Now, now children. Be good aunty joash is just going to STUFF HER FACE WITH ANY AVAILABLE GRUB (in a very ladylike manner of course). Be nice to anyone who talks to you - and don't be cliquey

WideWebWitch · 05/06/2005 13:07

Hey Cod, are you saying Pph is pregnant? With no 4? Wow!

Carla · 05/06/2005 13:14

SM, all regular cliquey members do a snurk sometimes. You'll fit in

spacecadet · 05/06/2005 13:57

joash, i think you hit the nail on the head with ref to pat on the back threads, i quite often come on threads like these and joke that no one likes me etc, but thats all it, a joke, i post to offer advice or to rant etc, quite often i will be ignored and thats the way it goes, ive killed many athread too but would certainly not loseany sleep over it!

I'm quite sure that cod didn't mean me but I would agree that MN has changed a lot recently in terms of chavness - actually think all the photos on the members board have a lot to answer for because when you see a poster it doesn't tend to match the picture in your head from the posts - physically people conform to groups a lot more than they do mentally and there are certain kind of groups of people I don't feel that comfy with (and yes this is to do with personal expression in terms of style - the stuff that gives us our 'gang colours')

spacecadet · 05/06/2005 14:11

blimey if mumsnetters are chavs im outtta here!

Gobbledigook · 05/06/2005 14:13

I think people are just over analysing!!

Or should I really be upset that only GeorginaA replied to my 'bacon in lasagne for 9 month old' thread?

snafu · 05/06/2005 14:15

omg, so does this mean MN is going to turn into some kind of Crips v. Bloods gangland bloodbath, Mud? Crikey.

Mud · 05/06/2005 14:17

I am planning to dance down the street later this afternoon in a 'west side story' type of way myself

'could beeeeeeeeee
who knowssssssss
there's something due, any day, I will know right away soon as it showsssssssss'

tamum · 05/06/2005 14:17

I think a huge amount has to do with thread titles- if you have a thread title that is unusual or witty it draws people in, whereas "help with feeding" or something will tend not to get as many responses. Look at the one last week that started "I knw I'm going to be flamed for this but..." - everyone will have clicked on that out of sheer nosiness. It's not just responses to people, it's responses to subject matter that make a difference (disclamier: not that I'm suggesting that bacon in lasagne is in any way uninteresting GDG )

Tortington · 05/06/2005 16:27

i agree with cod its all gone pete tong - its the pinko liberal laura ashley types who buy the big issue yet rarely see it.

haven't read this thread .. can't be arsed .. but just saw last comment and have to ask .. how else can you determine 'chavness' if not from appearance

Its not like anyone gets to know people before saying 'oh they're a chav' .. they just see people (like in a photograph) and determine that person is a chav from how they look

that's why I agree that mumsnet was far better when there were no photos .. no kids demanding an 'oh aren't they cute / gorgeous / lovely', no member photos demanding a 'oh don't you look young / pretty / stylish' just pictures of bats

Twiglett · 05/06/2005 16:42

I think you kind of got it .. but feel free to do a google search on chav .. there are entire sites devoted to chav-dom .. check out chavscum for a starter

spacecadet · 05/06/2005 16:43

words of wisdom from my almost 14 year old dd, "I think its ridiculous the way people are put into different social groups, we all come into the world the same way, and leave the same way, so why do we all have to be labelled?"
