hrmph.

There's no gratitude these days.

SoupDragon · 05/06/2005 19:44

Has anyone been rude to her on this thread? I didn't think so. Why would she have to be brave to come back?

ScrewballMuppet · 05/06/2005 19:47

I was only away a few hours.
I hope this thread doesn't put you off scottishmumto1. People disagree and debate in all aspects to life but the point of mumsnet is still there.
As this thread has been going other threads giving and asking for advice have been too.
Take things with a pinch of salt, is my advice and some threads you'll find you can have a right life on; side splitting sometimes.

snafu · 05/06/2005 19:56

HappyMum, I was being facetious because I could see which way this thread was going. And it has.

what a suggestion cod!

snafu · 05/06/2005 19:58

Ooooh, that's okay - thought you meant HappyMum. I'm deffo in the market for ganging up on hinkerminker.

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 20:02

scottishmumto1, I think mumsnet is pretty much the same as its always been. I've been here from the very, very early days - could it have been nearly 4 years?
Don't think I fall into any clique & frequently don't hear anything back about my incredibly wise words of wisdom.
Everynow & then people seem to think it gets less friendly etc etc but I think it depends what threads you are posting on.
Anyhow, at least you can now say you've generated a whole thread!!!! And don't forget to personally thank every single poster on this thread for their response.

WideWebWitch · 05/06/2005 21:56

I haven't read the thread but I do think mumsnet has got less intelligent: the intellectual standard is lower imo. So I'm less addicted than I used to be because I'm just not intesrested in a percentage of threads. I suspect, from the lack of posts from certain posters, that I'm not the only one. This won't be a popular post but I don't care really!

snafu · 05/06/2005 22:03

Agree, www - I have found relatively easy to stay away recently. Although, perhaps hypocritically, the threads I have posted on have been almost exclusively the silly ones...ho hum.

oh, WWW, feel a bit sad now! You are right, in the dawn of mn time, it was alot more intellectual but pretty much on the same subjects as people still discuss now. I steer clear of alot of them now, because once you've done Gina Forde, breastfeeding vs bottle etc etc a few times you start to lose the will to live!!!
Too tired now - but lets have an intellectual discussion about something tomorrow. Brain too befuddled to even think of a subject now - but how about it?

moozoboozo · 05/06/2005 22:04

If you want intellectual discussion, why not start a thread?????

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 22:05

too befuddled by snafu & the bloody dulce de leche!!!!

snafu · 05/06/2005 22:05

That's v. true, bugsy. Gosh, I'm agreeing with everyone tonight, ina wimpy kinda way.

Now, where did I put my knickers? Ah, yes, on the fire...

WideWebWitch · 05/06/2005 22:11

Bugsy, you start a thread, I'll do my best to join in if I'm around! Ooh, I'm an intellectual snob, I admit it, eeek, I maybe wouldn't IRL. But I just don't care about an awful lot of stuff being discussed these days and I couldn't have said that even a year ago - I couldn't have stayed away if you'd have paid me! - and I could now, easily (I know, which begs the question 'why don't you?' well, I might, actually!) And I'm not the only one judging by the dearth of regulars atm.

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 22:13

Don't burn the house down - I imagine with knickers big enough to accommodate all that lard you've just packed away, could be quite a flammable situation!!!!
Off to bed - look forward to some serious discussions tomorrow. (Gently humourous - not taking the piss)

snafu · 05/06/2005 22:13

Good god, ww, you can't go. It's been bad enough not being able to say 'I agree with www' on every thread as it is!

snafu · 05/06/2005 22:14

Mmmmm, bugsy, I'm thinking it could be more than flammable.

It could be....inflammable!

Bugsy2 · 05/06/2005 22:15

WWW - that's a copout!!!! I'm far to absurdly blonde to come up with an intellectual discussion all by myself. Damn, won't be able to sleep now for trying to rustle up an intellectual thought.
