March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

Lunar, you thinking of #3?

mygreatauntgriselda · 08/11/2008 18:37

That's classic

spongecake · 08/11/2008 20:32

yeah i know, most people think its weird to like paperwork no i don't have d &v , just extreme nausea and i really hope i don;t get it. ds spent the afternoon on my knee feeling sorry for himself, and is beginning an upset tummy. he insisted on going upstairs for a shower -refuses to bath- an hour early, cried to get his ph's on. he did cheer up for strictly though. only austin got a bravo clap clap

kittywise · 08/11/2008 22:04

Aye lunar, I'd love, love, love no.7, silly me.

Sponge hope you and ds feel better soon.

greataunt, that's so funny about your BF, in your dreams eh? Who would it be then?
My BF's would be ooh rufus Sewell, Alan Rickman and many others but I can't remember as I'm pooped! So may to choose from, so little time!

kittywise · 08/11/2008 22:05

We need a new thread soon too

SuperSillyus · 09/11/2008 22:27

Oh yeah It'll take us ooh about a couple of days months to fill this one up

Last night I dreamt I was pregnant and quite happy about it. But in reality I'm not broody now except when I'm ovulating... mother nature is a clever trickster!

Kitty it would be exciting if you had another, would you film the labour again???

Lol at Lunar and Mrlsg

Sponge hope you are all better soon. Very cute to hear your ds enjoys strictly (aw)

Catweazle I hope they get to the bottom of the hearing soon.

Hasan doesn't say loads... though he is starting to say more now and he has learnt to open the front door and he likes taking clothes off and putting on clothes he finds around the place...very comical.

mygreatauntgriselda · 10/11/2008 21:23

Super does he climb on something and reach the catch?

The Fat Toddler here climbs onto the kitchen worktop and tries to turn the gas rings on I have to watch him like a hawk

He doesn't say much either (apart from Mum, Bum Bum, poo poo (accompanied by a pat of his own behind), (ba)'Nana). But he understands EVERYTHING

mygreatauntgriselda · 11/11/2008 17:40

I could fart on this thread and no one would hear me!

catweazle · 11/11/2008 21:03

oo heard that! Was that you sausage?!

Can anyone help with my sleeping problems? I take DD up to bed with me between 10-11pm. Up to a week or so ago she was snuggling in, having a BF and going off to sleep, waking between 5-6am to feed again then going back to sleep.

Just lately she is back to the mucking about she used to do. We get rolling, pinching, biting, slapping. She feeds then starts again. She was awake on and off all night on Sunday night, so last night I went to bed at 9.30pm. Cue slapping, rolling etc. She finally went to sleep at 11.45 and I am absolutely shattered.

I'm waking her at 8am and she arrives at nursery half asleep. They try to put her down at 1pm but she rarely goes off until after 3pm and is often still asleep when I go to pick her up at 4.30pm.

DH says it's my fault for not putting her to bed like we did with the others. As he isn't here for 4 nights and is asleep all evening for the other 3 that would mean my wasting even more time sitting upstairs with her. I've told him he's quite welcome to spend his next 3 nights off sitting upstairs with her trying to get her to sleep

Doesn't help that in the morning she's snuggly and cuddly and quiet but in the evening she's a climbing demon

SuperSillyus · 12/11/2008 07:10

auntgriselda he can reach the front door handle but he does climb up on chairs, tables etc and takes one or two bites out of all the fruit in the fruit bowl, wanders off with everyones toothbrushes etc
He says 'juice' alot. (he likes fruit juice) 'ball' (he likes balls) and he sqwawks and points alot and the other kids work out what he wants! Lazy so and so doesn't need to talk. He has names for everyone of a sort. (he likes to call for his slaves )

He doesn't seem to have a word for breast milk but if he's whinging and trying to pull my top up ds2 shouts 'Mummy give him your boob! Give him your boob!'

Catweazle it's funny that you had a bad night on sunday night, I had an an atrocious night then too. Hasan woke as I was going to bed, faffed around for ages, woke up fully and started playing, dd woke up too and those two played and I just gave up and went on the computer at 1.30am, finally settled them at 2.30ish.

I don't know what was going on! I had 3 hours sleep and had to get through monday like that, then monday night Hasan fell asleep at 6pm then woke at 7pm wide awake, couldn't be settled and ran around until about 11 by which time I was a total wreck!

I blame the moon! and as you can tell I have no ideas about the sleep problem!

SuperSillyus · 12/11/2008 07:27

oh and yesterday when I went into the kitchen to make the dinner, he was sitting at the table eating the butter with a spoon! (yum yum)

kiwibella · 12/11/2008 12:53

welcome to my world CW!!!

That's our evenings at the moment... up to two hours of consistently picking up, putting down, saying lie down, back rubbing..... it is so draining (and I guiltily admit that I feel very stressed by the complete waste of time!!).

I have had Kate playing with the buttons on the stove top too... she pushed her little dolls high-chair up to it. Luckily, I didn't realise until I turned it on... it's one of those things that I am phobic about so I always turn the oven off at the wall.

