5 reasons I hate Babywearing

  1. As it is so easy to feed on the move I can't make DH go to the supermarket during busy times just because she is due a feed.
  1. As it keeps them so lovely and warm I have not used any of the lovely snowsuits or jackets I bought and was given and they just sit sadly in my hallway gathering dust.
  1. It takes hours to get anything done as you are stopped all the way round the supermarket by cooing grannies telling you how wonderful and comfy it looks and how sweet and cosy your DC looks.
  1. I always need a pound coin as I only need a shallow trolley for the shopping when I only have DD2 and I never have one on me.

and the fifth and final reason I hate babywearing is

  1. It always puts them to sleep, even when you want them to stay awake to try and stagger nap and feed times!

chirpy - i get lpts of patronisig comments from men!! not just about my bike after. on the downside, thinking i'm going to have to sell it

here's 18. you can post pictures of DPs on the internet as payback or bribes!

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 17/12/2007 08:01

Aww! How sweet! Thanks for that, Chirpy, it has cheered up my morning!

Be, do you really have to sell...I know the awfulness of having something sat there going to waste while we bring up children, that's why I sold mine, and am glad to be free of the guilt of neglecting her! - but there is always the hope of one day getting another one

I'm confused! This thread started out as "Why I hate Babywearing" and has now become "Why I love Babywearing"!

But it's been a lovely thread! I have bought a Coory and Carry sling from one of the MNers, can't wait to use it on my lo!

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

Turtle I think the title and OP were a bit, well tongue in cheek!

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 17/12/2007 08:12

ok no. 18 should be why your dh/dp hates babywearing!

no.19 -people want to takes photos of my dh when he is babywearing, but they don't bother to want to take photos of me!
I remember dh was in Brussels carrying dd1 in a sling. He was stopped by a group of young, giggly japanese girls (tourists) and they took his photo!

I wrote an article about baby wearing for a local newsletter, and of all the photos I sent them to publish of me bearwearing, they chose the only one of dh baby wearing to publish! I wrote the article, and he got all the glory!

Belgo - LMAO. At least if they're choosing pix of men then seeing mamas slinging must be a common sight, which is great.

i've taken her out about once in the last 6months, she's only 9months old!!! DF bought her as a present for me after having ds2, now pg again feel wierd about taking her out i dunno, i'll be sad to let go, but i guess i need to, well only 5/6 months to go till i can ride again, but she wont even get turned over all that often as DF cant stand her....bit girly!

  1. DH/Dps make us spend more money on buying them 'manly' slings!
ChirpyGrinch · 17/12/2007 11:26

Bouncing - I was taking the piss with the thread title but only after it took me hours to get round tescos as I kept getting stopped!

Belgo - You were bearwearing?! IS that like extreme babywearing?!!

Beal, that's so sad for you, DH bought me CBT training 2 weeks before I got pregnant with DD2 so I ams till waiting to do it 11 months later!

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 18/12/2007 07:38
  1. I had to buy these two playmobil sets here and here for my children because they both feature babywearing - which means - not only am I a babywearing freak, I'm also a playmobil freak
ocomeALLYebabies · 18/12/2007 07:54

Belgo - they're so sweet.....Playmobils a few years away for us yet tho

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 18/12/2007 07:57

I haven't got my sling yet, Christmas post methinks...excited though!!!!

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 18/12/2007 08:00

We sent away for them, actually my brother sent away for them as Christmas presents for my girls, he never knows what to get them, and asks me to choose their presents from him

ocomeALLYebabies · 18/12/2007 08:05

what you gone for twinkly? we have to do that with all of DFs family belgo, bloody ridiculous if you ask me, how hard is it really? still cant complain at least it means they'll actually get something!

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 18/12/2007 08:07

Ooh I bought ChirpyGrinch's loveseat, it is gorgeous...it should be here today. Apparently like a Meitai but with clips instead of knots, I would be lost with knots so tis a good place to start for me

And SO pretty!

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 18/12/2007 08:08

Here!

ocomeALLYebabies · 18/12/2007 08:10

i want a new sling

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 18/12/2007 08:15

Oh pick me up on your way past, I could use a bit of speed too! Nostalgia kicking in...

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 18/12/2007 08:17

lol Ally - at least it means they get something they(I) want!

I also bought this for 10 pounds years ago before I had children before I had even heard of babywearinghere

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 18/12/2007 08:22

Belgo, that is just hysterical...Barbie doesn't do attachment parenting, surely? Or any kind of parenting?

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 18/12/2007 08:23

Can you imagine Breastfeeding Barbie, I think not...a bit too pert

ocomeALLYebabies · 18/12/2007 08:33

lol

that is true of Belgo ,but means i have to put the thought in!
