and very proud of the fact, he kindly showed us several times! Grin

mamap big hugs lady. No amount of reassurance is going to stop you being nervous, but it really is good that your doc is taking it seriously. I didn't have a scan that early, but I know others who had a scan at late 5 weeks with no detectable heartbeat, so they got another one a week later. I think you go assuming you won't see a heartbeat, but will see a little beanie growing in the right place and of approx the right size, and if you see a heartbeat that's a bonus....easier said than done! Thinking of you lovely. Tis a hard time the first few weeks.

owlbooty · 26/01/2011 16:11

Sorry, you guys aren't allowed to leave now Grin

That's really good that your GP is being sympathetic - I got a fairly blank look off mine when I pitched up and asked about early scans. I'd agree with Apple , if you see a heartbeat it's a bonus but you should be able to see if things are in the right place at least. There will be lots of hurdles, but just take them one at a time.

Apple that soulds like a fabulous scan, how lovely :)

My turn tomorrow morning. The Owlet had better still be a: present b: with heartbeat and c: not standing on head preventing nuchal fold measurement.

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 26/01/2011 16:24

Glad things went well today apples!
mamap I too have a scan on Monday, I'm trying not to expect a heartbeat (in their words they're checking the pregnancy is in the right place) and if they see one, it'll be a bonus and hopefully there'll be one a couple of weeks later. I have started repeating this over and over to myself as i don't want to panic if they don't find one.... I had bloods taken the couple of days before I went away and Hcg levels were rising nicely but desperate to know whether they are still going up! I am so pleased for you that your gp is taking an interest.

have been a hormonal psycho today and my trousers don't fit anymore-I guess it's just bloat, is this normal lovely experienced wise ladies?? I am actually going to have to go clothes shopping on Sunday as I know no work clothes will fit-surely it's too early for this??

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 26/01/2011 16:25

Good luck for tomorrow owly!!

nickstermum · 26/01/2011 16:59

Good stuff apples yey for mini crabapple Grin

I have been getting those cheese gratery feelings again today, have had them all the way through, hopefully its burrowing deeper.. feels like its scraping its lil nails down the inside of my womb!! (hope so!!) Norks are painful again today and deathly thirsty...and the vivid dreams...good god!

YEY for a supporting gp Mamap mine was bloomin useless! Go pinkbean and babymapa

owl twill be fine chickster. xxxxx

clareanna · 26/01/2011 17:10

wonderful news apple you must be so relieved and hurray for team blue!

mamap wonderful that your GP is so supportive - it makes a big difference. You should hopefully see a hb I think, but at that stage a day can make a big difference.

penguin i guess if the mw isn't too worried you can take that as a good sign? I think the heart rate can correct itself, my friend was told her DD had a slower than normal HB at her 20 week scan, and it corrected by that time she was term. I think she said that the HB can partly determine the type of labour you're recommended, and when they would be likely to suggest intervention etc. Sounds like it's worth discussing at your next appointment to put your mind at rest.

pink I think my tummy felt really sensitive early on and I had to choose my trousers carefully too!

stuffed well done on the cot! I can't get my DH to get ours out yet- he thinks we have "plenty of time" arrgggh! DS is at his grandma's tonight so we're going out for a meal - I plan to get a list of jobs agreed once he's halfway through a bottle of red!

Good luck for tomorrow owl

Mamapower · 26/01/2011 17:14

Thanks Apple and Owl I knew you'd look after me! I actually got that wrong, will be 6+1 and as I ov stupidly late suspect there almost certainly would not be a heart beat.
Apple great news on your scan, go baby apple Smile And, owl good luck for your scan tomorrow Smile

Pink this parallel life thing is a bit freaky now! We'll prob end up with same dd!!!

Nix I like the sound of your vivid dreams Grin I'm hoping for one featuring Brad Pitt any day now Grin

Mamapower · 26/01/2011 17:16

x-posts thanks clare you are right a day can make a difference so I'll see how that scan goes and maybe still attend the private scan I have booked the following monday!! thank you Smile

CaribouMoo · 26/01/2011 17:16

Apples brilliant news - didn't doubt it for a minute. Good luck tomorrow owl x

MamaP I think as others have said a heartbeat is a bonus - but if there isn't one it doesn't always mean doom and gloom. Someone on the TTC, I think perhaps Muser, didn't see a HB at the first 6 week scan and everything was fine the next time. Pink I was bursting out of clothes early too, I think it is bloating.

Penguin have no knowledge of what that could mean. Surely if they thought it was a problem they would have told you?

Those of you from the TTC thread may recall I lost the plot at work one day (crying at desk, on the streets of Glasgow, on public transport, through my housing estate, etc) when a colleague announced her pregnancy and had more or less the same due date as my 2nd MMC in March? Well her baby arrrived at the weekend - over 7 weeks early! They are both ok, he is under 5 lbs and in intensive care. What a fright she must have got though!

Mamapower · 26/01/2011 17:18

Moo ah yes, amongst the multitude of hysterical crying we've all done, I do remember Grin Glad to hear they are both well. Thanks for reassurance too Smile

Muser · 26/01/2011 19:18

MamaP I had a scan at 6+2 and they saw sac, yolk sac, but no sign of the fetus. Went back at 8 weeks and there was a baby with a big old heartbeat.

