Hi Ladies

Was wondering if I could join this thread? I used to post on the due in Jan antenatel thread seems like so long ago now, and have been reading from time to time!

I have one DD she is 8 months now. Its been a tough ride for us as DD is not achieving the mile stones that most babies achieve, She has susspected Cerebral Palsy but we are still waiting for an MRI scan to comfirm.

BUT she is a happy smiley little girl which is the most important thing

Looking forward to joining in and chatting with you all

C x

Hello. Erm not sure so much how post-natal groups work - were you all friends from when you were ante-natal, or can presumptious like me jump in and be part of the gang too? (DS born 3 Jan 08)

JustKeepSwimming · 02/10/2008 07:32

Tolalola - more the merrier, welcome
(some of us were on an antenatal thread together, others have joined since, doesn't matter either way)

Cazzy - welcome back sorry to hear of troubles with dd. when are you hoping to get the mri?
Milestones aren't all they're cracked up to be...

MrsMc - our cds are now boxed up in loft as of yesterday! dh not too impressed 'what if i want to listen to some in the car?' it's only been months/years since he's taken even one into the car! plus he bought an expensive mp3 player a while back so should learn to link that to the speakers instead!!

Simpson - wolves? oh well, each to their own i guess
glad dh was better and hope it continues.

Madmouse - i thank you for your humbleness ok i'm over it now!
nathan IS doing fabulously, you know that, but i'm sure it's lovely to hear it from those who know.

Gingeme - of course if the win was big enough, but the stress of moving? would like to pay off mortgage here first then have time to think about where my 'ideal' house might be....South Africa, small place in Normandy, flat in Brisbane to visit BIL&SIL who are emigrating next year, etc..

Ange - that is sooo scary for you mum and you! glad work went well.

Lilyloo - thanks
you are getting organised for christmas, i must get moving re family stuff, esp as it looks like everyone will be at ours this year

Love the Pound Shop & Factory Shop for stocking stuff. Will write a list......

JustKeepSwimming · 02/10/2008 07:33

Oh and LaT - it's all your fault!!! Ds2 up at 3am for a feed
ah well, he's still asleep now so will hopefully wake in time for breakfast and not sneak in an extra feed!

madmouse · 02/10/2008 09:14

Hey Cazzy nice to see you
Sorry it's been so tough with dd remember your preg pi in bikini
Have they suspected this from birth ? How are you must be a shock ? MM on here has lo who they gave prognosis and he has achieved much more than they hoped already so guess it still early days!
Tolalola welcome no set rules to joining we all come and go ! Nearly a new year lo then!
JKS oh dear maybe you shouldn't tell us when he has good night in case you jinx him!
I know what you mean about list i have been buying things and hiding them am sure i am going to forget what i have got!

simpson · 02/10/2008 09:51

Hi all

Welcome Cazzy and Tolalola

DD been whinging ALL morning, honestly she is impossible unless she gets your undivided attention or we are out not easy when DS has to be ready for playgroup!!

Have put her in cot so i can have 5mins peace while I eat breakfast

Nothing much planned here today but when DS is back he will probably want to go round block 100 times on his bike

Gingeme · 02/10/2008 10:49

Welcome Talola and cazzy.
Another 5am wake up here, bottle, then back to sleep till 7.30. If only he would miss that 5am then he could move to his big brothers room. He shouts for them in the morning as soon as he hears them
My parents are in Thailand at the moment. My Dad texted me this morning to say my Mum had spent loads of money in a diamond shop! Are they cheap in Thailand? Anyone know? They don't have alot of money
What does everyone have planned for Halloween? ds4's bday is the 24th so were having a joint party on the 25th. My big boys are here too because its half term so they are going to take ds3 trick or treating Halloween localy . We also have my cousins wedding on the 1st of November so a busy end of the month. Not even thinking about Christmas yet.
Well I hear the kettle calling
Take care all xxx

LaTrucha · 02/10/2008 10:55

STOP ALL THIS EBAYING!

