Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LuckySalem · 02/10/2008 19:57

Yeh I think thats how he pronounced it too. President in WW. Shortened to Jed.

LuckySalem · 02/10/2008 19:59

Sorry Simpson I dont know about toileting. Hope you break it soon though.

I'm going Eng Lit. I signed up and now have to wait 7-14 days for material to come through. Am soooo excited.

Lilyloo · 02/10/2008 20:01

Simpson sorry no advice other than the usual reward for poo in potty etc. I also think he may be nore unsettled due to all changes with his dad so now may not be the time to come down too tough on this or food ?

Tola even better would be helium balloons i got dd 1 for her christening and she played with it loads pulling on the string but could never keep it down to put in her mouth!

Tolalola · 02/10/2008 20:18

jed yes - that was the name i remember. ugh not sure about it as an abbreviation for ds, i must say.

helium balloons are a great idea - christening is next w/e, so maybe i will try one then as a practice run for 10 on bday!

nicky6 · 02/10/2008 20:51

oh god taken ages to catch up and now no time.
welcome to newcomers - i was one of the originals from about 8 weeks pregnant and we have met up a few times too - although our dh's at the time thought we could all be axe murderers in truth only some of us are.

mad week too busy by half and the same next week although at least my mum coming up one day.

New series of Heroes hoorah - reminds me I wonder how Beller is doing?

AngeChica · 02/10/2008 21:10

Hi all, Mum seems to be doing OK now thanks.

Had nice day today, toddler group then swimming. Hopefully worn LO out and he won't wake at 2am like he has done past few nights.

Hi Cazzy, welcome back, and Tola! you in the Carribean and we in "brisk" Northumberland!

Cazzy & madmouse it is early days but I have a friend who worked for this organisation, unfortunately it is based in the north east but I wonder if you have any similar support available wherever you live. The work they do is rather amazing. See also the "conductive education" section on this site. That is the philosophy it is based on, I believe it is like a kind of intensive physiotherapy that runs throughout all strands of a child's learning which can help them learn motor skills in a different way (sorry, find it hard to explain). It's really interesting stuff though.

Good choice Lucky I can't stand maths - in my brief stint as a primary school teacher I hated teaching it too, even at that level. I did Eng Lit A level.

LaT when you off to Spain?

simpson · 02/10/2008 22:01

Lucky - when does course start? Think it is a fab idea to do!!

Well going to spend the whole day with DH tomorrow so fingers X. Going to get DD weighed in the morning so suspect they will do 8mth check...

Angechica - glad your mum is not too bad.

Tolalola - shop round the corner does helium peppa pig balloons might treat DS this weekend to one!!

Hi to everyone else!!

Lilyloo · 02/10/2008 22:05

Simpson good lukc for tom
Ange why only brief stint as teacher ?

simpson · 02/10/2008 22:15

Lilyloo - forgot to add got some absolute bargains from £ shop today for DS - fake lego, pretend mobile phone, coloured chalk (for existing blackboard), sticker book on wild animals, sticker book on peppa pig....

BUT I got the thingie I wanted for DD you blow it up and it rolls with bells in etc from Wilkinsons for £3!!!

Loving this bargain Xmas shopping.... Only 3 days left on my bid for the (plastic) Wolf, DS is beside himself!!...

MrsMcJnr · 02/10/2008 22:30

Simpson ? how sweet about DS and the wolves! Ahh! I did Eng Lit A level too always go for brown cheeses in Triv Pursuit!

Hey Cazzy hon, lovely to hear from you sorry to hear that you have had a hard time with your DD she sounds like a real joy though stay with us this time!

Welcome Tolalola!! sounds very exotic where you are! Josiah is a lovely name

JKS ? sounds a bit like my technophobe DH!

Hey Lilyloo I remember that photo of Cazzy too LOL about the club, not sure I could even stay up that late!

Gingeme ? you do sound busy! I don?t recall diamonds being particularly cheap in Thailand.

LaTrucha ? glad you are feeling better yes, we know El Gordo (been trying to win it for years and will be trying again this Christmas! My parents think that I should be focusing on getting a job here is Spain rather than on my family but they don?t get that I actually feel the other way round, time to put the career on hold and have babies!!! I know what you mean about baby clothes, especially Spanish ones ? sooo small!

Poor you Lucky, sounds like a hard day! Good for you re the A level!

Nicky ? isn?t it fab to have Heroes back?! I wonder about Beller a lot too.

Angechica ? glad to hear that abut your Mum

Had first drs appointment today, all went reasonably well, the baby is in the right place but it?s too early for a heartbeat yet. I start my meds tomorrow plus progesterone because apparently I have PCOS! Sort of suspected that but never seen a specialist about it.

Tolalola · 02/10/2008 23:37

hmmm true caribbean is lovely but i have to battle dengue mosquitos (like malaria but no preventative medicine) and a mysterious and rather worrying glut of scorpions at the moment. as ds is constantly eating everything, am hoping it's not a matter of time before he puts one in his mouth....

LaTrucha · 03/10/2008 11:34

Congrats on good appointment MrsMC. Do the meds make you feel ill? PCOS! You're very good at conceiving for one with PCOS
It's lovely watching the little children 'sing' the numbers on 'El GOrdo' isn't it? I agree with you on babies. I think it would be so hard to have one, start career, have another, restart career etc.

