im sure jake likes to throw his head forward at an alarming rate, so i looks like i shake him at next checkup!

Gracie throws her head forward too. Only when she can see your face though. Its because she loves being kissed. She chews on my mouth, then coos and grins like a mad thing!!! Cute, but I'm just wondering when one of us is going to get hurt!!!
Re: the jaw thing - sorry can't remember who asked (other thread and I daren't open the old one and risk crashing my computer!!). It may well be that due to all the stress you're under you're grinding your teeth in your sleep (what little sleep you're getting) Is it worse when you wake up? If so it may be worth getting a mouth guard for when you're asleep - not attractive, but at least it will be another form of contraception!!!!

kosh-thanks for starting the new thread-great title BTW but same as kayzed here as Sophie is a wonder baby and lifted her head up as soon as she came out Hope things are a little brighter for you.

prettymum-Sophie is still in tiny baby (up to 7lb) and newborn (up to 10lb) clothes and lots of people bought pretty 0-3 month summer outfits (short sleeves and legless) which will fit in about December so won't be any good if the winter is really cold.

whitestar-men . Have to say though, at least you got some flowers! Doesn't happen in the Humphrey household-lucky to get a card!

Went for an eyetest yesterday as it has been 5 years since my last one. So needed new lenses and of course they can't put new lenses in my existing frames so had to buy some more. Conned me into having some sort of coating on them too. Am officially skint so couldn't afford any new presciption sunglasses so having to use my old ones-my poor eyes

Had to give Sophie a bottle at lunchtime and she was crying alot with everyone staring while it was heating up. So I picked her up so her head was on my cheek and she turn round and sucked on my cheek-ouch!!!!! People do stare and think 'what a bad mother', you can see the look on their faces.

Feeling really sorry for myself at the mo. Have bad sciatica and woke this morning with a sore throat from hell so am a bit poorly. Also have AF pain from hell but no AF. DD1 has a cold too. Am a tad distressed at how much I spent yesterday as trying to pay everything off so I don't have to return to work and it is not going very well. Took a migraine tablet on Saturday which must have upset Sophie as she spat milk out all afternoon, all night and all Sunday. She and everything was soaked and required lots of clothe changes and bedding changes in the night. She was up twice last night too-doh!

DH also hassling me about going to the annual Bike Show at the NEC later this month but I really don't want to go this year-just not ready to leave Sophie.

Anyway, I won't bore you any more. Bought some Violas to do my winter pots but don't have the energy. Oh, and supposed to be finishing off the grass as we got rained off on Sunday. Hope I feel better by my B'Day on Sunday (37 ).

hi everyone, its been ages since ive been on as our internet isnt working and wanado are dragging their feet fixing it, so im on my parents pc.
DS is settling a bit more in the day and isnt screaming quite as much, hell even sit in his bouncy chair for 15 mins but i have to keep trying him as mostly he refuses to be anywhere apart from held[hemce one handed typing]
hell still only sleep in the day being held and in the evening we have to hold him until hes fast asleep b4 we can put him down, so im normally eating dinner while holding him.

he was sleeping from 8pm to 2ish,5ish and 7 but past 2 nights slept 8 to 1, 3,5 and 7 so not getting much sleep. i cant decide if i should move him upstairs in the evening to sleep. i cant dream feed him as im afraid ill never get him back to sleep, i have to cuddle him to sleep after his night feeds now.

ive also been a really bad mum, my mother has just started to have him every saturday night for us. i feel really guilty about this as i think hes too young to be away from me but she said as long as hes fed and happy whats the problem and we do get a full nights sleep.

im still bf but getting loads of problems latching on and soreness dispite seeing a bf counsellor. he just wont open his mouth wide enough.

he had his jabs last week and screamed and for the day after cried all day i couldnt put him down at all. he only weighs 11lb

Zack's cold seems to be clearing at last and a typical night is he goes down at 10pm then wakes at 1, 3 and then gets up anytime between 4.30 and 6 so still not great but better. We went to the clinic this morning and at last he has started gaining some proper weight again in fact he has put on 10 ozs in a week, I was so relieved last week I left the clinic and cried all the way home!

How do you get your babies to sleep during the day? I used to be able to put Zack in his swing but he doesn't like this anymore. The only way I have been able to get him off for the last few weeks is to take him out in the pram but yesterday I got absolutely soaked in the torrential rain and had to stay in during the afternoon which meant he was awake between 1 and 6 and very grouchy.

HC- can't you just fill in the form, as far as they are concerned you are not sure what you are doing workwise at the mo?

Kbaby- I think its great your mum can help you like that. In fact I'm very !!