Now I am being constantly kicked in the ribs by a 35 week monster. What you see at 6 weeks varies day to day, so don't worry too much. If it's in the right place that's the important thing at that stage. Then you can always have another scan at 8 weeks when you definitely should see something.

CaribouMoo · 26/01/2011 19:21

I thought it was you muse, that's a good reassuring story.

Mama well remembered, there has been a multitude between the lot of us! Its was quite a special public display I put on though, meaty sobs for about 8 hours solid - people approaching my desk at work then shuffling away again not knowing where to look!

Glad she's ok Caribou. What a shock for her. I hope her little one does ok.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 26/01/2011 21:28

just a quick post again from me, glad to read everyone's good news.

been losing my plug over the last few days, so everything a little tense here. back to be checked over again tomorrow, because I lost another chunk again today, after a few days' respite... Confused

OrangeGloss · 26/01/2011 22:00

Moo I'm glad your scan was good, it's understandable to be nervous at that stage

Mamap sorry I can't advise on scans, last time I didn't have an early one, and you know what happened this time. I do remember reading that it isn't uncommon to not see a heartbeat at 6 weeks.

Owl good luck tomorrow

Pink I have to put to rest some if my work trousers, jeans are ok tho

I woke up this morning, was sick. Had breakfast, brushed teeth, was sick. It felt wonderful Grin Hmm

I'm trying to persuade DH another pre-12 week scan, but he thinks it's excessive. Last scan I measured 7.5-8.1 depending on measurements, did see heartbeat tho Grin

CaribouMoo · 26/01/2011 23:03

Christ Ivy what does that mean for you? Hope you're ok x

UrbanLolly · 26/01/2011 23:24

Good evening ladies I started over on the TTC thread after a mmc in sept. I was a very lucky girl and got my bfp on the 1st nov, so now I find myself at 16 weeks....bonkers!! I've lurked since nov but have been AWOL since the start of dec due to crazy work and loads of family stuff....It all kicks off at the same time....typical!! Today feels like my first normal day, such a relief.
I had a scan last week and all seems to be progressing as normal, feel like I have got through another hurdle. Still can't stop the mentalling......still haven't told anyone I'm preggers except 2 people in work....that won't last much longer!! I'm off for 2 weeks so plan to tell when I get back, also one of the girls I work with will be off on her maternity....she is due 2 weeks before my mmc dd.....I'm being really weird about her knowing.....don't want to have THAT conversation with her.......

It's been great to read about all the new arrivals CONGARTULATIONS to you all xxxxxx
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better and I see some familiar names which is just amazing...seems I missed a baby boom on ttc.... And it looks like more are on there way mega WOOOOPS!!!! to you all xxxxxxxxxxxx
feels good to be back on mn!!!!

tigerbear · 27/01/2011 00:10

Apple - great news re your scan :)

Good luck for yours, Owlet

Ivy are you ok? What is the hospital advising??

Welcome to Urbanlolly - it's so great to have a positive scan isn't it? Best feeling ever. Can't believe you've only told 2 people at work. At 16 weeks I was already massive and it was kind of obvious! :)

Had a horrible dream that tigerbaby had died last night :( - think that's par for the course and quite a usual dream/nightmare isn't it?

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 27/01/2011 01:09

Hello all from insomnia towers!

Tiger it's horrible to have such crazy vivid dreams but it's so common in pregnancy and dreaming about death indicates new beginnings/life so don't you be worrying about a thing!

Urbanlolly Welcome and congratulations! How did you manage to keep that to yourself at work???? Wow!

Orange that is good and very reassuring that you saw a heartbeat. If having another scan helps you go for it.

Ivy how you doing? Try not to worry too much but please rest as much as you can. Your plug can go weeks before anything major can happen and you are over 24 weeks which is great stuff. Have the hospital mentioned having a scan? Maybe ask for one and get them to check the length of your cervix. Keep us posted xxx

Wow Moo I do remember bless you, that must have been a total shock for her. Glad to hear they are ok. Have been for a tour round our NICU and it was amazing to see those tiny little babies in there, and quite emotional I couldn't read the Stories/had to look away from some of the pictures as it reminded me of DD2. They do provide amazing care for those little ones.

Not long Muser! How's the nesting Clare? Hope you enjoyed your cake Dorcas, waiting is boring! I feel like that already!

Penguin I think maybe if she was worried she would have referred you. I know you have a scan in 2 weeks but if you are worried call them and ask for a 2nd opinion. I think there heart rates can vary sometimes (just like us). My twins rates were accelerating higher than normal at my 25 week fetal cardio scan but when I was rescanned this week they were normal.

pink I was in some maternity trousers from about 7 weeks or using my belly belt Blush

Glad your scan went well apple :)

I am going to have to sign off as finding it very hard to sit at the computer now as twin1 now breech with head and shoulders under my ribs which is fecking uncomfortable and playing havoc with my heartburn.......pesky little thing! Girdle for spd is not helping at all and just giving me shooting pains in the fanjo. Nice. If I was a horse I would be shot.

Big wave to anyone I have missed xxxxxxxxxx

Urban I had just joined the other thread when you got your BFP, so nice to see you again :) well done for keeping quiet!

I was just reading about people having MMC after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks, and my slight confidence is waning. Surely I must have good odds? I'm worried my boobs haven't been as sore, but sickness/bloating still sorry, I suppose you all went through this?
