altin · 05/02/2008 10:18

deb: not sure what's happening. They confirmed she was booked for Junior and brought it forward a day but it seems now that they've put it on hold till half-term but that's not definite, either? It's all a bit AbFab if you ask me.

Also got an availability check for Felicity Wishes last Fri for this Fri, but haven't heard anything since. A lot seems to be happening without actually happening...

shrugs

dancerdeb · 06/02/2008 11:03

Altin hope it all comes together for you and dd, best wishes!

Thanks deb. Junior's on now. Monday at the Hilton Park Lane Presidential Suite, would you believe - sounds great, but seems all a bit swanky for a kids shoot. I wonder will Paris herself be on hand providing personal room service and fashion tips? (God forbid)

dh is taking dd as I'm away that day so let's hope they haven't got a free mini-bar or else I won't see him for a week!

julie4travel · 11/02/2008 22:04

altin - did dh meet paris today then? ha ha

we are awaiting on availability checks with junior yet i dont think it will come of.

altin · 12/02/2008 00:07

lol julie! No he didn't meet Paris, and he came home about 7pm so he can't have met the mini-bar either! He said the Junior people were v. nice and it seemed to go well. dd was modelling a sparkly Dior nummber, apparently, so I hope she makes it in to the mag as dh didn't bring home any souvenir piccies

julie4travel · 12/02/2008 08:48

altin - dior superb, my ds had roberto cavali (cant spell sorry) the clothes were a bit wacky for my liking! my ds pictures werent used in this months mag - funny thing is all along i thought his picture wouldnt be used even though they got the shots very quickly. never mind! did you find out what issue it should be in? hope they use your dss pictures

Rubystar77 · 12/02/2008 22:35

well done to altin's dd...
my dd2 didn't get picked for M&S fitting!!!
our contract is almost up and then its decision time!!!
who are you with altin?

julie4travel · 13/02/2008 08:29

rubystar77 - sorry it didnt come off
i would apply to other agents and then assess fees etc and then decide if you should stay or go. it could be the age group is quiet though with any agent.

Hopefully you will get the right agent for you.

tjacksonpfc · 13/02/2008 09:19

hi all i live in wiltshire and ive got a dd whos 3.7 and a ds who is 2.4 and was wondering how to get into the childmodelling as loads of people have commented on how photo genic they are is there any agencys around my way anyone knows of. thanks

altin · 13/02/2008 19:43

Rubystar: sorry to hear about M&S not happening.

dd is with Kids London. Re your situation from my - limited - experience:

I'm not sure if this is a reliable guide, but when I've been to castings and jobs most of the kids are from Kids London, Bruce & Brown, Urban Angels and MOT. One or two with Norrie Carr and Elizabeth Smith. I don't recall any others. If I'm not mistaken Carr and Smith charge a hefty up-front fee, but they are very good I'm told. When I was applying Smith wanted to charge another fee on top just to interview dd and ds, so I told them in no uncertain terms where to go. Ridiculous.

I'm sure others have said this, but try the agencies that charge nothing or very little up-front (like the four above) first. Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but because they're not charging, they'll be confident of getting your kids work if they take them on. They don't operate as a charity at the end of the day If they say no, then try the good ones that do charge.

Steer clear of the scam merchants who work the hotels as well as magician's assistants like McGee trading on former tv glories now doing pantomine. You'll like it. Not a lot.

Good luck, ruby!

Tj,most agents are in Lonon,so you must be prepared to travel,we live on the south coast and dont get the last minute jobs as we to far away so you may get less work but send some snaps to some of the agents mentioned on this thread and if your kids are accepted the agents will answer your questions gd luck
