I agree with reastie that the best thing for them to do would have been to let you know this would happen and ask if you would be more comfortable with Zoe being included or not. I suspect they were well-meaning but were also rather stupid really and as reastie said there's really no excuse. Sorry tho, it's totally shit.

I have just spoke to DF, he was crying at the funeral only because he was so angry about Zoe being left out. It takes a hell of alot for him to get like that. He is going to speak to his mum about it but I'm not sure thats such a good idea. It was mil who had written the words for the service, she knows that we talk about Zoe lots and it would not have hurt us by mentioning her, it would have made us proud.

I'm sorry for ranting away, here I just need to get it out.

mizk Nate is getting much worse with his sleep, so you're not alone. I might post in sleep at some stage but ironically am too tired.

reastie oh poor you, I don't know what to say. I was sort f considering CC when deb did so well but I don't think I could after your story. I suppose in the great scheme of life 4 days is hardly anything, so 2 weeks is not an unreasonable length of time but it must be so hard.

delia forgot to say, we are getting a waitrose about 5mins walk away . Probably for the best if I'm going to work next month if I keep popping in there for treats

eau hello! Glad things are well. at the cats getting fat, my mum had my sisters dog when I was last there and he loved feeding time as he got to eat whatever went on the floot.

MizK thanks for nice words re: interview, suppose I did do ok considering I have been in babyland the last few months! to C sleep (or lack of it), poor you sounds so tiring. FWIW dp and I havn't managed to 'dtd' since our break in August - and we only managed then b'cos there was no baby!! We are both tired and A is sleeping pretty well so don't want to think about how you must be feeling. Enjoy goose fair anyway, it'll be busy on Sat!

Oh reastie goose fair is a yearly big fair (biggest one in europe) they have in Nottingham. Loads of rides, flashing lights, candy floss, teenagers etc I am not a nottingham native so thats all I know, maybe MizK knows why its called 'goose' fair...

Today I went to baby massage, very nice as they did it in the sensory room and A loved it (the lights etc not the massage)
Then went into town and in the lift in boots on the way back to the car realised I had some baby food in my hair What a scruff glam mummy I am
Thanks to those who said to stop trying to work out what made the amazing night of sleep the other night - last night I was up 4 or 5 times so to that.

jane i dont think people think tbh,my Mum never spoke to us about my brother snd seems embarrasd if i mention him.I think its only recently that people were encouraged to talk about their losses openly.I agree she should have been mentioned,its really hard to hear she was left out of the list of grandchildren.

mizk My sympathies.I had a terrible few weeks with D,soiunds similar to yours,i was really getting down with it all.I found that completely messing up her routine but having some unavoidable late nights,making sure she napped in the day and dh doing shsh pat everytime she woke in the night seemed to work and she's a lot better at the mo.Still an early riser but i can live with that especially with my new 9pm bedtime not much going on here either tbh by way of dtd,im too tired and to be honest i think he is too.Its normal in the first year and the money worries dont help the old libido

Alice just fell asleep while feeding so I'm going to wake her up a bit before she goes in her cot so she knows she can't feed to sleep

jane am glad today is over for you and dh, am a bit at Zoes name not being mentioned, hope you get some rest tonight and you and df can relax - that's such a big thing you were able to do today, you should be very proud of yourself xx

borg and MizK Anna is still up a few times during the night, deffo think being free of feet has made her more comfortable, but she is getting up to have bottles.

Off to catch up, you know you all aren't allowed to talk if I've a busy day having lunch with my sister cleaning.

Ps Bought Anna two Halloween tops and little pumpkin bootees today , only because Olivias birthday party is over Halloween and all the other kids get dressed up

cc update - crying - 20 mins, sleep - 30 mins, crying - 1 hr 10 mins, sleeping - finally now. I am just getting so upset by all this crying now. My Mum was tempting me to give up on it, I think she thinks I'm being cruel. I'm really unsure now . Alice has NEVER slept through the evening - she's always had a sleep at about 7 for up to an hour and then woken up and been awake for an hour or so before going back to sleep again - I wonder if we're doing or expecting too much from her sleeping for 12 hours with a dream feed in the middle - do you think deb and others I should keep sticking with her crying for over an hour every evening when before she was awake or should I let her get up and have snuggles etc and then put her back in her cot when still awake when she shows tired signs?

