NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: “Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our pull up pants now have the magical absorbing tubes so we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint."

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I wasn't expecting a great quality if I am honest, but I have been pleasantly surprised, they are soft, great design and strong.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definitely, I already have.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes I would, as I was happy with the results.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Age 3 - XL pull up pants

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They looked / felt different to other brands we have used - I wondered if the plain-ness of them was a temporary thing (because they are being tested) ?? If not and that's how they come, I think my DS would prefer ones with a picture / character / colours on though not really a big deal. I did like them and they did the job which is more important!

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes I would - no reason not to.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes if they were prices right.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
We had no problems with them so I guess they are at least on a par with other brands.

Thanks for letting us test them!

vickyors · 04/05/2018 16:30
  1. She's 2. We had size 6.
2) actually I was quite impressed. They were easy to pull on and off for my daughter. We were actually starting potty training when we got them, and she was happy to wear them, particularly at night, when normal nappies she refused. The only thing I would say I wasn't as convinced by was the sides did seem 'very' elasticated and might be tight on a chubbier child.. 3) Yes, actually I would. 4) Yes, I do plan to, as they're really good at night. 5) As good for absorbency as pampers, but the sides were quite off putting in comparison with them..
agnelcarol · 04/05/2018 18:03

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? My youngest is a year old and my toddler is 3. I used size 5 on both, as my youngest is a little "big", bless her!
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I loved the Pull Up Pants!! They were easy to put on and remove, comfortable to wear, did not leave any uneasy red pressure marks on my children and have amazing absorption power!! The could be more attractive/colourful, but they do a great job as is. No leaks experienced!
3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? You bet, I will!! They're amazing!
4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? I would most definitely buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in future for the simple reason that they are a great product and at a very economical price! There are other "branded" products in the market, much more expensive than Lidl Pull Up Pants, but don't do half a good job as these.
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? In terms of dryness, could do better, but it isn't bad right now, just that my children had slightly damp skin when removed (especially if they had just had a go). In terms of leakage - haven't experienced any - and I can confidently say Lidl Pull Up Pants are much more effective than other leading brands as I've experienced many leaks with other more famous brands.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? yes
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? yes good leak protection
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? better than some brands
greystripedteepee · 04/05/2018 22:38
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 3 years old
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I liked the simple design (eg no arguing about having princess or elephant nappy as no pictures). Don't need the sticky tab on larger nappies and don't really need the colour strip to show it is wet. I like the elastic waist.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes because they are great value and we're excellent- no leakages.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? 18m, size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
We loved them. I was worried they may not be a close enough fit but they were great. Easy to put on, super comfy, loved them. No negatives to report. They stood up to overnight wees, teething poos, the works!

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Easy to use, good value, comfy

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage
I much prefer them to pampers. I hate the smell of pampers and they are too expensive.

ParrotPudding · 05/05/2018 12:12

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
We used them with our son, who is 2.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? We were shocked! The quality really is brilliant, extremely soft and stretchy.

  2. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes, and have done so multiple times.

  3. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes. Very reasonably priced and know that there is no compromise on the quality.

  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? As shocking as it is, we felt the Lupilu were actually a bit better fitting and more absorbent than our usual brand. It was such a brilliant surprise!
We were really so happy with them... we are Lidl converts now!

AveEldon · 05/05/2018 15:14
  1. 21 months, size 5
  2. They were okay. I wasn't keen on the elastic string sides
  3. Probably not
  4. Probably not
  5. I think the dryness was good in comparison to other brands

They don't seem that much cheaper than Tesco tbh

libertysilk · 05/05/2018 21:34
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Child is 4, and used size 6.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? First impression was how soft and stretchy they are. Didn't dislike anything about them

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? 100% yes.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Absolutely. Soft, easy to put on, stretchy and absorbant.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? On par with other brands.

Charliejr16 · 05/05/2018 22:07
  1. My LO is 2.5yo and we used size 5.

  2. Very impressed, really soft and didn't react with my LO's sensitive skin. Very absorbent, my LO drinks a lot of water and we had no leakages or wetness!

  3. I would definitely recommend.

  4. I will definately be buying these again, we're in the beginning phase of potty training, other pull ups have leaked quite quickly and left my LO with a rash because they're not absorbent enoubh, whereas during the two weeks we tested these there were no leakages or rashes in sight.

  5. These pull ups were the best ones we've tried so far, no wetness or leakages thus leaving my LO rash free and dry. There were also no nasty wee smells. These were definately better than other brands!

Thank you for letting us test these, they've been a game changer for us!

AveAtqueVale · 05/05/2018 23:25
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
We used size six for my giant three year old.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They were lovely and soft and non-bulky. We only used at night as he’s out of nappies during the day, and they lasted and were leak-proof. I didn’t like the sticky tabs for rolling them as they didn’t peel very well.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes - good price, cheaper than our usual pampers!

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
Just as good as the pampers ones we normally use.

