Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

Yes.

Cheesypea · 18/03/2021 18:14

Well it made me laugh.

Ok I won't hesitate. It's ridiculous!

I'm very non-judgemental when it comes to names and if they're basically known as Pippa all the time I can't imagine it would be a huge deal. I've never heard those names before and I would question whether you had 'invented' them? But people do that all the time with names. I can't see Pippa as a natural nickname for the other names you've suggested. Could you not just give Pippa as the name with no longer version if it's just that you want? I think that would raise a lot less eyebrows than 'Pippilotta' etc.

Onlinedilema · 18/03/2021 18:15

Of just go with Pippa

itstiktok · 18/03/2021 18:15

Please don't do it!

Tablegs · 18/03/2021 18:15

Yes.

hopeishere · 18/03/2021 18:15

I do not get this picking a name but it's a nickname thing. If you like Pippa just call her Pippa.

Lovely names btw.

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 18:15

Also, which would you favour between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa, knowing that twin A will be Quinn and older siblings are Arabella (Belle), Felix and Hugo?

Pippa and Quinn - P&Q might be a bit tricky. Mind your ps and qs etc?

MaidEdithofAragon · 18/03/2021 18:17

I think Ophelia known as Pippa works ok. Pippalotta is a no from me.

Bunnybigears · 18/03/2021 18:17

Eloise is nicest. But if you like Pippa just have Pippa no need for a long made up name.

TwilightSkies · 18/03/2021 18:17

It sounds like a seasoning of some kind. Please don’t do it.

Spied · 18/03/2021 18:17

Yes, they are a little ridiculous and dd will be miffed she didn't bag 'Quinn.
Ophelia nn Pippa is lovely with Quinn.

dementedpixie · 18/03/2021 18:17

Use Pippa not weird made up names

Quinn the twin? She'll like her Gin

Goslowlysideways · 18/03/2021 18:18

Love Quinn and I love the others. Choose what you like. Schools are awash with millions of Freyas!

kfh · 18/03/2021 18:18

Just pippa is fine

MirandaMarple · 18/03/2021 18:18

Too sausage-ey. I like Phillipa, and if she'll always be called Pippa what's the point in a full name?

Bmidreams · 18/03/2021 18:19

Of course it is! And Quinn is too much like quim. This is always stated on mn.

Bellyups · 18/03/2021 18:20

Just plain old Pippa is the best.

EvilOnion · 18/03/2021 18:20

Pippalotta/Pippilotta just looks/sounds pretty grim to me personally.

I know an adult Penelope who goes by Pippa. I've also looked after 2 child Pippa's (no other name on BC) over the years and they ended up getting called Peppa/Pippa Pig at school 🤨

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 18:20

@PamDemic

Yes it's completely ridiculous. Pippalotta! And no, Ophelia and Josephine don't work as full names for Pippa (they're lovely names on their own though I think).

If you love Pippa, just call her that.

fwiw I really like your other children's names, the twins names you are thinking are quite different in style.

PamDemic (love the username!) - do you have any suggestions that are similar in style to our three eldest? We've been struggling to come up with two 'classic' names that will sound good with their siblings. We thought Ophelia nn Pippa (we know a little Pippa whose full name is Ophelia) is of similar style to the older three, but perhaps I'm wrong?

Pippilotta, afaik, was “invented” by Astrid Lindgren’s daughter and is now known as Pippi Longstocking (or Langstrumpf if you prefer the original). Please don’t name your child that.
