The entire world's movers and shakers, swindlers and fakers, public money piss-takers will be watching in trepidation at what Trump will do to them. The entire world's great and the good, high and the mighty, shifty and flighty will be supporting Hillary. Will you be with the people supporting Trump?

Have you got the ice cream, the chocolate, the biscuits and the matchsticks to keep the eyelids open ready?

As a warm-up, here is Sky News's 30 minute documentary shown last night

"Trump. Could it really happen?"

He's fact-checking the Republican nominee because the last NBC moderator was accused (rightly) of letting him off the hook with his lying ways.

AppleMagic · 27/09/2016 03:18

I think it stops her going after him as aggressively as he's going after her. It would be more helpful to the debate if he stopped Trump from running over and interrupting.

claig · 27/09/2016 03:41

Hillary recovered throughout the middle section on world affairs. Trump didn't really succeed on the Iran issue etc. Trump was off to a flying start and had more passion throughout and Hillary was reeling initially, but she recovered and probably won the middle section.

Overall, it was about even except that Trump had more passion and commitment to change which is probably the main factor in the election. Clinton is status quo and Trump is change.

As the pundits said before it started, Hillary has the experience and therefore had more to lose. Trump started with low expectations and the fact that it was about even in the end means that Trump as the outsider scored higher in the end.

Fox, apart from the excellent Sean Hannity, is slamming Trump.

Fox are right that Trump lost the birther section, the tax return section and in my opinion he even lost the Iran foreign affairs section. But what they are not mentioning, apart from Brit Hume, is that Trump won on trade, jobs and the economy as well as law and order and at the end of the day, those are the issues that really count. Birtherism and tax returns are not as important.

claig · 27/09/2016 04:08

Fox thinks Hillary won, but one commentator rightly says that Lester Holt helped her. He interrupted Trump lots of times and it is strange that he brought up large sections on birtherism and Trump's tax returns and nothing on the Clinton Foundation or Benghazi and emails etc.

It did seem slanted to help Hillary and put Trump on the backfoot over realtively minor issues.

The Establishment think they have got Trump, but he won on the economy and that is the number one issue.

The ecellent Charles Krauthammer says it was a draw and that means that the draw goes to the challenger.

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 27/09/2016 04:14

Keep telling yourself that, Claig.

claig · 27/09/2016 04:16

It's Charles Krauthammer, Belfast. As Republican Establishment as it gets and someone Trump is not at all keen on because Trump thinks he is as biased as it gets and Trump has attacked him lots of times.

Haven't even seen it and I know that if the US media says it was a tie then Trump won. The US media would not call a Trump victory unless they absolutely had to. If they could call a Hillary victory under any circus, they would.

Guess I ought to go read some papers ans see what happened! But I gather they didn't talk about emails, FBI, the Foundation?

claig · 27/09/2016 05:03

Yes, nothing on the emails, FBI, Clinton Foundation, pay for play, nothing.

Judge Napolitano said that Clinton clobbered Trump because Trump didn't go there at all, and that Clinton remained poised and for the first time ever, even looked likeable. Judge was right about all of that. But Trump won on the economy and that really is all he needs to do to win in the end.

Dana Perino rightly said that Trump didn't expand his vote and that Hillary shored hers up.

Megyn Kelly of Fox is totally biased against Trump in my opinion.

At the end of the day, the economy is the main thing and Trump won that and that will be enough.

Well I watched and Trump was a sniffling buffoon, as expected. He was laughable, especially when he claimed to have a better temperament and the audience (and Twitter) roared. My god, I'm no Clinton fan, but she totally walked all over him.

claig · 27/09/2016 05:05

At the end of the day, Trump is being badly advised. His new campaign guru, Kellyann Conway, is a politically correct disaster. Trump should take the gloves off and fight for the American people as he usually does and that will win him the election because just like here everyone is sick of corrupt politicians and wants someone to sort things out.

'He was laughable, especially when he claimed to have a better temperament and the audience (and Twitter) roared.'

But Trump fans love that. That was a joke. He takes the negatives they say about him and says he is better on those issues and Trump fans laugh and love it.

AppleMagic · 27/09/2016 05:08

Winchester the US media is in no way calling it a draw. Even Fox News is declaring it for Clinton. Only claig is calling it a draw.

claig · 27/09/2016 05:09

'Trump was a sniffling buffoon'

He always sniffles. i am not sure what that is all about. It is not good, but he does it often.

OP posts:
claig · 27/09/2016 05:11

'Even Fox News is declaring it for Clinton. Only claig is calling it a draw.'

I am watching Fox. I said they are biased against Trump but their absolute top guru, Charles Krauthammer, called it a draw and he is no fan of Trump and vice versa.

Tucker Carlson rightly told Megyn Kelly that Trump is ahead in the polls and Fox is pretending that he isn't.

OP posts:
Glastokitty · 27/09/2016 05:12

Craig, you can call it a joke if you like, and perhaps the Republicans are laughing with the Donald. But everyone else is certainly laughing at him.

And the sniffling thing looks like a serious cocaine habit, particularly if you say he does it often. Or perhaps he is just in poor health.

claig · 27/09/2016 05:14

'the US media is in no way calling it a draw.'

The US media will never call anything a draw for Trump, but the reality is that as underdog with no experience, the fact that it was roughly even and that he won on the economy, makes it a net positive for the insurgent.

OP posts:
claig · 27/09/2016 05:16

'But everyone else is certainly laughing at him.'

Yes, the people who are already not for Trump. But the electorate is divided. Those jokes mean nothing compared to the economy, jobs, trade and defedning the US standard of living for independent voters.

OP posts:
claig · 27/09/2016 05:17

'And the sniffling thing looks like a serious cocaine habit, particularly if you say he does it often. Or perhaps he is just in poor health.'

He does it all the time. I don't know what it is. I thought it may be some stress-related thing that appears more often during important speeches etc. I'm not sure what that is all about.

OP posts:
AppleMagic · 27/09/2016 05:21

the fact that it was roughly even

Confused
claig · 27/09/2016 05:22

AppleMagic, Charles Krauthammer, one of the top political guru commenators in the whole of the United States and not a fan of Trump.

OP posts:
claig · 27/09/2016 05:25

'Or perhaps he is just in poor health'

His doctor signed a document saying that there has never been a fitter candidate to run for President and Trump fans laughed and loved it. That is the Donald we love. He should sack all the politically correct advisers, take the gloves off and go for it.

OP posts:
AppleMagic · 27/09/2016 05:26

You can keep clinging to that but every other pundit and the polls are calling it a win for Hillary.
