He is 2.10. The book says by this age he should be able to hold wees for about three hours. He had a drink around an hour ago and since then has done six wees , three in the potty (after prompting) and three in large puddles on the floor. Surely this isn't normal??? Even if he is trained we will spend our whole lives in the toilet. Me, him, and the baby. Hurrah. Or does he wee too much to be capable of training and will he therefore have to spend his whole life in nappies? And not go to the pre school he is due to start next term because they want him trained. .. And I am desperate for him to get to so I can get him out of my hair for a bit..

Stressed....

Make that four puddles on the floor...

Glad you sticking with it Calamity.

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 17:31

Yeah, nearly went this morning, but not stopping now, we have come a long way!

QueenSconetta · 16/04/2012 18:44

Big progress though, if same pants as this morning, x.

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 19:26

We have just had to change this mornings pants, couldn't quite hold on while we got him to the potty, but he has now started asking for a wee before he does one!

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 19:28

Forgot to ask how little queen - well that would make her a princess - is doing?

QueenSconetta · 16/04/2012 20:04

Excellent Calamity - asking is half the battle I think.

Princess Scone is doing well. Poo in loo, and dry all day up to now (just about to go to bed). I'm a bit dubious about how tonight will go as she had quite a lot of juicy fruit after tea and (smaller portion than normal) bedtime milk, but we'll see!

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 20:19

Wow princess scone is brilliant! We are so not brave enough to try it with calamity Jr! A good day today!

sheeplikessleep · 16/04/2012 21:30

Haven't read the whole thread and I don't know if there is any truth in this, but aren't they all like a leaky tap, until they 'train' themselves to hold it in? In nappies, they can wee willy nilly and they don't need to build their muscles to retain the wee. But as they are being toilet trained and encouraged not to wee constantly, they get better at being able to hold it in for a bit? I.e. their muscles are being used for the first time and get stronger with practice?

QueenSconetta · 16/04/2012 21:35

It was her in a bossy boots moment and me deciding to go for an easy life - so far so good. I have just been scaring myself with the extended potty training thread - here's hoping for a poo in the toilet at Gran's tomorrow!

Hope Calamity Jnr and friends continue to do well tomorrow.

Are you enjoying your Wine tonugh

QueenSconetta · 16/04/2012 21:35

Tonight that should say.

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 21:39

I am at the gym in the morning so no Wine tonight. I think you might be right sheeplikes it certainly sounds plausable.

I will raise a Brew and wish us all a dry day tomorrow. And princess poos of course.

QueenSconetta · 16/04/2012 21:43

[Brew] sounds good, might make one before bed.

Princess poos, that sounds funny, lol.

Wishing dry days all round from here too.

Minshu · 16/04/2012 21:59

It's all sounding distinctly promising with you guys :)

My DD had one poo accident at nursery and that is all! She's apparently been taking herself in to the toilets there all day for wees.

So happy, I could have wept when picking her up. I had myself braced for the worst the whole journey home but she stayed dry right up until going for a wee on the toilet just before having a shower (dunno why she wanted a shower instead of a bath - she was a bit scared of it a few weeks ago - perhaps part of being a "big girl").

Definitely not giving up now, but don't think we're ready for night training yet as she's a very heavy sleeper.

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 22:02

Aw minshu that sounds great!

QueenSconetta · 16/04/2012 22:24

Thats great Minshu, well done MiniMin, x.

Calamityboo · 17/04/2012 11:10

Calamity Jr is been at creche this morning, only 2 hours but packed 4 changes just in case. Went to pick him up and he was in the same trousers I sent him in Grin I left his potty in the loo for him and he happily went in there and had a wee! How's princess and minimin and littletho doing?

QueenSconetta · 17/04/2012 11:30

That's great Calamity! Well done Jnr. Princess was doing fine last I heard, she is at Gran's today, and dry over night. Fingers crossed for poo to pooland!

Calamityboo · 17/04/2012 21:24

Well what a mixed day, really good morning and a changeable afternon, all tuckd up in bed with nappy safely on ready for it again tomorrow. He is spending the day with my SIL on thursday who insists if she takes him out he must wear a pullup, she has no kids but was a nursery worker, (personally hoping for rain so she will not be able to take him out) but I have told her I would rather she didn't do that. DH useless git told her she could put the pullup over his pants? What do we think - AIBU??

How you lot all doing with it?

Minshu · 17/04/2012 22:21

All still sounding positive - can expect a few accidents for a while yet.

DD had one poo and one wee accident at nursery today, so still going pretty well (compared to the weekend). She was squiggling and squirming on the sofa this evening, so I took her up to the loo. It seems that was the right sign to pick up on. Even though she didn't tell me she needed to go (we were watching TV), it's proved that she can hold on :) So proud.

I'd rather not go backwards either, but to be fair, it's up to SIL if she's looking after Jnr and doesn't want to risk having a mess to clear up (although a nursery worker should be able to cope with that, and spot signs). If a pull up over pants is acceptable to Jnr, could try that as a compromise. Would still feel wet.

I've just realised that we have about 100 nappies in the drawer. Wasn't going to rush into night training for a while, anyway Grin

Calamityboo · 17/04/2012 22:46

Thanks min, I think I was getting in a bit of a pickle about putting nappies on him again, he has done so well, but it will just be while they are out so only a couple of hours really, I will be strict and only send 2 pull ups over though! Sounds like mini min is well on the way! We are good mummys!!

QueenSconetta · 18/04/2012 08:45

Sounding great for you guys. Bit of a disaster zone here. 2 x small didn't get there in time wee accidents yesterday, and a close call with poo. A wet through bed at 1am, and wet pants when she got up at 8.30. Am a bit worried about here going back to CM tomorrow now.

Never mind onwards and upwards and washing machine on. Is it too early for gin? :)

Calamityboo · 18/04/2012 10:44

Never too early queen! Keep going, it is still early days!

Minshu · 18/04/2012 14:05

We're had two big wee accidents this morning - my fault for taking no for an answer when asking if she wanted to go (although second time, I had got her to just outside the bathroom). Been more proactive since then. Not sure what I'll be greeted with when she gets up from her nap...

Must do something useful

Minshu · 18/04/2012 14:06

We've - not we're, at the start of that Blush

Calamityboo · 18/04/2012 14:19

Well, he managed to stand 2 feet from his potty and do a poo in his pants :(