Me again, bloody DH's. He just phoned so I told him about the holiday list but ended up crying about it. He was in a 'so what' mood and told me to pull myself together which didn't help then in the middle of the conversation just said 'bye then' and hung up. In 14 weeks this is only the 2nd time I have been tearful so why is he being an arse over it??? Can't stop the tears now-doh!

Also, bid for a laptop on Ebay that I couldn't really afford and now a week and a half later I still haven't got it!

Humprheys, so sorry to hear about all your problems.... I think you've been great, crying twice in 14 weeks seems like a record to me. I'm more on the 14 times every 2 weeks side...
Went yesterday to the craneal osteopath for my dd reflux. Fortunately she smiled all through the treatment! The therapist said that her diaphram is really tigh (probably due to my 4 days of labour). She also found a link with the fact that dd can't turn the head to the right side, we try to encourage her with toys but ends up always looking at her left side. She said that some of the neck nerves are irritated (she had the cord around her neck) and this again tightens the diaphram and causes reflux.
Now, considering this theory, do you think a chiropractor would be better for her? I don't understand very well the differences between both of them . I'll start a new thread on the health section to see if someone can help me.

Still no PC, so v quick update. Something must have clicked with Leo's sleeping - in the space of 2 weeks he has gone from feeding every 2 or 3 hours in the night to near enough sleeping through. Twice he has slept 9pm to 8am (11 hours!!!! - didn't think BF babies were supposed to do this - the others never did!) and he usually goes for about 8 hours. He wakes in the night but settles himself by sucking his thumb. He is not a very good sleeper in the day, and finds it hard to settle, and wakes up when I put him down after a feed. I usually have to rock the pram a bit, but then he wakes up when it stops!

Hi all. I've been a bit quiet, as we've been busy. We decided that we could manage to take DD and Michael away for a few days' holiday and we had a lovely time in the Wye Valley. I BF-ed in some surprising places - Tintern Abbey, other old churches we visited, etc. It was good to feel more confident about public BF-ing. I found it very hard with DD, three years ago. I owe it to all the mumsnetters who have encouraged me to do it.

Sorry to hear about your problems HC. Hugs to you and hope all gets better. Michael is OK, but he had bad colic for a couple of weeks. At the weekend, it seemed to be getting worse, as he was actually screaming at some points. Then, on Monday, I noticed what the cause was - one tooth very near the surface and another on the way. I didn't expect it this early (he's 13 weeks old today), but my mother tells me that my brother had four teeth by the time he was four months old. Apparently, it does run in families. Calpol helped yesterday, but he's also a lot calmer today. You think you've got them sussed and then they do something you hadn't anticipated, don't they?

Oh HC I'm so sorry you poor thing, DH's just don't get it do they? Their lives don't really have to change all that much. I think you should reply in writing to your manager and not bother with ringing her. Crying twice in 14 weeks-Oh My God! Tell your Dh how lucky he is my dp has to put up with it every week from me.

In fact I had to just stop myself from crying. Pathetic really I was only trying to get Zack to sleep. The only way I can do it is to take him for a walk or put him on the breast. It really is a nightmare, I hate going visiting with him and I hate having visitors here because of this. I have tried leaving him to cry, a dummy, cuddling, rocking and the swing- nothing works. Aaargggghhhh Its driving me mad, its making me a prisoner at home.

usandbump, have your tried with a sling? My dd only sleeps during the day if I carry her with the KariMe or the BabyBjorn. I feel for you because my dd cries a lot too and I'm always embarrased about going out or having people around.
Just tried to feed her with Nutramigen. Smells of dog food . She was disgusted, poor thing. Refused to drink it and had to rush and prepare another bottle with her usual formula...

So - how many weight watchers points in a harvesters Mediterraen Chicken dish? Just been for a very nice lunch with a girl from work, with both boys, managed to resist pudding but salivated over hers, why is it always the skinny girls that get to eat pudding?

Toby will sleep in his bouncy chair if I bounce him in it ( he is so heavy he squashes the vibrations it makes!) or in the car or the buggy. To be honest if he is full he will quite happily sit in the chair watching DS1 or us. In the morning he will go back to sleep in his cot, and i am encouraging him to fall asleep on his own, doesn't always work of course....

Thanks girls-I think what set me off was reading about one of the ladies on the PG thread who has received the results of an amnio and she is carrying a Downs baby. eidsvold put a story on called Welcome to Holland written by a lady who had a Downs baby. It is such a moving story.

Gosh, sounds like a few of us are having a bit of a wobble at the mo ? I had my first seriously down and tearful evening last night, trying to make some sense of how I?m going to fit earning a living and looking after a baby into just one life! Feel very out of control about it all. DP for some reason was much less sympathetic than usual, just kind of patted me on the head and carried on watching telly (not even a GOOD programme, some cheesy docu-drama about Nuremburg !!!) I feel like such a cliché as well, ?stressed mum trying to juggle work, home life and a baby? ? aaaaargh!

