Hello,

This may be a bit early as I know a lot can happen this early on but thought I would tentively see if there is anyone else in the same situation. Hmm

I found out I am 4 weeks pregnant this weekend. I am trying not to get too excited as it is so early but am finding it hard not to be! Blush

We have told my mum but have decided not to tell anyone else yet hence the reason I am here as I am desperate to talk about it.

Would anyone else like to join me on the 12 week wait and share feelings and experiences?

Congratulations!

I might not really qualifiy for your 12-weeks-club :), as I'm 11 weeks now and having my scan next week! But I completely share the wanting to talk about it! We have only told our families so far, and some very close friends - I think otherwise I would have bitten off my tongue! And I have to say that it is a big relief to be able to talk to my friends who have had children, to get their advice and some tips and tricks.

It's all very exciting, but scary at the same time, isn't it?! I'm a control freak, and not being able to have any control over what is happening with my body at the moment is freaking me out quite a bit...

SofaKitten · 27/10/2010 11:33

Yeah I'll join. 6 weeks here and just back from booking first MW appt... first one available in 3 weeks time....

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 11:47

Hooray, hooray!

Yes Jbrd it is scary and telling people seems such a long way away!! I would have told my sisters but one of them has been trying for years to have a baby unsuccessfully so I don't want to tell her and upset her incase something goes wrong and she was upset for nothing.

My mum has suggested I wait until my first midwife appointment (in 4 weeks) to tell them and my other half wants to wait until after the first scan to tell his family and everyone else.

It is not helping that it is half term (I am a teacher) and that I have far too much time on my hands to sit and think and worry! Also have a stinking cold which is not helping my emotions!

A long few weeks ahead I fear .... How have you managed JBrd? you must be so excited about next week Smile

Hi I'll join! Although like JBrd I'm 11 weeks, so I don't have much waiting to do now!

I found out at 4 weeks and it has been SO hard to keep it a secret, especially because I've been so ill so had to pull out of a lot of social engagements. We told a few close friends at week 8, and they've been a great support, but we're waiting to tell family until after the scan.

We also told both our bosses right from the start who have been amazing and supportive, giving time off for illness, doctors appointments, and allowing me to work from home most mornings. We really lucked out in that department, by working for small companies with great bosses.

I remember the first weeks: 4, 5, 6, 7 going REALLY slow!! And I spent tons of time reading books and going online to learn as much as I can. But the last few weeks have started to pick up, and now I'm just really excited. Can't wait for the scan and can't wait to tell family!

NightLark · 27/10/2010 12:10

Hi, I'll pop in too if that's ok.

I'm 5+4 with a rather unexpected pregnancy, which will be DC#3. That will teach me to think that being 39, breastfeeding and with a history of finding it hard to conceive was protection enough...[hsmile]

I'm finding it really hard to keep my mouth shut, especially as a third DC will mean we have to make some significant changes - like finding somewhere bigger to live, for example.

This time, I'm seriously considering paying for a private reassurance scan, don't think I can wait until 13+ weeks when they are offered here...

endlesslove · 27/10/2010 12:11

I'll join you...I'm 6/7 weeks. I am not 100% sure yet as I had an early scan yesterday (see my post "HCG Levels"). Very worrying time and i need to get through the next 2 weeks let alone 12 weeks! Time seems to have stopped!!

Take care and hope you are all feeling not to bad. My DS is calling me so better dash and sort him out!

xxx

yellowtomato · 27/10/2010 12:19

I'd like to join too. I am 6+4 today and it seems like it's been a looooong time since I found out at 4 weeks...it's like time is standing still.

I am having an early scan tomorrow and am really frightened about it. I can't talk to anyone either, even DP is in denial due to previous m/c and won't discuss it until after the scan.

endlesslove sorry you are having uncertainty right now.....it's so tough isn't it....will check out your other thread now......

i really don't know how anyone waits until 12 weeks for a first scan.......I've never known time to move so slowly.

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 12:24

Can I ask a very niave question Blush what does 6+4 mean??

Sorry to hear about the uncertainty I really have my fingers crossed for you all xx

Hi, ill join too, Congrats to everyone xxxx

im about 5 weeks at the mo, found out on Saturday (did 4 tests because i couldnt believe it!!)

Went to docs yday because of cramping and spotting and i was soooo scared but she said there was nothing anyone could do as im so early and that i have to wait for the midwife to get in touch in a few weeks. The wait is going to be unbearable but i had my first wave of nausea this morning in waitrose and i was relly happy!! Wandering round smiling to myself at the same time as wanting to throw up! The joys :)

HarleyQuinn · 27/10/2010 12:37

Congrats everyone! mind if I join too?

Im 7 weeks today, got my midwife appointment on wednesday, only told close family so far.

yellowtomato · 27/10/2010 12:39

Hi Danilou it means 6 weeks and 4 days! We get very specific at this stage.

I am very excited today as midwife rang and so I've got m/w appt and 12 week scan booked.

m/w is in 2 weeks, 12 week scan in December. Makes it more real somehow......

