March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

OP posts:

Rosylily · 02/05/2008 07:53

Thankyou MrLsg, I for one don't mind a dad being on the thread Your kitchen looks and sounds really lovely. Looking forward to seeing it when it's finished.

Sponge I hope your dh and you make friends again soon. I'm full of good intentions about my attitude to dh but I am not consistantly positive! I'm constantly in turmoil. There is no escape either. The conflict I am in is extremely draining.

I feel a big massive failure at the moment. Maybe I need to read some uplifting books.I definately need some art therapy.

Piffle and kitty, your boys definately sound more active than average. My sisters two boys are like that. Full of beans!
I seem to produce very laidback boys. Ds1's teacher says he is the most laidback guy she ever met. I hope he isn't too laidback to pass his gcse's now! He has an irish oral today. (Hoping he does well)

Sazzy brilliant that you have loads of time off..how blissfull, hope you have fun, fun, fun!

Kiwi that mass feed in sounds a hoot. I love the 'bring a baby and a brolly' bit. If I was over there I would have had to go to that I think!

Rosylily · 02/05/2008 07:55

Piffle, your kitchen situation sound very stressfull! I hope it all gets sorted soon (and that you get a beautifull new kitchen in the end!)

Divastrop · 02/05/2008 11:44

good thread title MRLSG

i am in denial about the whole toddler thing..i want Elsie to stay a baby.my next door neighbour is going in to be induced next week(i think she is due on may 19th but has had some problems),and a friend i see in the school playground is in hospital atm and may be induced very soon(she is due may 16th!)so there are going to be some tiny new babies around soon reminding me that crawling, cruising and climbibg little girl is growing up fast

and my other baby girl is turning into a gobshite like her sister.she was banging her cup on the highchair and dh said 'shut up(not in a nasty way)' and dd2 said 'no,you shut up!'.

rosy-i can understand what you mean about turmoil.i seem to go through phases of being fine and content with dh,and then being fed up and annoyed with him.i think it may be related to his guild membership on WoW.i thought it was hormonal but there doesnt seem to be a pattern anymore.

kitty/foxy-how are things o the relationship front now?

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 17:51

Please can I join in?

DS was born on the 20th March 2007. He has just walked(toddled) for the first time this afternoon. I am so excited for him.

kittywise · 02/05/2008 21:04

hellokayzisexpecting, do join us!!

Diva, I know what you mean about loosing the baby and going a toddler. I can't believe how quickly the year has gone.
Dd3 is also hurling abuse at anyone who gets in her way.

(d)p and I are muddling along as best we can. We are stuck here until we can sell and I don't think that' going to be for a while due to the housing market and special circumstances in our area.

I am in a bit of a trough atm, a year's worth of screaming baby and them a month of sick kids has caught up with me and I am shattered and worn out so dp has actually been very supportive, doing all the school runs and after school pick ups etc.

Rosy, why do you feel a failure ?
You know that you're wonderful don't you?

MrLSG, of course dads are allowed!!

Ronnie STILL has no teeth but nevertheless has taken to 'biting' me when he has finished a boob

Sponge hope things get better for you.

Sorry if i have missed anyone!

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 21:08

I know about the toddlerdom! Now he is walking he is a proper toddler.

spongecake · 02/05/2008 21:16

me and dh are ok, just leftover temper from me a being on hols at his parents

mrlsg, thanks for the new thread and sure dads are welcome!
hi kaz, have you just found mn?
am watching supernanny, find it addictive.
diva, my ds is everywhere and getting more independent everyday. my baby.......... yup am vvvv broody. so will be making it up with dh

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 21:20

No I have been on MN since I found out I was expecting DS but didn't really use it much until just before this xmas just gone. But now I am addicted.

I just thought today I'd come and find the March 07 post-natal club.

Divastrop · 02/05/2008 21:21

hello and welcome kayz

kitty-at least dp has been supportive.i think we just go on auto pilot while the dc are ill then when we finally get to sit down it all hits us.
dd2 is getting more and more vocal, she told me off for brushing her hair before 'dont want you do it more you hurting me!'then she took the brush off me and dropped it and said 'oh crap'

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 21:24

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I'm also watching Supernanny. I really enjoy it.

Divastrop · 02/05/2008 21:24

just had a nosey at your profile, kayz, you joined MN a month before me,but i got addicted to it straight away.i did manage to quit for a few weeks...

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 21:30

I didnt really use it until I was about 2 weeks off my due date and my MW broke her ankle and I was in a panic. Then I didn't really use it again until I was sorting out my favourites one day. I can't leave the place now. Especially as I am expecting DC2.

Rosylily · 03/05/2008 07:41

welcome Kayz! Your ds looks really cute on your profile piccy. Congratulations on your pregnancy. MN is definately fantastic for jollying you along in pregnancy and after. I too am hooked

Though unlike most of you lot I am not feeling broody. Well maybe a tiny bit but I think I'm done now.
Sponge I hope you will soon be feeling sick and getting fat

Kitty thanks I know in theory that I'm wonderfull but my self confidence is very low and I'm just feeling a bit defeated by life at the moment. I'm lacking stamina! I know I'll just have to slowly build myself up somehow.
I'm glad you are muddling along okay and managing to cope with your stress!

