NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: “Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our pull up pants now have the magical absorbing tubes so we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint."

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
2 years old, we tried size 5.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Great, I really liked them. They had a good fit and were soft and comfy looking. There was nothing to dislike.

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes I would.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Definitely, they were really good quality for the price.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
We normally use Pampers and I'd say these were almost comparable in terms of quality, so seeing as they're under half price it's a no brainer. We've tried Aldi and Waitrose own and they both resulted in soreness.

Thank you for the trial.

  1. my son is 2.5 years old, we used size 6
  2. We all liked the design on the pants, also liked that they weren't too bulky before wearing. They were comfortable on my DS and didn't leave elastic impression marks when taking them off but kept him dry and comfortable.
  3. Would recommend to a friend.
  4. would definitely consider buying in the future. 5)Have tried both Lidl and Pampers and would say they were both on par for dryness but obviously Lidl have the more attractive price tag. I would happily recommend and buy these again and use them in the future.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
I used them on my son who is due to turn 3 at the end of this month.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants?
What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked the pants. I liked that they were all in one and that there were no sticky tabs to pull or fall open in the night. They felt really soft and were easy to pull on and off.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    I would probably recommend them.

  2. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes I would buy the in the future.

  3. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
They were comparable to other brands in terms of dryness and leakage. I have no complaints and they did what they said they would do.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My DS is 2 and a half years old and we tested size 5.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

We really liked how soft the pull ups where, how easy they where to get on and of during changes. My DS also suffers from eczema and we find many nappy's make it worse. We found he didn't react to these nappy's. Don't have anything bad to say about them.

We also liked that they weren't bulky and fit well.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes and have recommended to a friend to buy.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes we will be swapping to this brand as they are almost comparable to the brand we currently use but half the price.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

The quality of these nappy's compare a lot like are current brand of nappy's. I didn't have to change DS to often and he didn't leak once. Great value for the price.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? - 2 years 5 months & we used size 5+, which fit well.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I didn't like how easily they fell apart when trying to pull them up and down for the potty!

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Probably not, they weren't as durable as huggies pull ups, for potty training. See above.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? No. For the reason above.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? In terms of dryness and leakage they were good, although my son only wee'd a couple of times in them

totorostoes · 17/05/2018 12:14
  1. My Toddler is 19 months and we use size 5.

  2. i wanted to trial pull ups as my toddler has got to the stage where he does not want to stop play time to have his nappy done and would at times put up quite the fight! Using pull ups meant I could quickly complete a nappy change and he could be on his way! I did find the rip sides quite hard to rip in comparison to another pull up brand i have tried. They also seemed quite narrow at the top, I have a slim child so wasn't an issue but a bit more stretch would be appreciated!

  3. I think I would definitely recommend pull ups but i'm not sure I would recommend lidl pull ups specifically. I don't think the 20 nappies I received allowed me to use them long enough (4 days) to be able to recommend to others.

  4. If I lived near to a Lidl and needed some pull ups I would buy them, however I do not like them enough to go out of my way to make a special trip to buy them. I think they may be more suitable for my little boy as he is older and nearing potty training though.

  5. I have had a positive result re:leakage. He will at times leak overnight if he sleeps in, however on the 4 nights he used them, we suffered no leaks.

sarahja99 · 17/05/2018 12:35
  1. 23 months Size 5
  2. We thought they were great. Liked everything about them. Soft, comfortable and absorbent.
  3. Definitely
  4. Yes nicer than our usual brand (Aldi) and same price
  5. Usually use Aldi and these were softer, more comfortable and preformed slightly better on absorbency compared to their pull ups.

All round big thumbs up from this household, my husband thought I had splashed out on a more premium brand than usual!

LeleWilliams789 · 17/05/2018 12:37

Totally loved them. Tried so many pull up nappies that only ones I like that fit well are pampers but these are brilliant. The design is so similar but they feel softer and fit nicer. I love them will definitely buy them

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Loved them great fit

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Yes I would recommend before others

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? My child is 2 and we used a size 5
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I was really impressed with the pull ups, they seemed comfortable, and they didn’t leak.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would definitely recommend these pull ups.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? I’ll be switching from pampers to lidl
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? There wasn’t any leakage and they seemed softer on the inside than pampers.
MyKingdomForBrie · 17/05/2018 13:01

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
She’s 19 months and I used size 5 as that’s what we use in pampers.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall impression was good. They seemed fairly similar in performance and feel to the pampers. They were nice and soft.
Only problem was the fit - they seemed to come up smaller than the pampers 5 so I would need to buy a 6.
3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes I would, I’d say they were fine.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes I would, as they were perfectly good for the job, assuming that the 6 were a good fit for her.
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
Didn’t have any issues with leakage, even over night. Her skin felt relatively dry when removing a wet nappy.

