Now paint your face blue, and stick your tongue out at the world - end especially the half-wit-mid-life-crisis-lacking-common-sense-PMT-suffering-eejits we otherwise call men.

eandh, ratbunny, susie, UD - this one's for you

I've just spent over £50 at the chineese herbalist.
I went to the Drs today and he perscribed yet more various creams for my hands and eye lids and told me he wasn't sure if they would work. And showed me some gross photos of how bad it could get. And said he had no idea what was causing it but it was some kind of yeast infection. Great. So I asked him if he could recommend any local homeopaths as I hate just treating effects and not causes. He said he personally used alot of chinese remedies and recommended I see them.
So, instead of spending £20 on a perscription for stuff I went to see them and got a ton of herbs to bathe my hands and face in, and some tablets. She reckond my chi was out, and my yang was too strong. (my heat element was too strong) apparently I have been worrying about things and not sleeping properly. can fall asleep standing up at the moment!
Will let you know if they work. Definately cant get much worse.
Am off to 2nd birthday party of a little girl down our road later, I totally indulged and brought a fairy dressing up outfit. Everyone keeps saying that its obvious I want a girl. But I snapped at DP last night and said IF we ever had another baby I wouldnt care what it was as long as it was healthy...however, there is no way in a million years that we will be having anymore. DJ is far too much hard work at the moment!
Finally: UD (or any other 'alternative' tv programme viewers) Did you catch "Tin Man" on Sci-Fi last night????? Its soooooo good! I have got DP to download all 3 x 1.5 hour episodes!

DH - interesting about them sleeping in the same room so well - we've been humming and ha-ing about doing that with our 2. ds2 is still in our room, which means whenever dh is on call he has to sleep in the spare room. But ds2 been sleeping appallingly past week, then at weekend came out in a rash. But at CM today, we (CM, me and another mum) were comparing our kids' identical rashes, so clearly viral!! Might try moving them this weekend, dh not on call so if it's a disaster one of us can sleep while the other looks after the kids...
eandh put this link in about single beds a bit ago - I bookmarked it thinking I'd need ideas for ds2 anon!! Doesn't have a guard though.
Wilkie - hope the drs appt goes well
ratbunny - thanks for the update, I really hope he gets the help he needs. So awful about his childhood
vino - hope your naps are going well!
RGee - my oldest sister would like another baby, but bil is dead against it. She was thinking about having an "accident" but then figured that every single pg niggle, or any bad days with the kids after it was born, or times they couldn't afford to do something, she figured he'd just say "well you were the one that wanted another baby" - which is pretty mean, but possible, and it would just eat away at them. So she's going to wait and see if he changes his mind

Ummm, Lizz, did your doctor check your thyroid? It can make you very tired, and also make your skin very dry. Sorry, tell me to butt out if you like!

Afternoon - its been busy here today

Rat - echo what everyone else has said (hugs) you know we're here if you need us

Wilkie - love that climbing frame they used to have that at the toddler group I took Ellie to, what did Drs say about migranes?
DH been behaving, he had a couple of beers on saturday during football but stopped and had soft drinks sat night when we went to my brothers (he never does that)

PCF - thats so cute about alex, hattie misses ellie when shes at preschool so I bet Max thinks its all very quiet at the mo

DH - will google beds for you later, Is Luke in big bed or toddler bed (if toddler bed would it be better to get Luke a divan bed and give his toddler bed to Ruth?) Ellie never had toddler bed went straight into normal divan with a bedguard on and Hattie only has toddler bed because we had cotbed but we'll probably buy her a proper single size divan bed next year (same as PCF I have a full size duvet on tehre and just tuck extra down the side although doi have fitted cot bed sheets as Hattie used to unpull normal ones)

Lizz - pmsl about sleep, both of then slept last night and I am more knackered than when they wake up hope the lotions and potions work and enjoy the party

Eddas went to summer fayre yesterday and spotted a Belle (beauty and the beast) dressing up dress for £1 and as her dd isnt into dressing up she got it for Ellie who has gone to my Mums dressed in it today (apaprently my Mum let her wear it shopping and she'd have never have let me when I was little ) I had to get some new cutlery for Ellie today and found junior size (bigger than baby cutlery but smaller than adults) so Ellie now has new princess cutlery and plate and Hattie has a new beaker and placemat (fab website that does proper placemats but personalised so ordered one for Hattie)

Vin - hope the naps are helping

SmoothandWilkie · 19/05/2008 15:05

Well, Dr has prescribed slow release beta blockers to try. She has also told me to cut back my ADs so I just take them for last two weeks of period cycle, take Oil of Evening Primrose 1000mg every day and start taking Folic Acid to build up supplies in readiness for baby making (which, I hasten to add, is a way off yet).