I had a horrendous nights sleep from hell! I was just up constantly all night with all the children. I know it's good to get chicken pox over with and boy I'll be glad to get this overwith.
Hasan was tortured last night by his spots. They are itching him everywhere. He won't take medicine, I've been forcing piriton down his throat, poor wee guy.
Dd has less so far but was drenched with sweat in the night and has them inside her mouth and doesn't want to eat much.

So anyway I look like a haggard old 100 year old bag at this stage! It's just not a good look....moan moan moan moan.....

Rosylily · 03/05/2008 07:49

oh Kayz on further nosying at your profile you look gorgeous,(not horrible at all as you seem to think!) Your wedding picture is lovely. Nice dress!

kayzisexpecting · 03/05/2008 07:52

Thanks Rosy.

I only wish I was still that thin. I didn't lose the weight after having DS. So I think might be moving into the gym after having this one. I have promised myself I'll be able to wear my wedding dress again.

fitfox · 03/05/2008 12:24

Hi There Kaz and welcome

Congraulations on your 2nd pregnancy. Your DS is lovely too!! What is he up to now - mine wasborn on 6 March and is full of the devilment! I saw your profile. I lovewalking too and try to wak everywhere when possible, muh to the annoyance of my DCs who like the comfort of sitting on their wee butts in the car

MrL - the new Ikea kitchen looks luvverly

Rosy do you feel a bit flat after your travels? I wish you lived nearer so I could come and annoy you

My relationship with DH is quite fragile I feel. Not sure what to think really....

Well I woke up this morning to fnd that I now live in Boris Land !

Jaysfinished · 03/05/2008 14:28

hi ladies hows things? Seems like most of you are alive and kicking and thriving on our toddlers mischievousness!
Jensen is into everything, he copies his big sis no end and the other day i went in to dining room to find that they had both climbed in the table, pulled out chairs and everything... he loves climbing and does it at every opportunity! the only thing is , he just WONT come down the stairs on his tummy and screams when i try and teach him how to do it. He just wants to either walk down, whihc he cant do, or go down head first..! hes a bugger!
Still wakes most nights two of three times, screaming....sometimes i go into him - which STILL makes it worse, and sometimes i leave him, which means 20 mins of crying well i guess one day he will sleep through!
Baby Cooper is doing well, hes almost 15 lbs and is only 7 weeks old....hes so long i cant believe it, even some of the 3-6 mth clothes are to short! I think i am going ot have big boys to look after me when i get older

I am itching to do something now, i wont be going back to work and have thought about opening a soft play centre please can you "take a look here" and give me some thoughts...dont want to hijack this nice peacful thread!

Rosylily · 03/05/2008 16:04

Now you see Jay you do not have any stamina problems! I am in total awe!

Foxy if you lived closer and came to annoy me you would find me in my jammies which are covered in calamine cream.

I've noticed that whenever dh is around everything seems normal but I feel like superman feels when anyone comes near with kryptonite. Then once he leaves I immediately feel lighter, more energetic and more able
He is draining my spirit!! Anyone know any protective spells?

Look sleep deprivation has sent me loopy....

kayzisexpecting · 03/05/2008 17:51

Jay, I think DS is the same. He is a very cheeky little boy. His favourite thing at the minute is dropping things on the floor and saying "Oh No" Its so cute.

Jaysfinished · 03/05/2008 19:52

hi and welcome Kay, i agree with the dropping htings on the floor, when i go in to him in the morning, EVERYTHING has been thrown out of the cot, including bedding....and then he points and makes grunting noises then laughs!!

Piffle · 03/05/2008 20:00

Finn gets up and talks non stop. Hits the ground running and stops about 6pm.
amazing me with his fortitude atm.
welcome kay!
jay pmsl your namechange!

kayzisexpecting · 03/05/2008 20:09

Just got home from my mum's. DS has been showing off his walking all day. He keeps trying to run already.

He has got a playpen we put him in for when we need to do something and he sometimes throws all of his toys. Then he gets a bit annoyed as he has nothing to do.

fitfox · 03/05/2008 20:15

Yes, farty pants likes throwing things on the floo too. His favourite occupation is emptying things

Oooh must go, DH is cooking chips!!

Divastrop · 03/05/2008 20:42

rosy-sorkycake from the larger families threads has 'wicca' as her religious views on FB,maybe she could help you out with a few spells

i never gave mine piriton when they had CP as i'm allergic to it(yeah, daft i know)and i didnt want to chance it,so it was calomine lotion 4X a day and plenty of calpol.

i have been out all day.it was nice out and we went to town, then the spring fair at the church, then the park, then we decided to get the bus to the beach, then we went to mcdonalds for tea.(ive just realised the dc had greggs sausage rolls for lunch and mcd's for tea-how many MN crimes in one day?)when i say 'we',i mean the dc and i.

i am fed up with being fat.i am excersising loads more than i was this time last year, and up untill my mothers visit last week i was being very good food-wise(have fallen off the wagon this week though),but im still the same bloody weight

as my pregnancy weight fell off when i was single,i can only conclude that being in a relationship makes you fat

evenhope · 03/05/2008 23:09

An apt thread title. We went to Down House today and DD decided to start walking (at last!) when we got there

Rosy sorry to hear Hasan's spots are bothering him. DD scratched the spots on her head but was fine otherwise.

I was woken up at 4am today by the cat that DH and the DSs hadn't put out, then again by the Hound of the Baskerville's 2 doors down at 5.15 am