Schumann · 17/05/2018 13:06
  1. Age 3 and size 5
  2. they were absolutely fine, no leaks. Only thing I didn't like was that sides were very hard to rip off.
  3. yes
  4. probably not because of the side ripping problem. It's tricky when the nappy is full!!
  5. compares absolutely fine in term of dryness and leakage
VileyRose · 17/05/2018 14:27

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Age 4 and size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Loved them. So soft but a bit plain

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Absolutely

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I will buy again. Excellent value.

  2. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

No problems with leakage.

MacNcheese87 · 17/05/2018 14:52
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
We used the nappies at 10 months and they were size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
All of the lupilu nappies I've tried have been very soft, much softer than any other brand I've tried. We really like this. I have a wriggly, crawling baby and I wanted to try pull ups instead of taped nappies but it was very hard to use on a baby who can not stand up. Having said that, we preferred the pull up nappies when the weather is hot and a vest wasn't needed. We were having a lot of (poo) leaks up the back without a vest, but these pull up nappies fit more snug around the waist than taped nappies and we had no leaks.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would recommend them if the baby could stand or take weight on their feet. I would definitely recommend them for anyone not using a vest.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I will be keeping a pack available for the warmer weather to avoid leaks from tapped nappies. I will consider buying them more regularly once my baby can stand and/or take more interest in helping me change her.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
No leakage and didn't notice any wetness so these have really impressed us. Lupilu are now our preferred brand.

newmumwithquestions · 17/05/2018 15:54
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Size 5 tried on both my nearly 2.5 yo and just over 3.5 yo daughters

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really good. My 3.5 yo is dry during the day but seems to hold her wee until she goes to bed (don’t ask, a separate issue!) so needs one that’s super absorbent. She has had 2 leaks with these pull ups in 3 weeks of using - that’s good - no nappies have performed as well. And it’s a lot better than Asda pull ups have performed for us.

They have worked well for my nearly 2.5 yo. 1 nighttime leak in 3 weeks use - they are slightly large for her (but a 4 would be too small). They even contained a poo explosion one night.

I’d like a bigger pack size. I don’t know if this is just the stock at my local Lidl but I’d like to bulk buy them for economy - they only do a 24 ish pack yet do boxes of nappies.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I already have done!
I find pull ups better at containing leaks and easier to use (I have a relative who occasionally babysits who really struggles with normal nappies) but am usually put off by the price. These are decently priced so I think worth the extra.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Better than Asda, can’t really comment on any others.

SparklyMagpie · 17/05/2018 16:01
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My son is 2 and we used size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I found them very easy to put on thanks the very stretchy side's, when I have used pull up pants in this past, I have found they haven't given much give but these were perfect. My son also loved the bears design on them and called them his bear pants
The only dislike I have is that I found they didn't rip as easily when removing them, but that is only a very minor thing

  2. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I definitely would yes, and I have already been recommending them when conversations pop up

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

We actually got through our pack quite quick and was so impressed I have since been going to Lidl to purchase more.
Not only have I found these the best pull up pants on the market ( and I have used a lot of other supermarket pull ups) they are by far the cheapest! My local store sells these packs for £2.04 and that makes my purse happy also
Excellent value for such a little price

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Having tried other brands I have found the main issue I've had is my son tends to leak quite easy and doesn't feel likes he's had much support, other brands we have tried have either been too stretchy or to stiff. With the Lupilu pull up pants they are stretchy but have fit him perfectly and have yet to have a single leak! He says they're very comfortable and the dryness has been the best by far compared to other brands we have used

