Ohh thats good Andiem - what are you getting?

I havent been very good at introducing meat much yet - are you using left over cooked chicken or specially grilling a bit for LO?

and Ive got red lentils - what do I do? Soak them 1st or just boil for how long? (Think I bought them in Lidl and cant see the instructions.)

Keep the ideas coming!!

milkyJammy · 26/01/2008 18:23

we use left over cooked chicken.

no need to soak lentils, i just cook them for 20/25 mins

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 26/01/2008 18:24

jbm I am getting a VW tiguan (stupid name)

the chicken and sweet potato thing I just poach the chicken and veges in some salt free stock cube and then mash it up

same with lentils cooked for 20 mins with carrots in stock mashed up them added grated cheese (watch the lentils though they expand a lot!)

milkyJammy · 26/01/2008 18:26

what make of stock cube do you use andiem?

justbeme · 26/01/2008 18:32

Ohh Ive never "poached" chicken -!!!!
I did read in an old Annabel Karmel book to hold the lentils till their 8mths - L's 6.5mths - S'pose it can do much harm.

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 26/01/2008 18:39

I've used lentils from day 1 poaching the chicken just means boiling it up with the veges !!!!!!
I use a stock cube I get in waitrose

foxythesnowman · 26/01/2008 19:47

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 26/01/2008 20:31

I think dd's favourite is croissant! but she's only had it once! She likes roast parsnips. And houmous.

foxythesnowman · 26/01/2008 20:41

Hullo Bumper. Before you know it, she'll be having a BabyChino with her Croissant

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 26/01/2008 20:48

LOL foxy, she drinks water from a doidy cup with her meal so now she thinks she's entitled to drink from any cup I have in my hand!

I've emailed you btw!

milkyJammy · 26/01/2008 20:49

C wants to have any drink I have - and is especially fascinated by anything in a glass (note I only drink low sugar blackcurrant & apple squash in front of her!)

milkyJammy · 26/01/2008 21:03

Oh dear, we just opened some choc covered coffee beans and I had more than I originally intended too - forgetting for a moment that coffee beans contain caffeine. D'oh! How well am I going to sleep tonight???

foxythesnowman · 26/01/2008 21:05

Oh well, Jammy. You might as well finish them off now!

I made a chocolate cake which is like a chocolate orange in cake form with amiretti overtones.

foxythesnowman · 26/01/2008 21:06

what happened there?

I hadn't finished that post, let alone hit 'post' and now I've forgotten what I was going to say. [dur!]

milkyJammy · 26/01/2008 21:10

Your cake sounds truly yummy Foxy, do you have a slice to spare?

Izzybel · 26/01/2008 21:16

Hi everyone! Thanks for all your welcomes. Boy this thread moves fast! Chatterboxes
Nattythomasandellen - no my name's not Mel. I'm in Lancashire, by the way, anyone else?
My DD is Isabel, need to change my name really as Izzybel is what I call her when I'm mucking about!
Milkyjammy - DP was having a beer before and DD was trying to grab it off him!

foxythesnowman · 26/01/2008 21:21

Its a Rachel Allen receipe, tried to find it but no luck. Cooked for friends last night, and it was a roaring success. Am just discovering I can actually cook!

Hi Izzy - where abouts in Lancashire are you? DP is from up that way.

DD1 was deeply affronted that I had my friends round last night, and that I wouldn't let her have any of my fizz. How dare I have a girly night without her!

milkyJammy · 26/01/2008 21:24

Hi Izzybel. Nice to meet you
And hi too to Brownsuga

Well, I'm off to bed. I do feel tired, but a bit "edgy" thanks to the hit of caffeine that's just kicked in, but i think a crack at the hard crossword will knock me out, it usually does. See if C can do a repeat performance and sleep through again? (I'm not expecting it, but a girl can hope can't she?)

foxythesnowman · 26/01/2008 21:26

Ah, but once you know that can actually do it, it makes things easier! N'night. I'm off to bed too.

Izzybel · 26/01/2008 21:26

Hi Foxy! I'm near Preston. Wow you can cook! I can't!

Izzybel · 26/01/2008 21:28

Night you two.

foxythesnowman · 26/01/2008 21:28

it surprised me too!
