Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

Yes and love Pippa

Quinn isn't classic.

MumofSpud · 18/03/2021 19:16

I wanted Our dog to be Quinn (big Homeland fan!)
Quinn doesn't go with your other DC 's names though
Pippalotte etc is Hmm

What about Piper instead of Pippa?

AyyMacarena · 18/03/2021 19:17

If you like Pippa as a nickname just use it. It doesn't need to match their "real name" or make sense. But you must have a nickname for the other too for fairness.

Frazzlefrazle · 18/03/2021 19:18

I know you're not asking about quinn however I have seen others comments about this name and just wanted to say I love this name and really wanted to use it for our 3rd. I wish I had put my foot down. I'm not sure about the lengthened pippa names but your others are lovely. Congrats.

maddiemookins16mum · 18/03/2021 19:18

I’m confused.

CeibaTree · 18/03/2021 19:19

@Spied

Yes, they are a little ridiculous and dd will be miffed she didn't bag 'Quinn. Ophelia nn Pippa is lovely with Quinn.
How do you get Pippa from Ophelia though? OP why don't you just use Phillippa if you want a long name for Pippa?
Slackarse · 18/03/2021 19:20

Pippilotta is Pippi Longstocking’s (Pippi Långstrump) ’real’ name. It’s a joke name. Please don’t use that.

@Koolandorthegang

Hi OP,

We seem to have very similar taste in names. Me and DP have a Quinn already and we like Felix for a boy and Eloise for a girl.

I love Ophelia nn Pippa and Audrey from your list. Some other girls names we like that you may like based on our similar taste:

Stella
Louisa
Dylan
Olivia

My Mum is a Stella! We almost went with that to name one of the twins after her but wondered if it clashed too much with our eldest, Arabella, who we usually call Belle.

Audrey! Such a pretty name

Quin and Audrey, very nice.

MumofSpud · 18/03/2021 19:21

Am curious though why didn't you use Quinn for one of your DS?

Quinn and Pippa
Quinn and Audrey
Quinn and Eloise

I think Pippa works the best as it seems more modern

SwanDaisySwan · 18/03/2021 19:22

@twinmama2021 Yes, I think so too. To me your existing children’s names sound typically English whereas Audrey and Quinn sound American - but seeing you are moving back to the US that’s quite a nice reflection of your family’s journey.

DancesWithDaffodils · 18/03/2021 19:24

I'd go for Pippa or Eloise (or better still Pippa and Eloise for the twins).
Audrey is lovely, but you might make admin easier if the kids all have different initials, so Arabella has already claimed the A.

gottakeeponmovin · 18/03/2021 19:24

Maybe they don't use the word quim in the US. Quinn the twin and quim would steer me away from that on.

MrMucker · 18/03/2021 19:25

Let's not forget how any girl with a name beginning with Pippi is obliged to tolerate smirks at customs when returning from any of the seventy six thousand countries on the planet where Pippi means "Piss".
That notwithstanding yeah, gorgeous name, what could go wrong?

PraiseTheSunshine · 18/03/2021 19:25

Quinn and Audrey are nice. Pippalotta is a no from me though, sorry

wewereliars · 18/03/2021 19:25

Pippa is nice, the made up versions, just no. I once knew a Tilly, short for Othiley which I think is very pretty and Ithink goes with the other names.

drumandthebass · 18/03/2021 19:25

Please say you're joking? Its like chipolata

MagicSummer · 18/03/2021 19:26

Awful - how about Penelope?

FritataPatate · 18/03/2021 19:26

Yes

CovidHalloween · 18/03/2021 19:27

Peppa and Eloise. The rest need to go especially Quinn and pippilotta.
Please don’t call her pipi.

S111n20 · 18/03/2021 19:28

I like Audrey and think it goes lovely with Quinn.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/03/2021 19:29

How about Pippalittla?

BreakfastClub80 · 18/03/2021 19:30

I think you’ve decided but I would be careful of Eloise if you call your daughter Arabella, Bella? Most Eloise’s I know are shortened to Ella.

My other suggestion would be Edie, though I’m not sure if it’s short for anything.
