anyone else think mn aint friendly anymore?

i feel it aint the same it used to be.too cliquey. i tried to offer wee bit of help and advice earlier to other mnetter and basically got ignored, but when another one of the clique offered advice she was all, thanks yous and asking how she was.
no gratitude these days

thanks dior. i have been on here for quite a few months now, i am on most days. i have posted a few threads asking for advice but only get a couple of replies. i feel if i was one of the cliquey ones i would have loads of replies. same when i posted pic of my dd, i think i only got 5 replies about her, one of the regulas would get loads of replies of, isnt she so cute, etc etc.

sorry try and cool down a bit now

any way how you tonight. my d is tucked up in bed and my house looks like a bombs hit it, but oh well

How can you take it personally? If you're not as well known, you're not as well known. It's not a personal snub if you dont get as many posts as someone else. Doyou really count replies?

Dont stress about it. It's natural for people to chat more with people they "know" better.. Just get in there and post!

dont know how it used to be, havent been coming that long. there is an established group of people who obviously 'know' one another well and have a history. sometimes you get talked to, sometimes you get ignored/overlooked. dont think its personal or anything, just that people naturally 'talk' more to people they already know. like dior says, you get a better response when your name is recognised.
(or, if you REALLY want a response, post something really offensive, and i guarantee everyone will talk to you!!!)

scottish mum - When you posted your piccie you got good responses! Dont take it personally because you got 5! That is good! I posted here before and had no replies - but it is so fast moving that threads get missed, so dont take it personally x

Sometimes I've posted and had 3 replies, sometimes I've posted and had 300. It depends more on whether people feel they have anything constructive to offer, rather than that it's cliquey. It also depends on the time and day that you post - if it's a slow time then you'll get less response than if it's busy.

I have been on here for about 6 months, I really connect with some people, that is I like the essence/spirit of the person, it comes across on screen... others I like and get on well with, but dont connect with, so to speak.

This whole clique thing is a crock............sorry but it is.

If you are one here a lot you meet people.

I have to say the very late night shift is often the best fun.

There are no cliques, just meetings of minds and in some cases values.

hello scottishmumto1 - I don't really look at profiles either so wouldn't have seen you there.

There are lots of people here at different times of day and it's a bit like being anywhere that's crowded you can't chat to everyone and it's hard to remember much about people unless you bump into each other often, which eventually happens if you find someone you seem to have a little in common with.

I don't think a clique exists scottishmum. Obviously some people are matey and have been around for a while but remember that ultimately we're all on here because we're sitting home alone.
I think posting pictures of children is a little masochistic because obviously you will think along the lines of 'X got 15 replies to hers!' or whatever. Having said that,if I see that people post pictures,I do try and respond,primarily because all our babies are gorgeous..

Haven't been on for a few days though and must say that the nature of many threads gets me-sure it wasn't this choolgirlish a while back.
There seem to be several recurrent themes

  1. Which MNer do you love?
  2. What do you know about me?
  3. I am going to tell you something rather unsavoury but because this is a parenting forum,anything less than 100% unconditional support will not go down well at all.

I never look at profiles. I also think maybe more people do what I do and just visit certain sections rather than active convo so don't pick up on a lot and bump into the same people a lot.

I do not believe in cliques.........

If connecting with some people as opposed to others is cliquey then bring it on.

I came on here for support a few weeks ago, a departure for me as I normally try and stay at the fluffy end, a lot of people posted, some of whom I had never "met", as a result we now have a connection.

This clique thing bores me.

Some people connect, Some people dont, just like RL.