Angechica - we're off around the end of January for 6 - 9 months.

Tolalola - holey moley! Scorpions! DH syas the only time he saw his dad scared was when they had a yellow scorpion in their house (DH Spanish).

Well done on English A level Lucky - Which board, do you know? I used to teach it so if you get stuck you're welcome to chat.

LaTrucha · 03/10/2008 11:36

Anyone else find mumsnet has weirded out lately. Seems very glitchy. Wouldn't let me finish post.

Simpson - hope today is going well with DH.

We're getting awful sleep here - or lack of - teething but no teeth still. I'm sure we must set some kind of record for awful teething. DH is contempalting sending me to Spain early to be looked after it's so bad. I'm having none of it though.

Cazzybaby · 03/10/2008 11:39

Hi Ladies

Thanks for the welcomes! This thread moves so fast!
Madmouse - I remember your support thread from back in Jan, you must have been through so much with Nathan. How is he doing now?

Lilyloo - i really should change that pic - def wouldnt be putting up a recent pic of me in a bikini hehe, i dont think I will ever look like that again! DD has had problems from about 4 months when she wasnt holding her head up.

Gingeme - Talking of halloween they have some really good dress up bits in Woolworths very reasonable, my friend dessed her 11 week old up in a pumpkin outfit the other day he looked sooooo funny!
Tolalola - Josiah is a lovely name very different. You've just sent goose bumps up my spine talking about the creepy bugs!

AngeChica - great link thanks.

MrsMcJnr - Hi! Will try and stick around this time! And by babies do you mean you are preg again?? BIG congrats if you are!!

Hi To everyone else! What is everyone upto today? I am meeting up with the ladies that I met at my new mums group when our DC's where all about 10 weeks old, we meet up every FRi its lovely now that the babies are older they are so funny to watch together. I have to keep an eye on DD tho as she is small and cannot sit up she gets crawled all over by her friends the poor thing lol.

madmouse · 03/10/2008 15:39

Hi all

We have a tooth , it appeared in the end with no fuss at all, just was there all of a sudden while I was waiting for the screaming to start it didn't.

LaTrucha, are you sure it is teething? Last time Nathan behaved like that I thought it was teething at first but it turned out to be a double ear infection. Maybe have it checked?

Cazzy, we were given a worst case scenario, but Nathan is doing really well. We were warned about serious visual impairment, but he sees perfectly and the consultant has stopped worrying about it.

He may well develop epilepsy, but so far all we have is a small head, but very bright baby, and what looks like mild cerebral palsy.

How about your little one? When did you start to notice something wrong? What is she able to do? Does she have physio? If not get it. There is also a very helpful book called Teaching motor skills to children with cerebral palsy.

Physio was here this morning and she is very pleased. Nathan's hand is much more relaxed, his arm is getting stronger and he uses it more and more. He also sat unaided for her for almost a minute. She would not espect him to sit for another month, so was very impressed. [heart bursting with pride emoticon]. crucially, while the consultant thought it is in all limbs, the physio can only find anything on the right, which is great news too. I felt so light afterwards, all the hard work is really paying off. She is going to order some soft splints to keep his arms straight during exercises, as I just do not have enough arms to do it all .

And she now has a student to train so they are coming every week so the student can see Nathan progress. I am happy enough, the more the better.

Lucky, well done to you, education is power! Contact your local LEA, you may be able to get a grant.

Have been asked to join the management committee of our local community centre so went to first meeting yesterday evening, with Nathan in tow! They are a barmy lot and their business sense makes me . I think I will have fun, but I already had some interesting questions that popt straight into my lawyer head

Hello to everyone else. Sorry for another long waffle

OP posts:
Gingeme · 03/10/2008 15:40

Afternoon ladies.
I did a great big post and George turned the pc off they learn young !
Thanks for the tip about my mooncup Tolalola. Shame Ive got to wait another month to use it though.
Can't do the dinnerlady job after all dh is on shorter hours atm because of his back but once hes back to full time he would be starting any time from 1pm - 3pm so no good for me. Ah well.
Simpson re pooh in pants. Just go with the flow I'm afraid. As Lillyloo said he may just be attention seeking for a bit till things are a bit more stable as far as dh is concerned. Keep at it your doing brill.
Ooh scorpions how exciting
How are you Cazzy?
Hi to everyone else

madmouse · 03/10/2008 15:43

Gingeme · 03/10/2008 15:51

cross post mm you have no worries with Nathan. Were gonna have to do a meet up soon me thinks. Any suggestions?

LaTrucha · 03/10/2008 16:45

HI MM - we've had her ears checked. Sadly (????) she just does take teething that badly. well done on tooth and physio.

Cazzybaby · 03/10/2008 17:23

Madmouse - we are having physio and see the OT every other week, really happy with the care we are getting. DD is not yet sitting unaided, they are trying to get us a special chair to use at home to help her sitting position. She can role but gets her arms stuck! She is also a bright little thing all her problems seem to be physical, she also has a sqint but can see fine Well done to Nathan for sitting for a whole minute! Bet it was really lovely to see and also to realise all your hard work is paying off!

Hi Gingeme I am fine! Had a busy day here and off to work tonight! How are you and your boys??

LaTracha - feel for you and the teething!

simpson · 03/10/2008 19:07
