Now paint your face blue, and stick your tongue out at the world - end especially the half-wit-mid-life-crisis-lacking-common-sense-PMT-suffering-eejits we otherwise call men.

eandh, ratbunny, susie, UD - this one's for you

Ahem, er, UD - you don't really enjoy ironing do you? I can imagine you using this as an excuse not to do any!

What is you DH doing at the BB house? (name dropper!)

Hi Wilki - glad you are moved. What is it like so far? Hope its a billion times better than the last place, good luck with your unpacking.

i really hate it when strikethroughs don't work properly you twat

Lizzz - from Wiki: "Iron, particularly Cold iron, was employed as a protective substance or charm against faeries. In Celtic Folklore, Fae are culturally held to hold an aversion to iron or even be harmed by the touch of iron." Here

I have been feeling very sorry for myself this morning - was feeling very nauseous and tired. Took Z out for lunch at his favourite cafe in town and he ate a massive plate of scrambled eggs and crumpets and a huge bowl of chocolate ice cream! He did the owner a drawing with the medium of wax crayons and smeary scrambled egg. He was thrilled! Just trying to get him to have a nap now so I can sleep too - housework be damned!

Dh has just MSN'd me to say he has to go to the Big Brother house today so he's going to be late.....

Wilkie - hope you're all settled in now. Say hi to Vino for us!

UD - what happens in the "cold iron test" i've not heard of that one before.

EAH - I have an appointment to see the Dr again on Monday to report back on how the gaviscon (that I haven't even got yet as I don't believe it is the cause) is working. DP has REALLY bad asthma, as does one of his brothers, and my sister had childhood asthma. I will make them test him for it properly. Dr was more concerned with his weight than anything else. IMO he is totally normal. He is about 1.5 stone, and fits into most of his clothes fine for his age. He is eating well etc. I am not sure she knows what she is talking about....

pmsl UD!!!

Lizz - thats exactly what the asthma nurse said (the 2yr old bit) but with family history (I have asthma, dh sister and neice and nephew) plus my Nan etc its likely she has it, Ellie has never wheezed so missedher, strange that the only bits of ezcema they have are in the exact same place, size etc and flare up at the same time!!

Lizzz - we've been wondering for a while whether Z is in fact a changeling, when he seemed to talk to us at 5 months We've yet to test him with cold iron - perhaps we fear the results?!

Lizzzombie · 02/07/2008 10:15

eah - that is very interesting. 2 doctors have now told me that they cant diagnose asthma before 2 years old. And my Mum is an asthma nurse and she recommends ventolin if wheezy before 2 years in case it is asthma. I just don't understand why the Dr decided it was acid reflux when he is obviously chesty.

UD - Maybe its not just a phase, maybe you do really produce goblin children?!

Lizz- TBH the drive is not what is worrying me, it is the fact we will be far away ffrom home and our hospital. As I am having cs just worrie dthat if I do go into labour early, it will be an issue if we are at another hospital. I know I should not go but I want to!

Oh and I am off to the beach too today, bit colder than where you are as going to Inverness to see my dad. Might see some dolphins though!

Dreading the long journey but will be nice to have a bit of a holiday.

EAH- Ment to say sounds great with H potty training.

Rgee- My two love sprouts! The otherday I tried making Nigella's quick mac cheese and gave them sprouts with it. They both refused to eat the mac cheese and gobbled up the sprouts!

Right, off now to pack so will speak next week when we get back. Have a good weekend everyone! xxx

Not sure UD but H has been screaming all morning, Ellie walked past her and she didnt touch her and she went screaming after her hands flapping etc

Lizz - H has asthma, we have a spacer and blue inhaler for when she gets a cough/cold as she gets very wheezy. I saw 2 Dr's who said her chest was clear and then happen to see the nurse about something else but she is the asthma nurse and said she did have it. We used to have brown inhaler for daily use but as she only seems affected if the weather is damp or 'close' or is she has a cold etc then we have stopped using brown inhaler and just have blue one. I have a spare spacer and inhaler in the car as she did get very wheezy at the farm so looks like some animal/fur may trigger it as well

Cant remember who asked what we're going to see at the cinema but we've not decided between Hancock (dh choice), mamma mia (my choice) or Wanted (in the middle we both wouldnt mind seeing that)

morning everyone!
Can't believe you were eating sprouts in July Rgee!?!?

eah - well done H on the potty. Am not even thinking about that yet!