{{{{{hugs}}}}} to everyone dealing with constant crying, I?m sure you?re doing brilliantly under very distressing circumstances. Emma has bad days where she won?t settle which are horrible but I think things are generally improving as she gets older. Although TEETHING ? bloody hell, I hadn?t even thought of that as something that might happen in the near future, but I suppose it is !!

Kayzed, that must be so frustrating about the feeding ? I know I totally rely on bf to stop Emma crying, can?t imagine what life would be like if it didn?t work. Hope you can find a solution soon and also that the docs can do something quickly to treat the haemangioma so that?s one less thing to worry about too. {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} to you.

Kbaby ? bloody Wanadoo (or Orange, as they now call themselves) [rant alert] ? it was because of them I had no broadband for 8 weeks!! Don?t listen to their nonsense about how the fault must be with your equipment, it was their ?upgraded line speed? which was the problem ? the BT lines that they rent can?t cope with it. I had to move suppliers in the end as there was no prospect of my service returning anytime soon.

HC, grrrrrrrrrrrrr to your manager and DH - or not so DH today. I had a huge row with my DH yesterday - he just does not understand how time consuming looking after the baby is. And he "suggested" I started excercising and dieting! Humpf.

I get Sefton off to sleep in the day by holding him tightly in my arms, popping the dummy in his mouth and singing/ talking softly to him. It works but he doesn't sleep long - only half an hour. Having said that, on the weekend I was so knackered that when he wanted one of his afternoon feeds I went and laid in bed and fed him on our sides, and we both drifted off. Then I got up and he stayed asleep for another 1.5 hours!!! MUST try that again.....

Kbaby, your LO is doing well... mine was only 11lbs at 11 weeks.

Summer is officially OVER

Been away a while - hope I haven't missed much!

Sleep during the day - that is a tricky one. My LO would only go to sleep in his vibrating bouncy chair, with me bouncing it, with the sounds of the sea playing and the hoover on to calm him down! I decided to really persist with this every time he looked remotely tired and would sit rocking until he went to sleep. For all this effort I would only get 30mins sleep. He is a little better now although I still only get 30 mins at a time. He will now go to sleep in the pram (often needs a bumpy path, ssshhhhing, and a bit of rocking) and the car. Today he went to sleep by himself in his carry cot - shock horror - unfortunately it only lasted about 5 minutes! I've worked out thought that since he was about 3 weeks old he has only slept for about 10 hours in 24 hours. This used to be mainly at night and now I get him to have sleep in the day he does not sleep so well at night

How much do all you LOs sleep in 24hrs?

A big hug to all those feeling down. I feel that because I'm moving towards the end of the 'new born' stage its getting more like 'this is life!' Living surrounded by boxes with a flabby tummy, clothes that don't fit, and only one room in the house looking like it should do, is getting me down as well but I enjoy my ds so much that he gets me through it. If he was crying a lot I don't know what I would do so big hugs all round!

I know its a bit of an old topic but talking about nappies - my DS was on his mat getting some air to his bits and bobs when we heard a sound. Luckily my mum was close enough to lift up the nappy to catch the poo that was coming out - horizontal! If she hadn't of it would have gone straight across the room! THey are amazing!

Hope I have not put anyone off their tea!

Have a good nights sleep everyone - my DS has gone from having 5 / 6 hour stretches to 3 / 4 hour aaarrrggghh. My mum says he needs solids! Typical grandma!

Hi - really feeling for a lot of you here.
HC - Yes it is a sad fact that men are s**ts!! Mine doesn't seem to get how emotional I can get these days (of course I had used to be a dried up harpie with no emotions to speak of - but still) I suffered with sciatica all the way through my pregnancy - vile.
Oldiemum - My 11 week old has got the tell tale white bump of teething (and the grumps to go with it) It is a nightmare - Calpol just made her v pooey and even more upset so I'm going with dentinox on a teether. You can get the Tomee Tippee ones that are a bit like dummies/gum shields although I don't know what the deal would be if you are BF.

Kbaby I know Evie was early and small but she only weighs 12lbs at 15weeks and shes doing OK As long as James is gaining weight and is healthy dont worry too much as for leaving him with grandma fair play I would if they weren't so far away!
Wallace: Evie BF & also started sleeping through the night for anything between 8-11 hours also happened really suddenly! She's also crap sleeper during the day!

Anyhow sorry for long post trying to catch up dont get to come on as much as I'd like now
Evie's doing well her daddy took her to baby massage this week and they both loved it it was sooo cute she was the only baby not to cry at all! Also joined monkey music classes!?! WTF?! But she seemed to really like it even if I felt like a bit of a tit!