Thank you for selecting us for the product test, it has made a massive difference to me and DS

tissuesosoft · 17/05/2018 17:37
  1. DD is 2 years and 3 months, we used size 6 pull ups
  2. They were great! DD could easily pull them down for using the potty, they didn’t leak, the bottom side didn’t move around when she was, they were soft and looked comfortable. DD was in hospital for half the trial and they were fantastic and so easy to use, could change her quickly, she could sit in her nappy (boiling hot room) and wasn’t trying to pull it off- usually she does with regular nappies and she’s feeling hot.
  3. I would definitely recommend them to a friend, the majority of my friends have similar aged toddlers.
  4. I would definitely use again, I hadn’t considered Lidl nappies before. Nor tried pull ups and these seem to be completely fit for purpose.!
  5. I haven’t tried pull ups before. But have tried nappies from Sainsbury’s, Tesco and ASDA. The Lidl pull ups are definitely softer and dryer than the Sainsbury’s and ASDA ones!
SweetPeaPods · 17/05/2018 21:15
  1. DS2 is 3 and we tested size 5.
  2. We really liked them. They were lovely and soft and ds2 enjoyed wearing them. However the only negative is that they seemed smaller than our usual brand so I would probably size up.
  3. Yes definitely
  4. Yes they were good
  5. They were equally as effective but at a better price (and softer too).
mrsnoon · 17/05/2018 21:32
  1. 3 years 2 months, we tested the size 6.
  2. Really liked them, much softer than other brands. Neutral design and easy to get on and off.
  3. Yes definitely.
  4. Already have although I've found it difficult to get to a Lidl around doing extra hours at work (nearest branch is 30 mins drive away) but my mother in law had been picking them up with her shopping.
  5. Just as good as other premium brands at a much more purse-friendly price. Had one leak but once we realised why we were able to make sure it didn't happen again. Really really pleased.
baby410 · 18/05/2018 02:05
  1. 2.5 years. Size 6
  2. They were lovely and soft and we didn't have any leaks. Not too bulky.
  3. Yes I would recommend them.
  4. Yes I would buy them again depending on price. They worked just as well as my usual brand.
  5. My son was kept dry all night in these so they worked just as well as my usual brand
JayDylan · 18/05/2018 09:04
  1. My LO is 16 months and I used the size 5 junior smart pants.
  2. nice and soft with no leaks. LO couldn't tell the difference
  3. yes definitely
  4. yes I would. Good value for money and no leakage
  5. They provide the same dryness and non leakage as my current nappies and are more value for money
Elpheba · 18/05/2018 22:19
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
DD is 2y1 month and we used size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall I was impressed by them. They were easy to get on and off and held urine well. DD didn't seem to notice they were different in anyway from the pampers we usually use.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes, and already have done!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, we have a Lidl near by but I had been put off using them after finding some cheaper nappies leaked when DD was tiny. These worked the same at a fraction of the price.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
Equal to pampers and therefore makes sense to use them as far cheaper.

accepting · 19/05/2018 04:46

Used size 6 for my 5 year old child

I was very impressed with the overall quality and would happily purchase them regularly from aldi for the long term.

Most mums have purchased size 5 or 6 regardless of their child age...therefore i propose aldi get rid of their smaller sizes and make size 7 and 8...as so many older & larger children can benefit from them too!

Hughpughbarneymagrew · 19/05/2018 08:23
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

2 years old, used the size 6 (XL). Here's not actually up to the weight recommendation for size 6, but we always use a 6 overnight with any brand as he's a heavy wetter and we find this works best for us.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Absolutely loved how soft these are. My toddler has bad eczema and gets very itchy around the waistband of any nappy. The elasticated section of these pull ups is the softest I've seen yet, and I've tried most supermarket and premium brands. I had some Pampers in the house and felt then side by side, the Lupilu nappy is definitely kinder to skin. For that alone if look for these again.
Overall I thought these were a great nappy.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. I usually buy either Aldi or Pampers, I think these are slightly better than either of those brands.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Great. No nappy rash or leaks and we were using these as overnight nappies.

doghairinmytea · 20/05/2018 20:55
  1. DS 23 months in size 5 pull ups
  2. Overall, very impressed- DS they were soft and not too bulky. They also had the tab to wrap them up when finished. Some pull ups do not have this.
  3. Yes
  4. Yes, much better that Aldi pull ups
  5. Great, no redness or rashes and DS can be quite sensitive
