prettymum · 05/10/2006 08:56

it has taken me more than half an hour to read through everyones post!! as you can see i have a lot of time on my hands!! not- had to neglect children!!

ds has been going to sleep 7-8 the last 2 or feed. couldnt settle him back to sleep last night though as he has a cold!!so ended up putting him in our bed to settle him!

i have been weepy at least once a week, i go all funny with dp who ends up feeling guilty but he always seems to have the answer to everything which i do not always want!! but he did buy me flowers the other day which put a big fat smile on my face and we've been at it like rabbits since we started doing the deed few weeks ago!!

hope everyone who are having problems settling their dc find a solution soon, i find swaddling the best way for ds.

also ivebooked my driving test for next month so hopefully i might be driving by xmas! i was doing a lesson yesterday and had to ask instructor to take over near the end because i started to feel like i wasnt in control of the car, got dizzy(it was a really scary feeling)

i think ive written enough and will give your eyes a rest!! hope everyone has a lovely day even with the horrible rain!!

prettymum · 05/10/2006 09:00

sleepisfor weak- ive tried with the housework, doesnt look ive even touched the place!! i have finished my pile of ironing but its already building up again!!

lori21 · 05/10/2006 09:25

Really worried last night and this morning - DS had blood in his nappy. Makes me feel worse writing it down as it makes it more real. We are off to the doctors in a bit so fingers crossed it is nothing serious.

Hope everyone got a good nights sleep. DH came home late last night and woke me and DS up.

mistypeaks · 05/10/2006 09:42

lori, poor you. Hope everything is ok, will be thinking of you all morning. keep us posted.

nuria · 05/10/2006 10:42

good luck lori!
first, emma is gorgeous!!

lori21 · 05/10/2006 13:31

The doctor was great - checked DS all over and said that as he has had a normal nappy since it should not be anything major. He said it is likely to be caused by the copious amounts of poos he does causing some irritation which in turn has caused the skin to crack and bleed. If the problem does continue though we have to go back. What a relief......

Hello girls

lori-great news, what a worry for you.

FirstatForty-fab piccies hun.

kayzed-no touching that cream How is your throat?

Me and Sophie are still full of cold so making getting up in the night a chore. Feel rough, rough, rough! So stuck in the house and sitting looking at the mess but not having any energy to do any housework. DH did offer to give a bottle in the night to give me a rest but not until Saturday night and I will be much better by then. Well, at least he did offer!

Still no laptop. The cretin has only gone and posted it (supposedly) by Standard Parcels-not what I paid for!

Picked up a pack to complete to register DD1 for school next September. DD1 promptly spilt her drink all over it.

Anyway, toodle pip and hugs to all.

great news, lori !

chester30 · 05/10/2006 16:07

1stat 40 - lovely pictures!

hope everyone else is alright.

i'm having trouble with b/f, dd is unsettled after feeding don't know if this is because i don't have enough milk.. etc. I feel so exhausted and also trapped at home! feel guilty saying that i am tired as i know so many of you are having interrupted nights. dd sleeps 10 - 7,8am ish. during the day she requires constant entertainment.

does anyone else use the babybjorn thing? or bjornagain as i call it. dd gave her grandma a bad back - she is now 12lbs at 11wks 5days.

1st at 40 was yr dd born on 17th july?

my dd - miss e was born on 17th july too you see.

have been reading the discussion about constant crying - quite depressing and v. familiar. my dd can still be like that now if the feeding is going badly.

i'm also wondering how i can continue b/f for 6months if i am tired now. its also alot of milk to produce for a baby at 6 months - i will be rather large chested surely. sorry bit fed up today!

chester30 · 05/10/2006 16:10

lori i'm pleased everything is ok. finding blood is frightening. my dd vomited blood in thevfirst few weeks it was awful - apparently caused by me. why is everything my fault!

nuria · 05/10/2006 17:27

chester, I use the babybjorn almost all day everyday and I love it. But would recommend to you also the Karime because you can carry the baby in different positions (so the efford in your body is not always in the same place).
Go on with bfeeding if you can. I had to switch to bottle and I'm hating it! In fact, I've just been fighting with my Dr Browns bottles. They always leak!! And the lids...you have to be the incredible Hulk to close them properly.

nuria · 05/10/2006 18:49

Feeling awful...my period is back!! Didn't thought it was going to arrive so fast (only stopped bfeeding ten days ago). Hating it. Better try soon for number 2

FirstAtForty · 05/10/2006 18:53

Lori ? glad the doc?s advice was reassuring

Chester ? I use the Babybjorn with the extra back support as I have a dodgy back (it wraps round the waist as well as over the shoulder). I?ve always found it really comfortable, the only hassle is constantly having to readjust it as DP uses it as well. And Emma was born on 16 July (14 days overdue!!)

