Still can't get over how much DD is sleeping today. She has not even lasted through tea and has gone down for a nap. Will wake her at 5 though and bath then bottle and bed at 6ish...

Lilyloo · 30/09/2008 18:12

Just bookmarking new thread before the torture that is known as bath and bed time

nicky6 · 30/09/2008 19:32

hi all - sorry been absent for a couple of weeks but have had a hellish couple of weeks for reasons my dh has made me promise i wont post. Nothing about him, he has been a little treasure.

Anyway am now back and have not managed to catch up but will join in again from here congrats Mrs Mc great news.

Cant believe we will all soon be heading back to work.

boo hoo xxx

simpson · 30/09/2008 21:02

Hi all, it's quiet here today..

Nicky - sorry you have had a tough time, hope things are improving for you now...

DS been a little star today considering he could not go out much. Think it was helped by some Roary the racing car sleepers and lazy town DVD bought for him this morning.

Angechica - my dad has a season ticket at Town and came over on Sunday with the full kit for DS top, shorts, socks etc. He looked soooo cute

Hope everyone else ok.

Just one more thing, what size teats are everyone ffing using?? Still have DD on medium flow, not sure whether to change or not....

AngeChica · 30/09/2008 21:22

Ha Simpson, must get something for DS to compete with the Palace stuff from DH and his side of the family. Unfortunately I'm sure he will grow up a Palace fan.

We've used the fast flow teats since DS was 6 months. He only has 3 bottles a day now. He is getting a lot better at drinking with his meals but it has to be well-diluted grape juice - I can find nothing else that he likes and he just will not drink water.

Well D day has arrived ... have made my sandwiches and got my clothes ready for work tomorrow . DS has been to childminder for 6 hours today and 4 hours yesterday. He's been great for her but a bit tired with us in the evenings I think because he doesn't get a nap opportunity late afternoon as she has 3 older boys after school so it is quite hectic. Still hopefully he'll sleep well tonight.

Last night we did the sitting by the cot thing and he fussed on and off for nearly an hour, it was hard but I didn't pick him up. Eventually in what felt like a real breakthrough it was DH who got him off and we didn't hear a peep til 6.30 am!!! Tonight just a few minutes of fuss but he was really knackered.

simpson · 30/09/2008 21:57

Angechica - good luck tomorrow Am sure it will be fine. Glad you have a good child minder. I remember DS being V tired at end of the day when at nursery full time but he did adjust.

DD still has 5 bottles a day and refuses to let me cut them down she also seems ok on medium flow so not sure whether to bother changing or not she also eats a lot of solids but noticed today she looks like she has a suntan because she has eaten too many hipp jars

Going to cook fish cakes tomorrow for both Dcs so will see how that goes. Also got LOADS of avacados in house so will mash one up for her.

Mrs Mcjnr - think learn and groove knackered the tune that it makes when page turned over in book happens ALL the time non stop Grrr.. May be batteries are gone though, will change first...

madmouse · 30/09/2008 21:58

hi nicky welcome back hon, whatever it was hope it is ok now

ange, what does fuss sound like? i am doing pick up pat down with nathan and his idea of fuss is an air raid siren , that said this is night three and it only took ten mins or so tonight. He falls asleep feeding, then wakes up 15mins later because he is not attached to me anymore , so I put his grobag on him when he was in his cot so he woke and cried then settled to sleep. I thought great, now he knows he is in his cot so will be ok, but still woke after 15mins. But as I said it only took 10mins. It is tricky, because as soon as I pick him up he sighs, puts his head on my shoulder and off he is, so I have to be quick.

Offered him formula instead of breast at 4.30 this afternoon. Reached for my breast a few times but nothing major. Drank all of about 1/2 or 1 oz from a doidy cup, but that will hopefully improve. he did attack his dinner face first and even had pudding, which he onlynormally does at lunch.

by the way loving my counselling. talking a lot about personal insecurities and needing permission to exist basicaly and I am getting better at telling dh what I need and he is responding well to it. Oh well, it is better than not expressing need then slamming doors and feeling martyr like.

what an amount of waffle, sorry

susie, being daft, but why (((boing)))?

Hi all,

Just getting on thread am absolutely knackered as DD slept like crap last night and looks like its gonna be the same again tonight!

Speak to you all tomorrow.

LaTrucha · 01/10/2008 09:36

o madmouse i'm embarrassed. i thought i was going to the this thread but got it wrong.

DD back to teething after a week of peace. waking every 45 min s or so, so if i'm absent i've fallen asleep face first in my lunch.