EAH - challenge for you: I want to find some cool space themed bedroom stuff but NOT branded and NOT realistic i.e. love cartoonish/NEXT style stuff IYKWIM. Aliens, spacecrafts, stars the works - J is going to have a COOL new bedroom in the new house.

Lizz - my BF has really bad eczema which comes out when she is stressed. Her sis was killed in a car accident a few years ago which triggered it. Is there anything stressing you? I wonder is tiredness is exacerbating it? Will ask her what she uses.

All the stuff has come from solicitors, estimate is 6 weeks. Landlady is coming TONIGHT at 7pm so will let you know how we get on.

Please will someone else comment on my razor posting, even if you aren't interested, it just helps my report and boosts my rating so I get entered into better campaign trials. Thank you xxx

eandh · 19/05/2008 15:22

Lizzzombie · 19/05/2008 19:21

Wilkie - re razor posting. That sounds an interesting product. I'd be interested in purchasing something like that. Send me a coupon! I'm addicted to depilation products, and have a draw full of them!
Have also joined bzz thing...anything for a freebie! HTH.

2happy - thyroid?? Am off to look that up now. Scarey! I swear I never used to go to the Drs before I had LO. He's turned me into a hypocondriac!

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 19/05/2008 19:55

Rats - will just echo what I said in my txt earlier - make sure you protect you and S. Please. People with depression can be so manipulative and will do anything to keep things to their advantage (sometimes)

Liz - no i've not seen that, is it any good?

Will post more later - am off to eat my tea!!

eandh · 19/05/2008 20:03

Wilkie - for your razor thing - sounds interesting and dh may appreciate me leaving his razor alone so put me down for a coupon

SmoothandWilkie · 19/05/2008 21:08

Landlady brought her DH with her. They were really nice and said as long as we or they get another tenant we can go with no strings attached, get our bond back etc.

So here's hoping we find another tenant and sharpish!

Lizzzombie · 19/05/2008 21:43

eah - - so pleased its not just me!!!
2happy - I looked up thyroid symptoms, and spoke to my Mum (a nurse). Have decided to ask Dr for a blood test. Thanks for that pointer. x

Lizzzombie · 19/05/2008 21:45

UD - TIN MAN
Have a look. I thought it was quite good. Its got Zoey Deschanel, Richard Dreyfuss and Alan Cummings in it to name a few.

susiecutiebananas · 19/05/2008 22:20

Wilkie, I would love to try one of those, a coupon would be great if possible. I have a nightmare every time I do my legs, I always cut myself spectacularly, by the time I get to the bed room there is a trail of blood from my lover legs. I don't know how I do it, I think i must have really thin skin or something! It's got to help if the razor is really moisturised i.e. with a block? So, a huge yes please from me

Back to the ginger gene... I've been teased by many for providing Izzy with her strawerryblonde hair... we do have a lot of it in the family. however, was standing out side this morning with Dh and the sun was shining on his 2 day old stubble. I've never seen so much red in his beard, it was rife with red!! not just the side burns ( the usual answer) but ever hair that wasnt grey light brown, was bright corse ginger! ha ha its his ginge gene after all !!

PCF: We've been thinking about getting a sand/water pit for izzy. She loves grabbing the gravel and tipping into her little house ( you post shapes into usually). We've got alot of cats and foxes around here, do you know if you can get them with proper lids on or a cover of some sort?

Rat: Good for you, it is not easy to cope with someone with depression, and its not easily understood. Its a horrible illness. Really horrible, debilitating, upsetting and so variable. I always know when DH has stopped taking his anti d's, always. He thinks he's feeling better and coping better so he stops taking them. ( er, doh, of course, the tablets actually help with that) He then gets bad again so takes them again. Frustrating. He hates taking any tablets anyway, and feels ashamed when he has to tell his company what he's taking. they get spot checks for illegal and banned substances as he works on rail. If they check him and he's not informed them he can be disciplined. So I understand a tiny bit! I think knowing and really feeling you are loved is a hugely important factor in it, and helps so much. If you do want to talk about it, you know where I am.