HC ? keeping fingers crossed for you for speedy laptop delivery ? how very annoying!

Kayzed ? really hope the cream does the trick, nice and fast!

Twirl ? sorry you?re feeling down, I think like someone said we?re all getting to the stage now where real life is catching up with us after the births, we don?t have the adrenalin to get us through any more. I?m sure it will get better though as we (eventually!!) get routines a bit more sorted. And apparently crying is supposed to peak at 2 ? 3 months, so should start to improve soon?

Mistypeaks ? hope things were better for you today

UsandBump ? feel for you as I experienced similar situations when my mother and MIL were around quite a lot after the birth. They were both convinced that her frequent crying was all linked to ?a pain in her tummy? and not the fact that she wanted another feed (she was feeding like a monster, every 1.5 hours). I?d practically have to mug them to get the screaming baby back so I could feed her . They meant well of course but that didn?t help! Re bottle feeding, of course it's probably worth it being your DH who persists rather than you, though it?s always really hard to know at what point to give up. It's tricky isn't it, my DP is very sensitive to any criticism on nappy changing technique etc (and there has been some!) .

Re daytime sleeping, Emma naps in the vibrating chair, or if she is very overtired / overstimulated her moses basket (with a dummy) is usually the best bet. The books (for what it's worth) say to try and remove as much outside stimulation as possible once they get to that really fractious stage, so taking them into darkened rooms, making sure the radio / tv is turned down etc, and putting them into their familiar beds. Sometimes it works like a charm, other times it?s a complete failure .

Thanks for all your nice comments about Emma and the pics .

cheers Kayzed
Getting such conflicting advice!!
Its a blooming mindfield of info out there!!

nuria · 05/10/2006 21:04

kayzed, so glad ranitidine seems to work!
ranitidine decreases the production of acids while gaviscon creates a barrier that helps keeping food down. So if Roshi is in pain while she feeds but after the feed she also vomits you need both. If, as my dd, she never vomits you can use only the ranitidine (at least thats what we did).
You have my symphaties about the drunk face, hard to get with reflux but those few times sooo rewarding!

Hi
Realised that my post about the MIL and mother refusing to let go of Emma when crying doesn't make much sense, unless I explain that the reason they wouldn't hand her over for feeding was because they were v busy trying to wind her to rid her of 'the pain in her tummy'!

Kayzed, bless you, you've made my day. I am 40 (well 41 now actually ) and Emma is my first, hence the name. Let's just say I'm not a stranger to hair dye

HumphreysCorner · 06/10/2006 09:14

Morning ladies

FirstatForty-when I looked at your photo I too thought and now I know your age lol!

Another bad night. Me and Sophie full of cold still and although I dosed her up with Calpol and fed her until she went into a drunken stupor she woke at 2am then 5-30am. DH forgot to bring the changing box up so had to stumble downstairs for it at 2 in the morning. Not going swimming of course today.

Van-how strange that your HV suggested solids now Our HV's are urging us to wait until 6 months but am going to start before that. Weaned DD1 at 17 weeks as she was a hungry baby but might leave Sophie a little while longer. Have bought some spoons and bowls.

Hope you all have a good day. Going to 'wait in vain' for my laptop and cuddle Sophie.

HC,
at laptop waiting!! Did the seller have much positive feedback? I would threaten to contact your bank over a fraud charge if it hasn't turned up today... it seems odd though, if it were fraud, would he reply to your e-mails?

1st@40, I also thought there was no way you were 40 (or 41)!! What is your secret? Please say it is a wild youth!

We have discovered that Sefton LOVES being in his maxi cosi car seat when at home, it can be used like a rocker... the more he kicks the madder it goes, we put the sheepsk in first, so he is really cosy and happy.

Had a MUCH better night's sleep last night - woke up once at 3am for a BIG feed, and then again at 7!! yayyyyyy

KZ - so glad things have improved, what a relief! Can you start going out more now?

Koshka - how u hon? I think the last we heard from you, you had a hangover! Hope you have recovered?

have great dyas ladeez

lori21 · 06/10/2006 09:46

Thanks for all your support. DS has his 2nd jabs todayso my protective mothering instincts will be on overdrive!

DS had been sleeping really badly again but last night 9 - 4 then 4.30 - 7.30 amazing, he has also just gone to sleep BY HIMSELF!!!!! Hope all these miracles are not one offs

Humphreyscorner - hope you feel better soon - I'm dreading getting poorly - it must be twice as bad as before you have children. My house looks a complete state and i have not got any excuses so dont worry

1st@40 - I recognise the 'pain in the tummy' one. My mum went out and came back with colic drops to sort out the 'pain in the tummy' which in fact was 'refusing to go to sleep in the day' cured be frantic rocking and white noise!

kz - great to hear that things are improving

Hope everyone has a good day - DS is still asleep but I may have to wake him to go for his jabs - what a pain