God im not sure reastie8 i felt a bit sad when you said she has a croaky voice and was scraed of her room.Its easy for me to say tho cos Dills is sleeping ok atm and when she is up its never as bad as Alice.
What does dh think? What is your gut telling you to do?
I defo didnt have the stomach for it and im not sure it suited Dilly as she didnt give up-ever.Have you researched other methods?Dilly responded well to shush pat in the night with breaks for a cry then back in to shush pat.That said she could be awfull tonight cos she is unpredictable and i will be trying cc.Did you go on the net,how about baby whispers pu pd? Have eaten tea but now have a belly ache.Dilly had her usual fart fest in the night and went down at 7 so it will be an early start for us,btw reastie d only ever sleeps about 10 hrs never 12. hth.

reastie :( so sorry Alice is still struggling. I would stick it out a bit longer if it was me, maybe for a week if I could stand it. Is DH still holding strong? If you do decide to try a different approach, I would do the research first and go in fully prepared. However as I said 'd personally give it a bit longer.

thanks for the cc comments. I think dh is going along with it as we've started and we said we would give it at least a week. I can mostly take the up to half hour crying for most naps and in the night but it's the crying for over an hour non stop for the past 4 evenings when she's woken up, it's just too much for me, especialy when I go in to comfort her and see her in such a hopeless state. When she wakes up from a nap she takes a while to calm down from being upset and she seems a bit out of sorts with how to act with me as if she doesn't trust me that i'll leave her at any point. I just want to pick her up and cuddle her soooooo much. DH and I were talking about whether to let her just get up with us when she wakes up in the evening (about 7/8pm) and get her back to sleep at maybe 9ish when she seems tired again. She'd still then get 10 hrs by morning if she slept through. deb would it be a bad thing if I fed her to sleep once a day in the evening (or let her cry to sleep in cot but have her snuggling in that awake time) if most other naps (aside from when we are out) she put herself to sleep? I don't want to confuse her by doing this but it just doesn't feel right leaving her in the evening when usually she would be awake anyway.

Re: dtd I don't know why I go through all the pain of coil cramps all the time when since I had it put in we've only dtd maybe a handful of times. DH not interested at all . It seems alot of us arn't dtd as much now. I hope your DH is patient.

reastie I don't know what to say - am not much help. I tried ccing with Olivia and wouldn't do it again, so am not even considering it with Anna. She goes down at about 7pm for 3 hours or so, then up, quick bottle, down again and up at some point again for another bottle. I don't sleep myself for more than six/seven hours at a time anyway, so I'm not that bothered by it. Even Sofia who was a great sleeper/self settler etc didn't sleep for more than 10 hours on the trot.

reastie I hope this doens't sound patronising but are you sure she's being out of sorts with you? I just say that because I wonder if you're feeling guilty so think she might be not trusting you. Sometimes when I've had to leave A crying (like when I'm having a shower etc) I'm sure she seems more 'sad' than usual with me when I go in to her, but have to remind myself I'm not a bad mum and need to get showered, dressed etc! Also when I hold her sometimes she slaps me in the face flinging her arm about when shes going off to sleep and I have to remember not to take that personally too Don't see whats wrong with getting her up for an hour or so at 7/8pm then back to bed? Good luck anyway xx

reastie Dilly feeds to sleep at night its part of her routine.Maybe as thats the worst time she just has a wakefull period then like D does at 5 or 6am,even if she has a bad night or a late bedtime then she is still up before 7,its just her rythym.Why not build the night thing into her routine such as let her sit up with you but in dim light and no playing etc.I did this last night with D,she didnt want to settle so i just sat in the dim with her and watched tv whilst she played with some books on the sofa.Eventually i gave her another bottle and she fed to sleep.

ILove Ponyo Asda , Matalan also has loads, got her a top from Tesco, they have cute Halloween shoe/bootee there as well, but discovered today that A also has the hugest feet , I haven't put anything on her feet apart from socks but tried to slip a pair of slipper/sock things on her today, lets just be nice and say it was a bit like Cinderellas slipper only Anna wasn't in the Cinderella role

reastie I agree with ledkr. I would let her get up for a bit, let her play in a dim light, then put her back to bed when she's tired. As you say that seems to be her pattern. S only sleeps about 10 hours atm, she's been stirring since 5 this morning , I'm leaving her till at least 6 though. Plus as I said Imy went down for all her naps awake, after 10 mins of crying, but fed to sleep at night and slept through.

wiggles we got a new pillow for DH (£40.99 ), new sheet for our bed, new sheet for Mousie (don't ask), 6 jars for my Hand Sugar Scrub for xmas presents, a stool for the bathroom, and a new coat rail. Nothing v interesting! Had the breakfast and 4 free cups of tea though .

BTW reastie I went on the pill after I had Imy then came off it again when we dtd about once in 3 months! Hope That Side Of Things perks up again for all of us soon.

Can't believe it, S has gone back to sleep and I've been up since 5 for nothing!