I get obssessed! ANd you guys have just given me itchy feet.

If we won the lottery, the first thing we would do is to buy each of our dads a Mercedes. Then a house big enough for the whole family to go on holiday together in Northern Spain. Then I'd probably be really daring and buy a whole set of Nursery things from Blooming Marvellous .

You may have guessed, we have discussed this, although we haven't bought a lottery ticket since Christmas but our regular numbers haven't come up anyway. I kind of disapprove of the lottery anyway.

Angechica - hope your mum is feeling well. Glad work is good.

Hi Nicky - hope back to work is going well.

Gingeme - Do you ever bundle up older DCs toys and give them as pressies? You must know exactly what will go down well by now.

MM - lol at the woodlouse. ~I found a weevil city in one of my cupboards yesterday . Give Nathan a wave from me.

MrsMC - talking of loteries, have you seen 'El Gordo'? You must watch it this Christmas. Glad to know you're feeling fine. Sorry to be nosey, but why would your parents not be pleased.

Hi Cazzy and Tolalola!

Sorry not more personals, but I'm finally well enough to leave the house (have been in for five days) and the sun is shining!

Gingeme · 02/10/2008 10:59

LaTrucha what do you mean by bundle up toys?
When we have a sort out of toys they usualy go to our local playgroup , where ds4 will be going in November, or charity shop. ds3 is usualy fine with all this because he knows the playgroup as he went there
Gonna have to do it again soon once ds4's birthday has passed

LaTrucha · 02/10/2008 11:53

I mean put DS3s toys away to give to DS5 etc. Sounds like not.

Tolalola · 02/10/2008 14:09

You can't buy ANYTHING good for kids where we are so DP and I were v.v. smug and bought Christmas pressies when we had a stop over in New York on our way back here (West Indies) from UK in August. We got a wooden duck on a stick that flaps when pushed along and a shape-sorter thing.

Completely forgot about his b-day though so it will probs be one for xmas and one for birthday.

Gingeme - mooncups are brilliant!!

LaTrucha · 02/10/2008 16:10

We have a seal on a stick like that.

I've bought a little trolley filled with cubes for her, but forgetting that we're going to Spain for 6 months and won't be able to take it.

Anyone else finding baby clothing sizes completely random? I'm getting cross about it because I have to order most things online and then they come in biarre sizes and it's a pain to return things all the time.

Tolalola · 02/10/2008 16:19

oooh i really wanted one of those cube trolley things but couldn't carry it back - poor ds will probably never learn to walk forwards at this rate, cos all he can do is go sideways round and round the coffee table

YES re: baby clothes sizes!! it's sooo annoying - some things he's still happily in 6 month stuff and some things he's squeezing into 9-12. ugh.

Gingeme · 02/10/2008 16:50

Realy Talola would you reccomend mooncups then? Lol at your lo not ever walking forward
Oh yes LaTrucha ds5 is currently playing with toys both ds3&4 had . He is definately cutting another tooth his right cheek is bright red and he has been so moany this afternoon. He hasn't wanted his naps today either so I think it will be early bedtime tonight for all of us.
Baby clothes are different from every shop I have discovered that over the years. I have found Asda and Tesco stuff comes up a bit bigger. With all the kids clothes including uniform
I helped ds3 with his lunch at school today and was chatting to one of the dinner ladies,a rl friend, and she mentioned they will be needing a dinner lady soon. I made a few enquiries at the school office and they are going to send me an application form as soon as the position is available . I won't be able to work in the same playground as ds3 though

LaTrucha · 02/10/2008 17:24

LOL gingeme - that would be a cute job. Would ds be pleased?

Tolalola - what is ds's name? what is this big trip? [nosey emoticon]

I just spent ages agonising over kids clothes on Debenhams website. They've got super cute stuff and I thought I'd treat myself. The site kept crashing at the checkout though. Someone wiser than me is telling me to keep my pennies!