The joys

I logged in today expecting to find a stream of convo . I miss knowing what all the babies are up to. I have been distracted making MissE a costume for her Christmas Concert... making the most of every Kate-less moment sewing.

mygreatauntgriselda · 12/11/2008 19:40

Kiwi the Fat Toddler does that too with the coer buttons

Super - he also likes butter, like Hasan - and sudacream

Piffle · 12/11/2008 21:57

oh golly I have been so bad at being here...
What news
I'm better
Kitchen being refitted this week (cue nightmare of drilling and non sleeping Finn in the daytime) but nights are bliss as he goes to bed himself he is so bushed, he is like Ronnie is it? Who goes and lies on his sleeping bag - yes pooped out.
Lovely now too he wakes in the morning not immediately needing milk or food, so he is just all snuggly and happy = BLISS
also temper tantrums have gone!!!!!!!!! As his speech is so good he can communciate everything so well, far mroe patient and calm
HOORAY
As for speech, well he just copies everything
mostly today it was
oh no drilling
loud mummy
chocolate pudding
not banana strawberries
ambulance
aeroplane
tractor
train he has vehicular obsession

And DP is away in India this week as I am left alone with 3 kids, no washing machine, dishwasher, sink or cooker... ho hum
Still I have wine

How is everyone
How are the marriages, new babies, house moves, jobs?

Spill and I promise to visit DAILY

SuperSillyus · 13/11/2008 07:14

Piffle looks like while dh is away you won't be able to cook, do dishes etc and will just have to eat out at nice little cafe's everyday
It will be lovely to have your new kichen done. Hope it's not to disruptive and that the fitters are sexy pleasant.

Sounds like Finn is a little star. I love this age. I always find the new words everyday stage so lovely.

My marriage is still limping along. I'm really hoping dh might move up in the not too distant future...fingers crossed.

auntgriselda lol at the sudocream

kiwibella · 13/11/2008 19:03

yup... another butter fan here too! It's one spread for the toast, one for the mouth .

Piffle... I'm pleased that your kitchen drama will soon be over and you will have a complete kitchen to work in. It must be a nightmare with noise, dust, yadda yadda.

Silly... it's good to hear that your dh might be making plans to join his family full-time. It would be helpful to have his support.

We are having crisis over porn. Actually, I'm furious after finding it (left on the computer screen). Hubs doesn't care. I'm not such a prude that I care about the porn... my concern is what is a wife for????????????????

Kate is lovely today. Hubs is out so hoping that she will go down easily and give me a peaceful evening .

mygreatauntgriselda · 13/11/2008 20:07

Kiwi I wish my DH was interested in sex!!!

Piffle thanks for the update - its great to hear from you

Finn is fabulous isn't he? How is his sleeping

divastrop · 13/11/2008 21:27

hi!

SuperSillyus · 13/11/2008 22:10

Hurray!

SuperSillyus · 13/11/2008 22:12

(It's lovely to see your little name on here again.)

Piffle · 13/11/2008 22:18

ah Finn sleeps very well nowadays
2.5 hrs in the day( takes himself after lunch)
And takes himself upstairs at c beebies bedtime song after night garden. He takes a blanket, 2 snuggle bears and one rattle rabbit. He then shouts... Wet wipe nappy mummy now... Please
Very cute and shocking as other 2 were not great sleepers until 3rd year!
Finn is fab and going through a totally edible phase! Except tonight when he vommed over everything in bed [ugh]
Esp lovely considering my lack of washing machine atm...

Is no one coming to mn Xmas party?
I am!

Right got to go... Knackered.
Forgot dinner with Finn being sick and then plastering kitchen...

kiwibella · 14/11/2008 15:42

greataunt... you just never know, maybe he is????

It annoys me soooo much... I must be so much hard work to take the easy option.

Diva... you sneaky thing! Your dh must be occupied with other things. Come back, come back .

Piffle... glad that Finn is settling down. I have a little girl who tells me that she wants to go to bed... but, does she heck. I think that she has confused the meanings of bed and jungle-gym.

It's great that you are coming down to London for the Christmas party . Are you staying overnight?

mygreatauntgriselda · 14/11/2008 17:48

Kiwi yes you are right - but just not interested in doing it with me eh?

Hmmmpph!! - men are so crap sometimes aren't they.? How did you find out about your DPs viewing? What did he say?

Diva that is sooo spooky - I was thinking about you yesterday!! [spooky emoticon] - wondering where you had got to. How are you ?

Piffle - I just don't have the energy to go out atm

Hi Super (waves)

kiwibella · 15/11/2008 00:34

men can be so thoughtless!! The internet page that dh had been looking had only been minimised when I went to use it. My guess is that he was interupted... probably by Kate and I coming in from her playgroup!! Aaargh... so seedy. Really, aunt, he doesn't care... he only cares that he upset me. That probably sounds more callous than hubs is. He's a very gentle bloke and he doesn't let much bother him.

It's late but I'm still hyped up... MissE and I went to Avenue Q with some friends tonight. It was such bad taste yet so hilarious... and it was cute to see her giggling with her little friend at some of the sex-jokes.

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/11/2008 15:27

Hi Kiwi - yes men are thoughtless. When they get caught out at something, they are usually sorry for being caught, rather than sorry for the actual act IYKWIM

what is Avenue Q?