Quick question for those of you with LO's with asthma... DJ has a nasty cough at the moment. Has had it for a while and its not wheezy all the time, only a little bit. The Dr reckons it could be acid reflux and perscribed him infant gaviscon. Which I totally don't think it is as this morning he's really chesty and hasn't had any breakfast yet (even though we've been up since 5.15am!!!) I'm sure the Dr is wrong, but she listend to his chest etc and said its totally clear. I don't know wether to go back and ask her again.

DH - I'd not bother with a wedding which is that far away in your position. If it was local then it would be not so much of an issue, but the drive alone would be enough to put me off!

Its low tide all this week here at the moment, and I took DJ down to the beach yesterday afternoon, even though it was 5pm it was mega hot still, and he went ballistic on me, really did not want to paddle at all. Just sit on the pebbles and scream, and throw pebbles at his bucket. My mates little girl who is nearly 3 had a great time in the waves though. I love living by the seaside!!!

And you wonder what is going on in P's head Reggie ?

I think it must be hereditary

DH. I think I would go. BUT be prepared for all eventualities . You could leave early evening as you said.. and well done to your DH for staying off the drink. Check out where all the local hospitals are too

At 38 weeks with my number 3, I had a 2 week old baby

DH - i went into labour at 38 weeks, but Z was back to back so by that time had crippling back pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. I was soooooo fed up by that point - i don't think I'd have wanted to go to a wedding tbh. BUT i also think that my dates for Z were messed up, and that I was 40+ weeks when they thought i was 38 IYGWIM. At "their" 36 weeks (my 38 ish weeks) i felt fine, albeit as big as a house (think it was around Xmas if i remember) and had bad heartburn. I'd still want to go to a nice wedding though - and even though it's August it's usually nice and cool in a church, isn't it?

EAH- DH would not be drinking either. No way I would end up in labour miles away from home and have him wasted! Also he offered so didnt have to nag!

Glad you are feeling better MOM

DH- hmmm a tough one I felt crap at 38 weeks (had h at 38+3) but if I could have had a child free day that invovled free food then I'd have been tempted, think rgee suggestion good but assuming dh would want a drink and would you want to drive home?

Rgee - pah to that old wives tale I had 1 morning of feeling sick with e and about 2 mornings with h (although am sure that was food related)

Lovely afternoon but baking the temp gauge in my lounge said 29degrees and thats teh coolest room in the house. Ellie and eddas dd emptied every toy they could find (humprh after my massive toy cull/tidy this morning)

Both girls were conked out by 6.30 think it was the heat, have put fans in both of their rooms. DH popping out tonight so just me and mn

ooo almost forgot hattie has decided if we are indoors she hates nappies and takes them off but she seems to have grasped the idea of going on the potty for a wee (about 60% success rate) shame she hasnt worked out the poo business, we're not pushing it and just letting her do it if she wants and then if she has a few accidnets we out a nappy back on but she was very chuffed with her in the night garden knickers my Mum got her they are size 18-24months but so baggy on her!!

DH I'd be tempted to go. Could you leave slightly earlier and drive home at say 9/10pm rather than when everyone is rolling drunk on the floor and dancing to Come on Eileen? It would be nice to spend time with your dh child free - I guess it will be the last time for a few months. Just take eveything slowly. If you've lots of friends going too, they'll really spoil you.

Sickness eh UD? must be a girl then

Dragon can't believe you only have 7ish weeks to go!

How was this afternoon Eah? Hot here today - presume even hotter daaaaawn saaaaaath.
Do you get anniversary presents for each other btw? It's our 5th shortly after yours.

2h does the insomnia make you feel really tired, or are you one of these people who can function on 5 hours sleep a night? I think if I were an insomniac, I'd spend even more time on MN too. Every cloud and all that .
Stayed approx 5 mins drive up the big hill from Eureka on outskirts of the 'fax. Great views from there over the valley and all of the town. Wondered if I could spot Wilkie moving in to her new gaff...

Shimmer have you got a ring yet?

Had to laugh at the comment on lo's 'report' from nursery. It said "P has spent all day pointing at the floor and saying spider". WTF? So, she likes a bit of incy wincy spider but what is going on in her head? Pmsl.