I just looked out a 9-12 month fleece I bought ages ago and it's almost too small. grrrr. Sabela is only little for her age too!

Can't believe she's 9 months and one day! Can't believe I'm so excited at the prospect of getting pg again, (we're going to start trying aroubd New Year) especially after the time I had! Babies do funny things to the brain.

simpson · 02/10/2008 17:43

Right I need help!!

Anyone with an older child what do you do if they refuse to eat dinner? What age can you say ok but thats all you get.

I cooked Ds's favourite tea tonight and he would not eat it "don't like it its yukky!" etc...This has been going on ALL week and I know its because he is unsettled.

But then an hour later he says he is hungry... is he too young at 3 for me to get tough??

LuckySalem · 02/10/2008 18:17

I feel horrible again today.
DD slept a little better but the monitor picks up the dogs barking across the road so that kept waking me up.

DD has been STUPIDLY annoying today. She screamed when we picked her up, put her down, fed her, didn't feed her. I ended up having to put her in her cot where she screamed the house down. I went in there every couple of minutes to try to calm her down and she eventually went to sleep.

Welcome to the new people!! Sorry I'm not being personal lately.

LuckySalem · 02/10/2008 18:36

Simpson - DD is probably too young for this but we make her a meal and if she doesn't eat it she doesn't get a choice of something else.

Some news from me I'm going to distance learn an A-level just trying to decide between Maths and Eng Lit

Gingeme · 02/10/2008 19:27

No he isn't too young to get tough. He knows exactly whats going on. If he doesn't eat it tell him he has 5 minutes to eat it if he has not it goes in the bin and he gets nothing else until breakfast. Trust me it works yes realy.

Lilyloo · 02/10/2008 19:40

Simpson no i think he is old enough to learn that lesson now!

Gingeme that would be a great job for school hours but who would have your littlies ?

Lucky i would do whichever you found easier at school! I am doing a maths gcse as i need it for teacher training. I hate maths and was pleased to get a d at school am doing it online and finding it hard going! However loved english got two a's and did that for my degree! Def helps to one you have an interest in and enjoy!

Tola wow west indies how lovely! Ah well they don't really know much at the min about pressies anyway! Good tip on martin lewis today saying get a big box and fill with balloons know dc's would love this!

LaT m&s always come up small i find but next are pretty good sizes!

Well have had a lovely aft in the hairdressers this afternoon have forgot what it's like to not have a whiny baby hanging off your leg rubbing snot on it Am also off out on Saturday night maybe even to a club not sure if i can remember what to do

Tolalola · 02/10/2008 19:51

mooncups yes! brilliant not to have to lug tampons around, esp. when going on holiday etc. although it's bloody handy to have some baby wipes about when using them in public loos where not able to carry then to sink to wash. i usually use disabled loos when i have to use public ones and have the curse cos they always have a basin in the cubicle.

latrucha - ds is called josiah. we came on a big trip to the uk this summer to visit friends/family etc for 3 weeks - it was LOVELY. it was all cold and rainy and we thought it was wonderful - other ppl thought we were mad but it's BOILING here even now...can't wait for it to cool down.

love the balloons in a box idea - might try that as long as i can work out how to prevent him from eating them....

LuckySalem · 02/10/2008 19:53

Tola - As in Josiah Barlett? (west wing) Is it pronounced the same?

Tolalola · 02/10/2008 19:56

oooh was he josiah? had forgotten. is pronounced joss-eye-uh

simpson · 02/10/2008 19:57

Hi all

Lucky - I did English Lit a-level and LOVED it!! But agree with everyone else go for what you found easier at school.

Sorry to keep badgering for info on toddlers but DS STILL pooing in pants it has been 3mths now, he definitely knows when he is doing one as he hides in house. Do I keep ignoring it or get tougher, am at the end of my tether!! Probably because I am on my own ATM so doing everything...any help gratefully received!!