Congratulations to everyone.

catherineps · 27/10/2010 12:41

I'll join too Danilou. I am 4+6 (meaning 4 weeks and 6 days, though seems a bit silly to be so precise when it'll no doubt change!)
so for us 12 weeks is basically Christmas. On the bright side, all the supermarkets seem to think that's just around the corner!

Roopachoo · 27/10/2010 12:46

Woohoo congrats all! I'm so early on... AF is not due till tomorrow but have had 5 positives, and feeling positively nauseous all the time. This is going to be a long 12 weeks right?

jessi0343 Reading "I remember the first weeks: 4, 5, 6, 7 going REALLY slow!!" makes me want to scream! My husband's sister just found out she is preggers too so I'm having to keep that a secret from everyone, including DH, too. Aaaagh.

Won't help that everyone expects me to be first on the wine every weekend...

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 13:02

I am still wondering how I am going to tell my friend that it is probably best not to get me a take that ticket for early July!

congratualtions on your pregnancies! The weeks go so slow don't they? I'm 19 weeks now and the weeks seem to be going by a little quicker Smile Good luck with your babies.

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 13:06

Thank you me23 and congrats with yours too x

Hi, I'll join too! I remember you from some trying to conceive / PCOS threads over the last few months, so congratulations Danilou!!!

I will be about 6 weeks this weekend, according to my dates, although according to the doctor's dates I am 6 + 6 (it was a long cycle). Got my first MW appointment on 4th November and have not had a date for my 1st scan yet.

We have told our Mums, one close friend each and I've told someone in work, but apart from that trying to keep schtum! I have been avoiding all social engagements since I found out just over a week ago, but there are a couple coming up there will be no escape from and it will be difficult to hide from my bloodhound friends Grin. Really wish we could just shout it from the rooftops, but am really paranoid, like most people it seems, about mc-ing. I have an unhealthy obsession with reading about mcs on the internet at the moment Sad.

4oclockwakeup · 27/10/2010 13:17

Hi I'll join too - I am 5 or 6 weeks - a bit in denial as dd is going through early waking at the moment so can't imagine how i will cope with the extra tiredness of two little ones up and about in the early hours - but just starting to get the sickness which makes it seem a bit more real....

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 13:24

Hi 8rubberduckies I remember you too. Congratulations.

PCOS has still not been properly diagnosed. The bloods I initially had were inconclusive, scan was normal and I was due to have more bloods done between CD days 1-5 which have not come Smile

I am really worried about mc-ing though and do keep knicker checking! and can't quiet believe it. I have very sadly ordered some cheap internet PG tests so I can keep testing over the next few weeks just to make sure Blush

It does not help that I am ill and can't decide what are ill symptoms and what are PG symptoms!!

Danilou - yes, I know the feeling of having too much time to think about it all too well! I got made redundant at the beginning of August and then fell pregnant about 2 weeks after that. Talk about bad timing! So of course I'm spending loads of time reading and searching for information - and I sometimes wonder if there is such a thing as too much information... Just reading about the statistics of Down Syndrome has really freaked me out! I'm 38 now, will be 39 when the baby comes (it's my first), so although excited about the scan, I'm also rather apprehensive...

But yes, from about 6 weeks I found that time was really going fast, pregnancy-wise! Morning sickness (or in my case - all day sickness) still keeping me 'on my toes'!

loueytbg · 27/10/2010 13:39

Hi - I'll join you. Found out just under a week ago while were on holiday (had to go and buy a test and then try and work out the instructions in spanish...)

I think I'm 4+5 today, due early July. I'm very very nervous as I had a mmc in March at 12 weeks so every twinge is being analysed. Got a GP appt next week and will get him to refer me to the EPU for an early scan as they said they would see me. This will be my third, I've got twins already.

danilou I'm still testing too. Just went out and bought another digi to see if the no of weeks has gone up, thankfully it has

12 weeks is the week before xmas and I still don't know what I'm going to do about my work xmas party which is early Dec.

baby1ahhh · 27/10/2010 13:52

Danilou22 ive just bought some cheap internet preg tests too!! Great idea. Pregnancy is just terrifying!!

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 13:58

I used a digi on sun which said 2-3 weeks and then again on monday which said 3+weeks so I hope that is a good sign. The problem is 3+weeks is the max it tells you!

As for my christmas party I am just going to say I am letting my other half drink this year as I did last year.

One thing I am worried about though is that I am really bloated and look pregnant already (I know this is not possible and that is is just bloat and not baby!)I am not a skinny girl (size 16) and I am worried about putting on more weight during my pregnancy so I am off to the nurse tomorrow for a diet plan Hmm Everyone is going to think I have put on so much weight!

No shame in cheap internet tests! Once I've finished all my first response early tests I know I will peeing on those every morning! Also having shed loads of fun with my ovulation tests the past two mornings which are now more positive than the pregnancy tests (ok- obsession with watching lines appear on pee sticks)