Amaksy · 05/05/2018 23:30
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? My LO is 2 years old and we used this during the night time instead of the dry nite pants as transitioning from nappy to pant.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Great new design it looked and felt light but was still absorbent over a long nights sleep. My son still felt dry and his skin did not react in areas he normally would around the thighs.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would recommend these Lidl pull ups as they are premium pants and are just as good even better than leading brands out there. Great quality and good value for money even when Pampers are on sale the Lidl ones still come in cheaper.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes I would buy the Lidl pull-ups as they are great value for money. They’re great for dryness, comfort and all round protection.
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Used the Lidl pants and did not notice any leakage after a nights wear. Great quality pull up pants that protects LO and lets him have an undustirbed sleep.
ohlittlepea · 06/05/2018 07:39

1)age 4 size 6
2) I liked that they felt soft and not too bulky.
3) Probably yes, they are great value for the price, and very absorbent, although didn't suit my daughter's skin for some reason.
4) I will try them with my new born, they are no different to premium nappies and so soft, absorbent and well structured.
5) I think they are the softest of any brand I've tried and have a lovely fit with the stretchy waist band, they are less bulky than aldi nappies and more absorbent than most brands I think. Unfortunately my daughter came out in a bit of a rash with them which was very mild and could be coincidence.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Nearly 3, we used size 5 and they fitted perfectly.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I loved the thick soft waistband, another brand we tried have a thinner waistband and roll down under the tummy. Lidl's pull-ups were comfortable and much better fitting.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Totally, did the job and very reliable.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, although probably for night time as my little girl now wants to wear pants during the day.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Even better, felt softer and more comfortable. I like the stretchy side more than the brand's with Velcro which can dig in.

pineapples56 · 06/05/2018 09:57
  1. 31 months, we used size 5.

  2. Overall impression was very good, didn't expect nappy pants could be so soft and still be strong enough to hold both heavy wees and poos. We tested them during night and day and didn't experience any leakages. My only minor dislike is the rip at the seams to take the nappy off - sometimes it was hard to find the point and just slightly harder work compared to regular nappy tabs.

  3. Would definitely recommend to anyone who was interested in using nappy pants. Good transition tool for moving towards pants.

  4. They do a good job and importantly my toddler seemed happy in them with no sign of irritation or rash around his bottom. Good value and quality so I would be happy to buy again.

  5. I've tried Pampers pull ups so for comparison I would say that Lidl's are just as good in terms of dryness and leakage. We didn't have any leaks and given how soft and comfortable these ones seemed, I'd prefer these Lidl pull up pants.

daniel1996 · 06/05/2018 10:59
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

3 and we used size 5.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I loved the thick soft waistband, new design it looked and felt light but was still absorbent over a long nights sleep, Very good quality as good as the market leader. There was nothing I disliked about them.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, and I gave my friend 2 to try, she loved them and is a convert too.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I would most definitely buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in future for the simple reason that they are a great nappu and at a great price! There are other "branded" products in the market, much more expensive than Lidl Pull Up Pants, and I thought these were just as good.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I like the stretchy side more than the brand's with elastic which can dig in. I found the Lupilu were actually a bit better fitting and more absorbent than my regular brand. It was such a fabulous finding
We were really so happy with them

CountessOfStrathearn · 06/05/2018 13:44

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

I was using them just overnight with my 3 year old and decided to use them as a transition from night time nappies. I'd hoped that once they ran out, she'd be ready to stop nappies etc overnight and she was! We used size 5.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Lovely and soft. Didn't leak as nicely fitting and stretchy. They tolerated being pulled up and down for loo trips fine without tearing.

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Definitely, if there was a Lidl close by.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Not tried any other pull up pants but definitely comparable in terms of quality to the Tesco nappies we were using before and they were much better for overnight use. And thank you, you've done yourselves out of a job because we were able to get rid of nappies at the end of the trial!

Cheekyandfreaky · 06/05/2018 13:44
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? My child is 3 and we tested size 6 pull up pants.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Leakproof, flexible and little one said they were comfortable. There was no pattern on mine so little one didn’t want to wear them sometimes as we have other colourful ones.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes, they are brilliant value and quality.
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They’re really good.
Cheekyandfreaky · 06/05/2018 13:45

Oh one thing though, the sticky thing to wrap them up after use wasn’t very good- often pulled away part of the nappy when you pull the strip.

GetOffTheFrog · 06/05/2018 16:59

DD is nearly 3 and a half. I used the XL pull ups.

Quite liked them but had 2 main reservations. (1) They leaked twice; this has never happened with either Tesco or Pampers pull ups. (2) They were really hard to rip apart at the side seams which was really annoying when changing a poo-filled nappy.

Yes I’d probably recommend them and would probably buy them, but I wouldn’t rave about them or go out of my way to seek them out in any way.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 06/05/2018 17:04
  1. Tested size 6 on DS who is nearly 2.
  2. Overall, I liked them. I have to admit that I wasn't too impressed at first - we've tried 'non-pampers' nappies before, which, although soft, get bulky and seem less absorbent. These coped very well and I think are almost as good as pampers.
I liked that they were soft and simple. The sticky tab was great for after use to wrap it up. I didn't like that the seams were very difficult to rip open when dealing with a poo, but the flip side of this was that DS wasn't able to tear them open himself and waste them.
  1. Yes, as a cheaper alternative to pampers. I don't think they're as good, but they're much better value for money.
  2. Yes. For daytime use only though. I'll stick with pampers for night time.
  3. Very good. As above - not as good as pampers, but much better value.
BumWad · 06/05/2018 20:30
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Age 2 size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I was really impressed with them they were similar to the pampers ones but the fit was actually better. I didn’t dislike anything

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes they are very good value

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They are on par. The fit was better though

tellmewhenitsover · 06/05/2018 21:38
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My son is 21 months and we tried the size 5 pull up pants

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The pants were very soft and looked comfortable and of good quality. They turned out to be a little too tight around his chubby thighs and left a red line.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, I would probably try the next size up.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I really liked the softness of the material, didn't have any leaks but I was nervous to try them overnight. They are better than the last supermarket brand I tried.

Ntinyn · 07/05/2018 05:49
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Used on 4 yo at night in XL.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were really soft and seemed comfortable. Like the sticky tab. We normally use pampers at night which have never leaked but these have so dislike the reliability.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    No, I wouldn't.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
    No.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
As above. Changing bed sheets is very annoying.