E&H: is it half term soon??? A small person here would like to pull someone else's hair play with another small person soon!!

I need to watch this terrible program i've got hooked on... I'm too ashamed to say what it is... it involved models can you guess what it is, and is anyone else watching it too??? Roll on Fab TV Wednesday!!

SmoothandWilkie · 20/05/2008 07:06

and the winner goes to Susie for her most interesting feedback on my razor!! Yes, the gel is in a block around the head so you just dunk it is the bath water then use it - I didn't get ONE nick - and I did my underarms and ladygarden. No ingrowing hairs for me!!

Seriously though, if you want a £1 off coupon just email me at lambertfamily at live dot co dot uk

Gonna submit report tonight so any more comments welcome!

Susie - I always do the same as your DH, think I am feeling great, stop the ADs and drop back down again. ALthough the GP wants me to just use the ADS for the last two weeks of my monthly cycle so we'll see!

EAH - thanks for the space stuff. Gonna have a better look tonight

Well - must go, having a shopping day with my sister at the Trafford Centre - CHILD FREE!

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 20/05/2008 08:00

@ your child-free day Wilkie. Although I had one last Tuesday, it was just a bit crap...

I used h's razor as well - it's one of those ones with an electric clipper on the end, v useful for trimming the old ladygarden! Not sure what I'll do if he takes it with him though!!

vinorouge · 20/05/2008 08:29

Wilkie - I'll have a coupon too please if you still have some. Been a gilette razor girl for the last few years but a change might be good.

DH -I got the toddler bed from mothercare for Ellen cos I went to ikea and wasn't sure I liked it, plus when I got it I had a discount voucher for Mcare so it was only slightly more to get it from there than argos. It's lovely and E settled in a treat. I got some cot bed sheets cos thought I would get plenty of use out of them with E and the next one. She stopped using a sleeping bag a while ago so just goes to sleep in her pjs with no quilt/blanket and I cover her up when she is asleep. She's started using a small square cushion as a pillow, I wouldn;t have bothered getting one but her cushion and quilt/thick sheet were made for her by my mum so its a cute little set.I'll post a pic!

PCF: Thanks for linking that for me. Brilliant. Think its a nice job for DH at the weekend.

Wilkie: I meant to type lower legs, not lover legs... Does this mean i'm not the winner anymore?? I'll email you later when small annoying key pressing person is asleep. Also, i'm pretty strict at taking my AD's. Can't bare the thought of ever feeling as low as I did back then. They take a good few weeks to work each time you stop and start, I'd hate to feel shit for that long again....

UD: I was bought a proper electric strimmer for mine. I could not be trusted with a razor anywhere near! It is the best thing. So quick, safe and leaves things neat and tidy You can choose the grade setting too! only about £20 I think from boots worth every penny. the link is for an updated model than mine.

Lizz: I've just have my thyroid function tested. Will get result next week. My mum and sister both developed hypothyroidism after having children, so it's possible as i've still got those symptoms I started to have 2 months ago now, of extreme tiredness, v dry skin ( my mums presenting sign btw) weight gain, inability to loose weight... the list goes on! part of me hopes it is, as its so treatable. of course, I don't want it for other reasons too. SO hard to loose weight with it. Fingers crossed hey?

Afteroon all,

Just popping in to take a look and see how everyone is doing - hope you are OK ratty.

The bikini shaper thingie looks great far safer than razor might get mine into some sort of order .

I would like to announce that......

no not pregnant but to me as good a news as it comes I have a home help lady!!!!!!! I vowed I would never need any help as have OCD kind of behaviour when it comes to cleaning (pulls eandh to bosom) but came home and the place is shinning - she even polished the cat bowls. I realise I will now get totally flamed and understandably so but cannot manage working full time and being domestic goddess as well.

I second the hypothyroidism always worth checking. Wilks i have been referred to a headache clinic (my boss runs it)so will let you know the outcome although most medications fo prevention of migraine are not allowed in pregnancy .

Right off to look at other shiney things...

loosh

2Happy · 20/05/2008 14:01

hahahahaha - because of the ad, Ir ead that sentence as "she even polished the cat"

(well it amused me )

Just popping back to ask if any of you watch Dexter?

Its just finished on ITV....

Please someone say they do.

Please I need a fellow Dexter addict.

I've been watching series 2 downloaded off the WWW and I am honestly obsessed.
