HAPPY BIRTHDAY TED AND ASHTON.

OP posts:
paranoidmummy · 16/03/2009 11:06

this is scary they're all growing up!

Peachy · 16/03/2009 11:19

It's horrid but also exciting- have to take Bas out shoe shopping this week, a bit and .

Happy birthday ted and Ashton.

EllieG · 16/03/2009 11:25

Just been to take Molly for her first induction visit at nursery.
Am so can't stop crying now. They were lovely, and we sorted out a really slow, thorough induction and the baby room has only got 4 babies in and 2 staff (Molly will be the 5th) and is lovely and quiet and the staff seem really nice BUT
I can't bear the thought of leaving my little girl

oh I am howling how ridiculous is a good thing Molly is in bed and can't see what a wuss her mother is

LadyBee · 16/03/2009 12:17

Ellie, not ridiculous, these feelings are absolutely normal. Have a good cry, then chin up, cup of tea and feel chuffed that you've found a lovely place for Molly. It sounds brilliant, so few other babies, nice ratio of carers, nice slow introduction to it. It'll be much better when you start the transition and can see how she reacts and enjoys the company and activities.

Is anyone else overwhelmed with the 'this time last year' feelings/memories? I feel almost like I'm living a parallel life with running commentary of what was going on last year while continuing on with now. I think I'm going to get a bit messy over the next month - those were some overwrought days.

I've been thinking more and more about dropping babybee's morning BF, and everytime I do the tears start welling up. VS, do you know whether it's possible to sustain one BF a day? It's logistical really, DS seems to want to feed longer and longer, he never comes off by himself I'm sure he'd just stay, attached and nursing for 40 minutes or more if I didn't take him off and I just don't have that time when I'm trying to get ready for work.

KnitterInTheNW · 16/03/2009 12:24

Oh Ellie, I don't know what to say, can I hand you a tissue and a chocolate muffin and a shoulder to cry on?

We're next on the birthday list! Only 5 days to go! I've just ordered him one of these to wear on the day (hope it arrives in time!). Lucky little man has a bee wheelybug, a pop up tunnel and a few other bits & bobs to open from us. He's having a rubber duck cake made by moi. I'm very excited about his party but can't believe he'sll be 1 already!

VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2009 13:03

LadyBee, by now your supply should be robust enough to cope with one feed a day, some people feed only at night for YEARS yet so I would say, yes it's perfectly possible, but keep an eye on your supply and how babybee feeds during his one feed.

Ellie, you're not the only one who has wobbles/tears so don't worry! It's hard to leave them, but I remember being like this with DS1 and then when I'd pick him up he would come crawling/walking across the floor to me at pick up time with the biggest grin, but he'd also enjoy nursery and go to his carers with a smile too so I'm hoping Alex will be the same. He is SOOOO clingy atm what with being poorly and that.

OP posts:
LadyBee · 16/03/2009 13:36

oh that's made me feel much better. I think I had it in mind that if I went down to one it would inevitably tail off and that was basically me saying 'that's it', which I'm not sure I'm ready to do. But this is an ok compromise. Will be interesting to see what BabyBee thinks though

I'd be excited about a rubber duck cake too. Hadn't thought about cakes...

oh I know! He's just discovered this toy (is iconic NZ toy..every NZ baby gets a buzzy bee). Think I could probably do it...

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/03/2009 13:41

Oooooooooooh Knitter I'm going to copy you with the Wheelybug i think

Ellie - i bet Molly will love nursery, Mimi has settled right in & all my early day wobbles have gone. Are all the other babies happy, being played with, cuddled, etc? Staff chatty to you?

VS - hope Panda is ok.

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/03/2009 13:43

Ladybee - i think about this time last year too, i have kept last years diary and can see mw appts and results of baby posistion and everything. I cant believe i didnt know Mimi then, or what BF was like, or how beautiful she is, or anything. Odd lot arent we?

Peachy · 16/03/2009 16:03

Bas is also exceptionally clingy- still hasn't slept in his cot as he just screams if I am not there, whether loo or at night or any time really. Demanding but secretly i think > to DH- evil me!

Bas is getting a atrike with aprent handle, nice onne in toys r us that steers decently. It'll get use on the school run each morning as when Harry goes to SNU I won't be cinging onto him for dear life LOL!

I thin I miht wion a prize for a busy day - SALT this am, Paed at 12, HArry ahd a handover session with new teacher at 1.30 and national autistic society befriender coming to meet Sam at 4.30.

EEEEEEKKKK LOL

But its lovely and sunny (ignores weather forecast) and lovely so all happy

VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2009 16:27

Alex is getting his back molars, seems they might be part of the reason he is so bad today, the pain for them on top of the lasting virus thingy.

Also, DD's school, well, they're fab, it hasn't even been a year since I spoke to her teacher thinking she may be dyspraxic and not only did her teacher manage to persuade the occ therapist to come in even though she wasn't supposed to, DD came home today to tell me the school have bought her a laptop so she doesn't have to struggle with ehr writing, her teacher said to me at parent's evening that she has fab ideas but can't get them down on paper so they are trying to combat it like this, she will have extra hand writing practice lessons too so that she doesn't completely stop trying, and hopefully if she is paying attention to her handwriting rather than the content she will be able to learn how to get round it.

