He is 2.10. The book says by this age he should be able to hold wees for about three hours. He had a drink around an hour ago and since then has done six wees , three in the potty (after prompting) and three in large puddles on the floor. Surely this isn't normal??? Even if he is trained we will spend our whole lives in the toilet. Me, him, and the baby. Hurrah. Or does he wee too much to be capable of training and will he therefore have to spend his whole life in nappies? And not go to the pre school he is due to start next term because they want him trained. .. And I am desperate for him to get to so I can get him out of my hair for a bit..

Stressed....

Make that four puddles on the floor...

I truly believe queen, that at times like these we need to use all bribery, persuasive, and down right dirty tactics we have! Anything that works is good! Hoping you all have a good day, really hoping Jr has another good day too!

Calamityboo · 27/04/2012 14:41

:( big messy accident today! Still dry, just got to sort his poo out. How is everyone else?

QueenSconetta · 27/04/2012 17:25

Oh dear. I will find out if swimming bribery worked when I get home!

QueenSconetta · 27/04/2012 20:31

Swimming bribery and pestering worked! Yas!

Minshu · 27/04/2012 22:57

Another dry day, and no poo at all again.

Well done, princess! Glad the bribery worked.

Poo does seem to be taking longer to sort out.

QueenSconetta · 28/04/2012 07:22

Ooh, that's quite a long time with no poo Min, I'm sure it will sort itself out though.

You're right that poo seems much harder to crack.

I need to keep thinking of new bribery which is a problem - I'll be buying her a Ferrari soon the way things are going!

Calamityboo · 28/04/2012 08:20

Grrr, after two brilliant days, we have just had another poo accident. :( Feels like we have gone backwards.

QueenSconetta · 28/04/2012 08:39

Oh dear Calam. I guess there will be ups and downs, xx.

bringmesunshine2009 · 28/04/2012 22:04

Result! He took himself to the potty for a wee and then asked for a weewee and did one in the potty. Yeeeeeeeeees! 2 accidents but so what! I am happy! Xx

Calamityboo · 28/04/2012 22:07

Result indeed! Little ray of sunshine is doing well. We had just the one accident today, early this morning, has been clean and dry since, even using his travel potty properly for the first time! How are all the other pee soaked potty mums doing?

Minshu · 29/04/2012 01:04

Still no poo, in spite of lots of discussion, encouragement and on loo stories. Nothing else to report....

oldsilver · 29/04/2012 01:31

Hello, sorry to intrude. Just wanted to say that if you are having lots of pooey pants, the advice I was given was to use loose boxer shorts. Pants are tight and comforting around the bottom like nappies and it is easy to forget that it isn't a nappy you have on.

I really really struggled with DS for months until I was given this advice and within a couple of days he was sorted.

I hope those that are having problems come out the other side. It may be years ago but I do remember the struggle Smile

QueenSconetta · 29/04/2012 08:39

Daily bribery seems to be working so far, 2 days of poos in toilet!

QueenSconetta · 29/04/2012 20:03

How are you all? Good here, although no poo today, x.

bringmesunshine2009 · 29/04/2012 21:13

Congratulations on no poos, or 'stinkers' as DS like to call them. I guess you'll be on full alert for 'the waft' tomorrow, Queen. :)

Actually some progress. Announced a wee wee was on the way a couple of times, did a quick potty dash and success (x3), did a poo voluntarily in the morning, I sat him after lunch and he did the biggest poop ever in the potty yikes, ESP since we had guests.

He had one accident on the sofa and once on the floor. Both time he sounded disappointed and told me as it was happening. Both times he had been busy playing and I hadn't/reminded/taken him to the potty.

5 hits/2 misses. Progress! I never ever thought I would be writing this :)

min if you give lots of fruit for breakfast, would it loosen things up and mean DC was less able to hold on?

I think things improved since getting night time pulls ups. Because they look so different to nappies (as a helpful illustration DS2 is in nappies so we can make the distinction). Am so not brave enough to attempt night-training, he is always wet in the mornings.

Calamityboo · 29/04/2012 21:33

:) good day then sunshine! Jr had one little pee accident, but I did tell DH he had 2 big cups of juice before I ran off to the gym, he didn't quite make it to the bathroom, apart from that, a lovely poo in his potty and wees in his travel potty while at his uncles, a good day for Jr!

Minshu · 29/04/2012 23:29

Thanks for the suggestion, sunshine, but we always have lots of fruit and veg, and plenty to drink. She's just holding it in. Since Thursday now! Will have to think of different bribes.

Wee is ok, but can take a bit of persuasion to leave whatever she's doing. No accidents for days now.

Glad to hear others are doing well.

QueenSconetta · 30/04/2012 09:03

Have you got poo goes to poo land Minshu?

QueenSconetta · 30/04/2012 14:23

Dry at soft play and poo in potty! Hooray!

Calamityboo · 30/04/2012 14:30

Have just had the worst day in town. Just me and Jr, all I wanted was a pair of flat shoes and a coffee, so we went to the coffee shop first, he picked up a pack of mini muffins, so I said yes but he could only have 1 now Joe the rest later. We sat down, I opened the pack, then the noise started, the place was packed, he was having a real tantrums shouting I want muffins, then to top it off, You may have guessed, he peed all over the floor Blush

QueenSconetta · 30/04/2012 14:37

Oh dear Calam. I know its not funny but I just have an hilarious image of him chanting 'i want muffins'. Have some Wine

Calamityboo · 30/04/2012 14:47

thanks queen!

Minshu · 30/04/2012 23:11

Poor calamity - hope you've recovered.

Well done Princess!

No - we don't have a copy of poo goes to pooland - I couldn't download it for some reason, but perhaps should try again. MiniMin did have a couple of poos on the toilet at nursery today, so she's obviously more comfortable there. I was told she had a wee accident, too, but reckon they got her notes mixed up with another child as she was wearing the same (cleanish) trousers and knickers I put her in this morning. Easily done - almost all the kids are training at the moment, so we have the added benefit of peer pressure :)

QueenSconetta · 01/05/2012 06:26

I have it in PDF if you want me to email you Min, x

Oblomov · 01/05/2012 10:25

Sorry to laugh at the tap idea, but I have had that a bit. Different problem, but ds2(3.6) has been toilet training over the Easter holidays. He has done very well and we have only had a couple of accidents, 1 at home, 1 at nursery, becasue he was so engrossed in playing/ watching tv he forgot !! But he has been doing loads and loads of wees. I mean , allthe time, one after another. was starting to get on my nerves. But never mind.
Ds1 was dfferent. Announced he wanted to. did it himself in a week, with no accidents, at 2.5. so I was starting to think that ds2 would never do it.
Then all of a sudden he got excited about the Fireman Sam pants that I had bought him 6 months ago. And the Chuggington one's. And we found a bag full of ds1's old pants - thomas, buzz, etc, and suddenly that was what he liked. He now wipes his bottom, badly, but we really are flying all of a sudden.
Is still reasonably wet, at night, so might hold off on that for a few more months.
I still maintain, as I have always done, that when they are ready, it is easy.
