Hello,

This may be a bit early as I know a lot can happen this early on but thought I would tentively see if there is anyone else in the same situation. Hmm

I found out I am 4 weeks pregnant this weekend. I am trying not to get too excited as it is so early but am finding it hard not to be! Blush

We have told my mum but have decided not to tell anyone else yet hence the reason I am here as I am desperate to talk about it.

Would anyone else like to join me on the 12 week wait and share feelings and experiences?

I'll join too! I'm 5+4, so about 6 weeks to go till scan day. It's my second pregnancy, and although first one went absolutely fine, and I have a lovely 16 month old now, I feel really nervous about this one - I guess I'm just so much aware of possible things that could go wrong.

I just can't wait till that scan...

Congrats to you all :)

worny · 27/10/2010 14:54

hiya everyone can i join in, im 8+4 which was a great surprise it seems like 12 weeks is such a long time away.

milanomum · 27/10/2010 14:59

Hello! me too please! I'm 6 weeks today and just want a time warp to happen to get to the first scan asap!
This is no.2 for me and I am so much calmer about it all than the first time.

Danilou - I have already put on lots of weight, unfortunately, simply because eating is the only thing that keeps the sickness at bay! All my non-stretch clothes are getting really uncomfortable, but I don't think I can justify buying maternity clothes just yet! I wasn't skinny either, used to be size 14, but now I'm starting to reach the top end of a 16, sigh... I only hope that the weight gain slows down once the sickness stops.

And yes, bloating is a problem, definitvely!

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 15:21

I am hoping that the nurse is going to put me on a great (magic) diet plan that means I at least fill up the fat I have with baby first before putting any more on!

To be fair although I am nibbling to help with sickness, one of my first major suspitions that I was pregnant was that I turned down cake!! and am happy just nibbling dry crackers at the moment.

Yes, I've completely lost my sweet tooth, too! Whereare before I would never say no to cake, chocolate, anything sweet. All I want now are savoury carbs, sigh.

catherineps · 27/10/2010 16:14

I am also a 16 (on a good day!). One of the kids I teach wrote something the other day about how "people who already have big tummies find it hard to have babies because their skin can't stretch any more"! and I thought, oh dear . . .

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 16:34

Oh dear!!! I am a teacher (primary) and I have actually had children ask if I have a baby in my tummy and that was about 6 months ago so def not pregnant!! Can't wait to be able to say "yes, actually I have!"

they're so tactful, aren't they? I'm just about to move to a new school after half term, hopefully not going to start by puking on anyone on my first day!

LDNlady · 27/10/2010 19:43

Hello all! I am 7+1 and my 12 week scan seems like an eternity away. I've already seen my doc and had my booking appointment with MW so there is absolutely nothing else to do but sit back and wait!!! Scan is on the 29th Nov so am thinking about making my own version of an Advent calendar! :o

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 20:03

I love that idea LDNlady. What would you put in it?

I think mine would have to be chocolate, very obvious I know!

LDNlady · 27/10/2010 20:13

Well, seeing as I have trouble deciding what I actually want to eat right now that's a difficult one but one thing that I seem to be really enjoying is Thorntons Peppermint Creams and Duchy Originals Gingrer Shortbread! It'd have to be a big old door to fit the shortbread behind it. :o

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 20:40

I quite like the idea of having ones with little pamper gifts behind them like 'get a massage from other half' 'go out and buy a new pair of shoes' 'have a lovely (but no too hot) bath' etc

Hi
I would like to join too -- just found out 2 days ago so 12 week scan is a complete eternity from here. i miscarried last december (in fact this one now has been conceived at the same time) so dreading the whole re-living of it (i lost it at 10 weeks). Soooo a little bit in denial but crossing everything that this one is for keeps. i have a dd who is 6 and a ds who is 4 but dh and i would really like a #3.
good luck to everyone and sticky beans

Danilou22 · 27/10/2010 21:02

Hi page62 and welcome. Here is def hoping for sticky beans!!

Does anyone else feel more sick in the evening than in the morning and during the day?

Think I'm about 6 weeks? Had 1st doc appointment, does anyone know when they give you a rough due date? Also when i tried to book MW appointment, lady said I should have received a pack at my 1st visit - does anyone know what this pack is and if it's important - it's just that i didn't get one and am now quite intrigued?!

yellowtomato · 28/10/2010 09:09

Hi 20thJune I saw my dr and she didn't do anything except put me in the system and ask if I was taking folic acid.

My midwife appt is in 2 weeks when I'll be 8+4 and I'm hoping I'll get info then.

Seems that every area is different though.

loueytbg · 28/10/2010 09:34

20thJune every area is different, and even GPs within the same area do different things. Its very confusing. I would have thought they would have estimated due date at your gp visit though?? If not the NHS website has a calculator which will tell you approx due date based on your LMP. Its here

danilou at the moment I'm feeling more sick in the morning. Last pg I felt worse in the evening. It is definitely related to how tired I am and how active I am. I just want to go so sleep, I've never felt so tired.

JBrd · 28/10/2010 10:11

20thJune - it might be that they were referring to the bunch of forms that you have to fill out when booking with your GP/midwife. My midwife told me to pick them up from my GP and start filling them out as much as possible before we met. Those are the 'handheld notes' that you then have to bring to every GP/mw/hospital appointment, and don't you dare forgetting them! I forgot to bring mine when going for my booking bloods and had to make another appointment, as they couldn't do anything without the notes!

gillykins2011 · 28/10/2010 10:51

I'll join too - 6+5. Feeling very grim and given last time i didn't know I was pregnant till I was 11 weeks its all a bit of a shock! I hope these symptoms are not psychosomatic!!!

Is anyone else burping all of the time? Its gross - is it due to hormones or just because I am small and everythings already shunted upwards to make room for the little growing thing?

Good luck to all the mummies who are having scary things happen to them. its a tough time for you.

Danilou22 · 28/10/2010 10:59

I am burping constantly which I hardly ever usually do!!

I phoned the docs and they asked me to come in which I did. All my GP did was type the date of my last period into the computer so it could generate a due date, fill in a form, jab me with a flu jab and told me to book an appointment with the midwife for around 8 weeks. I was not told to take anything or not do anything at all!

I am going in today though as it was recommended I see the nurse about my asthma and diet.

Can I ask what vitamins everyone is taking? I am taking sanatogen Mum to be ...

OP posts:
yellowtomato · 28/10/2010 13:25

Hi Danilou I'm not burping but having the same problem at the other end if you see what I mean!

I am taking sanatogen Mum to be as well.

I don't think my doctor filled in any forms and didn't mention the flu jab either.

NightLark · 28/10/2010 14:57

Another windy one here (I thought pregnancy was supposed to make you constipated, not constantly trumping...)

I'm taking pregnacare vitamins. At my GP appointment all he did was ask (severely) whether I was taking folic acid, and tell me to pick up a form at the desk with the midwife's contact details on it. And to phone her. And to fill in the form for free prescriptions.

Not a lot happens in early pregnancy, leaving lots and lots of time for me to fret and worry (especially as I am off work with a stinking cold and the other two DC are at nursery).
