hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
simpson · 17/11/2008 16:13

LaT - Sod what other people think go for a name you like regardless

You could be pg!! However cerazette made me feel very pg like when I was on it and took a few wks to get out of system iyswim. Had sore boobs, felt sick etc was another reason I came off it...

BUT I was 2hrs late taking it one time and got pg with DS so you never know....

Gingeme - am that your neighbour has a tree up already!!

Lilyloo · 17/11/2008 16:16

Will miss not having a real tree will have to make up my mind though although ds was choosing which tree we would be getting on the way home and asked if we could get it now!

LaT it's not a mamas and papas it's a tchibo but might try the reins idea just not sure how would attach them to the chair. If not a booster seat it is! Have to at least try though as highchair only couple months old! And remember that 'feeling' with all 3 of mine!

Gingeme surely you would be really bored of your decs by xmas if you put them up now! Doubt you will be as lucky with George when it's at home and it's the only unusual thing in his environment!

We actually off to get our decs for dc this weekend. We let them choose a bauble for the tree every xmas makes for a very 'colourful' tree! From the xmas display at the garden centre will be Martha's first one and dd1 already decided she getting a pink butterfly!

LaTrucha · 17/11/2008 16:26

Hmm.. we really didn't want to ttc JUST yet (although we knew what we were doing, of course. At the time it seemed like a good idea! )

OK. Another biscuit question. Are Farley's Rusks evil? I know they have sugar and I know there are alternatives. Do you use them?

LaTrucha · 17/11/2008 16:27

Two hours! Blimey Simpson!

simpson · 17/11/2008 16:27

Lilyloo - you might be able to attach the reins to the back of the material strap on seat. Will make more sense when you look at it!!

Lilyloo · 17/11/2008 16:30

yeah they seem quite strong will try that!

LaT lol at evil dd tends to have any biscuit i have in so don't buy rusks but they all have sugar!

simpson · 17/11/2008 16:43

LaT - I have given in and bought farleys rusks which I mash up with milk to give more milk to DD as she doesn't have enough ff.

LaTrucha · 17/11/2008 16:54

I've got a packet which I bought when I started weaning. I just thought, 'I remember those, they're yummy.' Then I saw how much sugar they have. Just wondering whether to use them, seeing as she has already gorged herself on 'nice' biscuits.

simpson · 17/11/2008 17:00

Whenever i give DD a rusk, I tend to eat one too They are yummy!!!

LaTrucha · 17/11/2008 17:25

Do you mash it in milk?

simpson · 17/11/2008 17:30

LOL!! Far to greedy for that just gets eaten in 2 bites!!

Just bought some more from the pound shop today actually.

Suprisingly Ds doesn't like them...more for me and DD

LuckySalem · 17/11/2008 17:52

Need some advice ladies - ignoring the price as I am gonna look for it cheaper elsewhere but what do you think of this for DD for xmas? Do you think she's too old for it already given that she's crawling and cruising around - I was hoping it would entertain her and encourage her to stand alone.

Also in babyclub and other people houses she seems to take to some toys that I was thinking of getting her including a HUGE abacus is this just cos they're new or do you think she'd enjoy it at home too? - Am really stumped on what to get her as she has so many toys but they are mainly little rattles etc. I want to get her something more grownup.

simpson · 17/11/2008 19:33

Lucky - Ds got an abacus for his birthday which DD actually plays with more than him Think that would be a great idea as it would last for ages and when she's bigger will help to learn colours, numbers etc.

Other toy looks fab, but pricey. If you can get it quite a bit cheaper else where then think its great!!

simpson · 17/11/2008 19:34

Also forgot to add when DS was a year old we got him some stacking cups from ELC and they were a big hit, he still plays with them now!!

Gingeme · 17/11/2008 19:59

Lucky looks fab. Try Smyths if you have one near you. If not try their website. They are alot cheaper than ToyRus. Stacking cups are fab. We got two sets from Ikea. The boys play with them in the bath too because a couple of them have a hole and lots of holes like a culender. I guess if we had a sand pit they could be used in there. They were 99p!
ds5 Doesn't like Farleys Rusks he prefers rich tea biscuits
My neighbour always puts her tree up in November and takes it down late Jan. Too long for me. Ours goes up 14th Dec(my sisters birthday) and comes down 3rd Jan.