OP posts:
ScorpiowithabigS · 16/03/2009 19:45

VS - That's great about dd's school, Reilly will have a laptop next year, though his handwriting is improving sooo much, after more 1-1. At tennis today they had t oweave in & out of those cones on the floor - poor R had to be lead through them but he was so chuffed he did it!

Peachy - how did all the appts go? Busy!

Mimi has hairclips now her hair is getting in her eyes a bit too much now and im not cutting it, ever! DH goes to TL in 1 week & 6 days.....eek. A bit but I'm off to Spain for a long weekend in June with a friend I can't wait!

Ellie - thai boxing is amazing Im going to just go on ladies night (fridays) for a few weeks, then i will go on mixed bag blast night (tues) when i get a bit better. You know that beautiful gay man i have a MEGA crush on, well he goes [perve] . But im not going to pair up with DH cos he will kick me across the room

It's so quiet here (home)and none of you gits are here! (MN) lol

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/03/2009 19:46

Actually i think im turning into a gay man. Is Mathew Horne gay?

LadyBee · 16/03/2009 20:22

hello, I've no idea, have completely rubbish gaydar

Am soooooo hungry. Must be properly better. Hoorah!

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/03/2009 20:38

Wiki says he's not, i'm not broken, yay!

I think i look like a boy when im naked, appear to have lost some weight. Also was bitchy woman the other day in Tesco - i was wearing hotpants and tights, and she said loudly 'why dont women just wear trousers' Odd that i even bothered her (didnt htink i looked that offensive LOL)

chipmonkey · 16/03/2009 20:43

Hello everyone! Knackering day at work today. The other optom rang in sick... I'm a bit about that as tomorrow is St Patrick's day and a Bank Holiday here so it is a bit suss her ringing in sick today as it gives her a lovely long weekend, but maybe I am being unfair and overly suspicious and she's actually laid out coughing and spluttering! So I got no expressing break or lunch for ages. Luckily got a locum for the afternoon who was totally thrown in at the deep end with our hi-tech equipment but managed fabulously in the end. So all's well that ends well.

Ellie, I know how hard it is leaving them in to nursery but trust me, it does get easier. After all I've done it 4 times so it can't be that bad if I've managed to do it again each time! The first day with ds1 was the worst, I felt as though I'd given him up for adoption! But he survived and I survived and I think on the whole it's been good for them all.

chipmonkey · 16/03/2009 20:46

Scorpio, she was just jealous! She probably couldn't have crammed her cellulite-laden arse into a pair of hotpants to save her life!

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/03/2009 20:49

I kind of just thought she was a bit odd to even care, tbh, but sometimes i have really low self image issues and wonder what was wrong, iyswim? Tights were very thick and you couldnt see anything!

When i was 3 my mum used to dress me in dungarees and matching shorts & tshirt sets

SalLikesCoffee · 16/03/2009 21:20

Thanks for the new thread, VS, and hello everybody.

Poor Ellie!!! How are you feeling now?

Got home at 8:30 tonight, and has, just as I was about to leave the office, decided that I can't go on this way. So I've sent my boss an email (but hectic at work at moment, and I didn't want to not ask) asking him whether I could fix my hours so that I only work until 1pm on Mondays. I think he'll be fine with it, because he has said before that I should say if I felt I don't get to spend enough time with R. He really is lovely, it's just that there's so much work to do. Really it's my own fault for staying late - I hate missing deadlines, and when dh is home with R I don't mind working late sometimes - kind of boys' time together.

Chipmonkey, are you an optometrist? If so, can I ask you a question, please? Dh seems to have a (viral?) eye infection - really red, teary, swollen eyes. He's been using eye drops (bought over the counter at chemist), but now my eyes are really sore and burning, and was a bit icky when I woke up this morning. My question - is there any specific drops etc that is good? Or tips?
O, and if you're not an optom, do you know anyway??? Thanks.

Oh hell, just remembered there's a fish pie in the oven, and I can smell it burning!

SalLikesCoffee · 16/03/2009 21:22

Oh, and Scorpio, if I saw you with hotpants, I'd make all kinds of snooty comments. Jealous, me??? Never! Ignore her, this is her issues, not yours.

LadyBee · 16/03/2009 21:36

rescue your fishpie Sal!

LadyBee · 16/03/2009 21:39

oh thank goodness, a helicopter has hovering directly over our house for the last 20 minutes, shining a light off somewhere else...it was so loud! am amazed DS hasn't woken.

SalLikesCoffee · 16/03/2009 22:00

Oh my word Ladybee! Good that B's such a deep sleeper then. Isn't it scary when they're there? I sometimes get a bit paranoid if I hear police sirens etc nearby - my imagination is a bit hyper on occasion!

Fish pie was nice, if crispy.

My eyes are really sore, I should probably get off the laptop now. Really I want to have a bath and then bed, but the water supply has been cut off and Thames Water is still fixing it... Urgh.

LadyBee · 16/03/2009 22:28

DP and I kept going outside and looking up at it and then giggling like kids.

Wipe your eyes with clean boiled water and cotton wool, a fresh piece for each wipe like you would a newborn.