JustKeepSwimming · 01/10/2008 10:28

Hello all

We're doing well on sleep here, sorry for those that aren't
2 nights ago both boys 7-6.45
last night 7-6
may start to feel human soon...

And think ds2 starting to cut down on feeds during the day, i'm hoping to settle on 4 for a bit, then think about cutting one out at a time so i can be free stop by his birthday.

madmouse - the counselling sounds v helpful.

simpson - hope you can fix the l&g, what a pain if not

ange - hope work is going ok...

nicky - glad to see you back

right, trying to sort out shelves in both boys rooms - stuff has just been shoved on them out of reach for ages - what does everyone else do with cds once you've put the music on your mp3 player???

LaTrucha · 01/10/2008 12:18

JKS - had you stopped feeding in the night?

Teething is officially horrible.

JustKeepSwimming · 01/10/2008 13:42

LaT - well, i sort of stopped once, things went well, then he was waking at 4am and staying awake until i fed him so i gave in and just fed him whenever, sometimes up to twice a night again which was infuriating when i KNEW he could sleep through.
then he seemed to settle on a 5-ish feed, going back to sleep until ds1 woke him, then moved to a nearly 6 feed, and i still fed him in the dark, put him back in his cot and he was going back to sleep until 8.30/9!! missing breakfast and putting me off schedule
the last few days he's FINALLY got the idea of waking after 6, having a feed and staying awake with his brother until after breakfast.

sorry that was a long answer!
yes, then no, then yes again, then just luck and now i've said something he'll be up tonight!!

JustKeepSwimming · 01/10/2008 13:44

and hey, has anyone noticed my more mature look???

saw something on another thread about having capitals in our names, so now i feel wiser, more perceptive and expect to be taken more seriously

LaTrucha · 01/10/2008 13:47

I hate that feeling JKS. IT's so frustrating when you know they can do it. I swear she'd be doing it again but teething is endless here. We had a week-long bout, a peaceful week and now it's back and no sodding teeth.

She's been in bed with me as she wakes so frequently with teething. I'm a bit suspicious though as she's having long day sleeps. I'm going to put her back in her cot tonight as I think she may just be giving in to temptation.

LOL at schedule.

JustKeepSwimming · 01/10/2008 13:49

luckily (i think) i've never been good at sleeping with babies in the bed so never been tempted/had the problem of putting them back into the cot.
think it can be V useful later on when you just NEED sleep and you know they will nap in your bed with you so not all bad...

thinking lots about winding down bf, i mean i will keep going till 1year but looking forward to freedom

LaTrucha · 01/10/2008 13:55

I keep thinking about quitting because we want TTC and I'm sure I've bored everyone senseless with my pg illness / timing issues. Makes me feel v. though.

JustKeepSwimming · 01/10/2008 14:05

see here to cheer you up!

Lilyloo · 01/10/2008 14:35

Hey how did you all sneak off over here
Hi nicky6 hope all ok
Well done Nathan. Sounds like he's taking to it like a pro.
Don't know if anyone read my post on the last thread but I have ordered myself a mooncup. I've heard so much about them on here plus my rl friend has one and swears by it so I thought I'd give one a try. Has anyone here had experience of one?

simpson · 01/10/2008 16:04

Hi all

Had a pretty good day today and feeling quite chirpy, lets hope it lasts

Took DS to playgroup then went into town and picked up a couple of absolute bargains for Xmas Best one was some bob the builder roller skates which were £7 in Boots.

Picked up DS from playgroup and went home for a few hours DH seems totally fine, I know its early days but am now really hoping he has turned a corner!! DS had lunch there and loved playing with all his toys etc. My mum picked us up when she finished work and we have just got back to hers.

If things go well may do the same on Friday but will stay longer as my mum doesn't finish work till 5ish. DD was good too!!

DD now having nap as she is shattered and DS is watching lazy town (yet again!!) He insisted on bringing his bike back and already we have been round the block 5 times with it!!

Hope everyone ok, chat later...

Gingeme · 01/10/2008 16:10

Thats brilliant news Simpson I realy hope this is a turning point for dh like you said. Lol at round the block 5 times ds3 is a bit like that on his bike

LuckySalem · 01/10/2008 16:19

Another crap night last night. I don't know what it is. She's stopped having an extra sleep in the afternoon now so maybe that's the problem?

LaTrucha · 01/10/2008 16:41

I think it's quite common for them to have a bad sleeping patch just after they've learned to crawl. It's all just too exciting for them and they want to practise all the time. Hope you're bearing up Lucky.

Simpson - glad it's been a good day and the DCs enjoyed playing with their toys.

Thinking about Christmas shopping but can't quite do it!

Gingeme - no experience of mooncups. Good luck with yours!