LuckySalem · 17/11/2008 20:41

We've got the cups for the bath - she loves them and puts all her "bath animals" in them to hide them. Makes a HUGE thing about them coming back out of "hiding" and you have to say boo! lol

Will look at Smiths - Got one in town so that'll be nice and easy. Thanks
Glad the abacus sounds good. I've passed them on as present ideas but can't think of anything else and the likes of great-grandparents can't afford more than about £10 so don't know what else to ask for that isn't gonna be too babyish. She's got 3 boxes full of rattley things and don't want anymore.

AngeChica · 17/11/2008 20:52

Hi Midge another 29 Jan baby here too

Up v early as DH was away last night at a conference, staggering around dog walk with DS in back carrier grizzling before getting him to childminder and work was NOT ideal this morn!

Bath and bed now. I cannot bear to watch the baby P programme even though it is probably quite important.... I have tried to avoid reading the case in too much detail because find it too harrowing. Wrote to MP today though.

LuckySalem · 17/11/2008 21:00

The baby P thing is very sad but I keep finding myself reading everything I can - I don't know why cos it just upsets me but anything I can find to explain about it makes me look.
Maybe i'm trying to find an explanation I don't know. DP thinks I'm wierd for it.

simpson · 17/11/2008 21:17

Can't read about it TBH find it upsetting

Lilyloo · 17/11/2008 21:28

Just talking about this with dp can't read it but he has told me some of the things.
Pretty shocking treatment though of Shabster who is on the bereaved mummy thread with regards to this. She was banned over the weekend for her comments which was completely out of order imo!

LuckySalem · 17/11/2008 21:29

Seriously? What she say (phrased without getting yourself banned obviously) or just link?

simpson · 17/11/2008 21:33

Lilyloo - I read what she said and that is shocking Didn't know she had been banned.

Think she got in trouble for going to another thread and saying venting about the previous thread but she was treated v badly I think.

Lucky - think she might also have got banned for saying some not very nice things about people who have left MN ( I agreed with her BTW)

MrsMcJnr · 17/11/2008 21:54

Hey ladies wow, it?s been busy on here!

Angechica LOL at DH?s comment! I can?t read about Baby P either these things really haunt me

Madmouse ? I hear all you say and have to say that is one of my biggest fears about the screening tests, there are so many false positives and you never know the degree to which there is an issue, and like you say, Nathan is proof that early prognosis is not always accurate. He?s such a bright little star I?m sorry I wasn?t around in the early days, they must have been a living nightmare for you and DH Fingers crossed for you on the no 2 front

Lilyloo ? LOL about the elastic band, too uncomfy! poor DD so upset about swimming! That?s a lovely idea about the Christmas decs

Simpson ? LOL at DS?s comment about what Molly does DS has those stacking cups and adores them.

Poor you Lucky, hope you are feeling better. That activity centre looks fun

JKS ? Sorry that your night was unsettled it must be so hard. I agree about family names sounding good together by the way

Gingeme ? nice to have inherited some money enjoy it can?t believe your neighbour has a tree up!

Hello and welcome Midge

Hey LaT re names, you?ve got a Spanish surname haven?t you? Guess you need names that work in both languages. sounds interesting on the pg front, remember I?d stopped BFing 2 weeks before I got pg and I hadn?t had a period?.! I give DS Organix biscuits, they are a massive hit (as are the rice cakes)

Lilyloo · 17/11/2008 21:56

Lucky didn't even see something to do with Cod obv Simpson did.

However seems to have intruded on the bereaved mummy thread which is completely wrong imo as is banning someone on mn for having an opinion.

I met one of the mums on there when she lost her dd and shabs was lovely to her makes me so upset to think that mnet is about that.

LuckySalem · 17/11/2008 21:58

I've just arranged to go swimming on Sunday with my friend and her 3 year old DD. I'm so excited - how sad am i? LMAO.
DP thinks the activity centre is too much i'm looking into an abacus now - need a big one though

Feeling better now - managed to keep dinner down so must be getting better although I think DD has a mild case of it as she was soo lethargic today and has had a bad belly for the past 3 days. - She normally goes 2 days without poos but the last 3 days she's had 2 everyday and REALLY runny so not sure.... Meant to be going to babyclub tomorrow but don't know if it's safe to do it. She loves it so much though.
