March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/11/2008 21:12

Piffle - what is Avenue Q????

Callieco · 15/11/2008 22:35

Hello people. I am keeping an eye on you all but just don't have the time/energy to post normally. Just wanted to say hello though before I fall into bed.

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/11/2008 14:16

Halloooo Callie

kiwibella · 16/11/2008 16:25

Piffle!!! I don't want to think about our children together cos it just brings back the puppet-sex scene!!!

Avenue Q is a theatre show on the west end... but it's puppets. If you need a belly-laugh Aunt... head there.

Hi Callie... how is Jordi getting on?

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/11/2008 21:59
Shock
TheBlonde · 17/11/2008 22:01

Kiwi - Thanks for the wellies, they are lovely

Diva - are you back? I saw this and thought of your OH...
Boy collapses after playing World of Warcraft for 24 hours straight

Piffle - I hope we get a full report from the Xmas party, I am far to scared to attend!!

I am confused by the namechanges and have no idea who anyone is anymore

SuperSillyus · 18/11/2008 11:11

The blonde -scarey reading! Ds1 was playing it all night friday night.

Hasan isn't well today. snotty nose and high temperature. I've dosed him up. He puked on me at 4am. I'm not well either which is a right pain. I want to cuddle up in bed but I have to look after sick children. [self pity emoticon]

Dh should be here tonight for a day or two so hopefully he'll help me a bit. Though when he is around I want to catch up with friends -not waste my tiny chance of a break by being ill (fume)

Am grumpy cow aren't I. I'm premenstrual as well as flued up and tired, not a happy combination!

kiwibella · 18/11/2008 16:06

hi silly... sorry that you are feeling so poorly. You and Hasan sound just like Kate and I... she won't leave my side and is permanently attached to my boob. Hubs came back over your way for the Munster game tonight . I thought he was being genuine last night when he suggested staying behind and selling his ticket! I have absolutely no energy... and have my AF - a week early .

Blonde... glad the boots arrived. Hope your lo gets some wear out of them.

Oops... Kate has just peed on the carpet after telling me "bum-bum' several times.

TheBlonde · 18/11/2008 19:02

Anyone care to add advice on my potty training threads pretty please?

how do I tackle the night?

airplane - pants or pullups?

LunarSea · 19/11/2008 18:14

I thought for a minute there you were talking about potty training for our March 07 lot - and was about to say it was way too early! I've got no intention of trying it for about a year yet, having witnessed a friend saying her ds was potty trained at 2 - but she always had to take about 6 sets of spare clothes out with her. In contrast ds1 at 2.9 only took a few days to get it.

TheBlonde · 19/11/2008 21:20

LunarSea - my mom is already asking me about training DD (Mar07)
DD does indicate when she wants to be changed and when she's weeing so hopefully she will be easier and earlier than her brother!

SuperSillyus · 20/11/2008 10:51

In Pakistan they don't use nappies and the babies do get the hang of it much quicker but they are running around sunny courtyards with lots of extended family around to clean them up etc.
In our society we train the babies to go in a nappy and then have to untrain them. I'm sure there is a better way but I tried to potty train dd early like her Pakistani cousins but it didn't work at all!

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/11/2008 20:09

The Fat Toddler won't be trained until he is 3 [lazy emoticon]

catweazle · 21/11/2008 19:48

ditto

Anyone else in the throes of Mine! and NO! ? It is so wearing.

Especially when combined with the climbing. Somebody decided it would be a good idea to climb up the bookcase, and it fell off the wall on top of her Cue bleeding nose and much screaming, followed by marks on nose and cheeks. Couple of weeks ago she had a bruise on her cheek from the bedside table (the only sharp surface in the bedroom). Today she has apparently "run into" something wooden at nursery and has another bump and bruise on the side of her face. I'm going to be accused of beating her soon

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/11/2008 20:56

Cat - The Fat Toddler climbs up everything too - his is DRIVEN to scale every possible surface - especially if he knows there might be food up there!

SuperSillyus · 22/11/2008 10:13

Hasan is very grumpy at the moment. He throws things in temper and has been crying alot. I think he is maybe teething because he started chewing on the medicine syringe thing.
I am so sick of breast feeding which seems constant and another thing that makes him very cross if he can't get at his supply....I don't know how I'm going to get him off it....sigh.

mygreatauntgriselda · 22/11/2008 15:47

Super - he sounds a bit poorly doesn't he?

IKWYM about the feeding though!!

kiwibella · 26/11/2008 23:34

mygreatauntgriselda... what was that lovely shop called that you got your birthday present from??

mygreatauntgriselda · 27/11/2008 19:35

Kiwi - which birthday present?

Have got tooth abscess and have seriously lost the plot so you'll have to remind me!!

SuperSillyus · 28/11/2008 07:55

Oh no Auntgriselda, hope the tooth's sorted soon! Sounds painfull.

My mother keeps saying it's time Hasan was weaned and if anything makes me want to continue breastfeeding it's that!

I am dreading weaning him, putting it off as long as possible and still hoping he'll start to lose interest himself

This thread is so slow and quiet limping along we are nearly at 1000 but there's no point starting a new thread, this one won't be full for another month

Anyone in touch with Kitty? No word for a while. Hope all's well with you Kitty.

catweazle · 28/11/2008 18:45

It is slow isn't it? When you look at some of the mid-pregnancy antenatal threads- where did they all go?

Took DD to the hairdressers tonight for the first time. She had the merest fraction of an inch off all over but her hair is so wispy and still grows in 2 distinct layers with nothing in between . The others all had proper hair by this age.

spongecake · 28/11/2008 20:34

hi everyone (all 5 of you!) i have another lo due june 2009!

mygreatauntgriselda · 28/11/2008 21:52

Sponge - congratulation - how lovely!!!

Cat - LOL at your description of your DD's two distinct layers of hair with nowt in between!

Super - How many feeds does Hasan have every 24 hours? The Fat Toddler has now cut all night feed (hoorah!!) and somtimes forgets his lunch feed, so he feeds:

8am, afternoon, maybe about 8pm, then last thing at night.

He's started to lose interest a bit now so I am trying to capitalise on it by offering him bottles of cows milk (whih he rejects, so today I sneaked a wee bit f banana nesquick into it an he scoffed the lot - I remember doing that with DD and reducing the nesquick each day until it was just milk)

R U still co-sleeping? We are but planing to evict him when he reaches two, he can then move in with his sister at the bottom of her bunk bed

OMG have been scoffing cadbury's dairy milk ALL DAY

mygreatauntgriselda · 28/11/2008 21:54

Sponge, remind me how many DCs will you have when newborn arrives in June?
