The old thread was full and it seemed like there was more to say.

It’s being reported that police have released the murder suspect (white 23 year old) and are saying that he is no longer helping them with their enquiries.

so we are back to square one with a suspect.

Surely, a relative of the actual culprit will have suspicions?

It's time to allow women and older people to carry pepper spray.

So they can have it grabbed from them and sprayed in their own eyes?

Also, at what age do you think it should be legal to carry?

Obviously, if you used the pepper spray, you would have to justify the use as reasonable force.

This answers neither of my questions?

Obviously, you deploy the pepper spray before the assailant grabs it. It's legal to carry pepper spray in New York. I am thinking all women and anyone over 65 should carry pepper spray for defence.

A travel size aerosol of hairspray or similar is something I carry in my pocket if walking alone. Never had to use it, and I'd probably be overcome before I could retrieve it, but it's a comfort to know it's there. I haven't told anyone I do this, I think they would laugh at me. But I'm in my sixties now and not gym supple enough anymore to fight a man off. But I don't think any woman is really strong enough to do that either.

The Police don't investigate burglaries anymore. Even if caught, burglars are spared prison. Where is the deterrent?

I mean in an ideal world maybe.

In reality, the person who knows they're going to attack will be much quicker and be able to grab it, and even more so if they're younger and fitter.

And then of course there's the fact even a slight breeze will blow it back into the user's face.

I would suspect the murderer was known to Ann as otherwise surely the police would be warning local people to be vigilant and keep doors and windows locked. There was a murder near me and the fact that the police were not concerned with alerting the neighbours was rather reassuring (it was indeed a family member).

You would have thought the culprits reletavis would have dobbed him in by now if he had gone home.

According to the BBC, the attack happened at 12 - 30 pm on Wednesday. They re still hunting for a white male.

Well most people are murdered by someone they know but that isn’t always the case. If they are now following the theory that it WAS related to her politics (to be clear they have not said that) then it would follow there is no risk to the neighbours and local community.

She apparently last sent a message to tv production on Weds at 12.19. She was supposed to join a Zoom call prior to an appearance on the show but when they asked her to join at 12.48 there was no reply. That’s a narrow window which will hopefully help the police.

My df strode down to the newsagent’s to cancel delivery of the Daily Mail following the “cheque book journalism” controversy of the DM paying Sonia Sutcliffe. Df’s principled stand did not appear to harm the DM’s fortunes!

That's an odd association to make what do think are the similarities?

I would be more likely to use it against the dogs that attack me when I am out jogging. There needs to be a deterrent to force owners to put their dogs on the lead.

That really is very specific.

Let's hope that after 72hrs the police have a lead or two.
