NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: “Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our pull up pants now have the magical absorbing tubes so we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint."

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My child is 2 and tried size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Not overly impressed. They were plain white and a bit cheap looking. When ds wore them overnight his pyjamas smelled of wee in the morning so they must have leaked a tiny bit. On the plus side they felt nice and soft and were OK for daytime.

  1. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Probably not

  1. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

No because they leaked overnight.

  1. ow would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Not very good - they leaked. We don't have this problem with aldi pull ups, or with the old Lidl brand

I've noticed that some of the reviews above talk about the nappies having a print on the front - ours were plain white. I wonder if we were all sent the same kind?

Mrssampras · 03/05/2018 20:38
  1. age 2 1/2 only at night. Pull ups xl. 2.) liked the softness of the nappies, much better than the other brand I use. Felt much better on my dd skin. Didn’t like the purple tag, as Icouldn’t work out what it was! Also not sure about front and back, but that might be just me! 3.) yes would recommend 4.) yes would buy again 5.) fairly similar In terms of dryness.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yep, they’re as good as any other nappy I’ve tried and softer and a good price

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Definitely on a par with pampers and Aldi- I was impressed

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

2.5yrs size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really impressed. Very easy to fit, nice snug fit but not too tight that they would be uncomfortable. Super stretchy sides but without seams digging into the skin. The are nice a slim so not bulky under clothing.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Absolutely. Already gave. The one thing that really stands out to me is not only the price. You are getting excellent quality for your money but also the comfort factor and reliability that there won’t be leaks.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Definitely. Excellent quality for the price.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Much better than competitive brands that are much more expensive. The only downside to these pants are the ones I received were very blue and a bit boyish and to my little girl she wasn’t very impressed with this and nor was I really. Perhaps a more neutral colour could be used or you make separate boys and girls pants.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
23 Months, size 6 pull up pants

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Loved the thin pants. Good stretchiness. Good fit for my tall child. Liked the simplicity of the pants. Didn't particularly dislike anything,

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation
Definately. They get two thumbs up from me.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, in theory, if I happened to be in Lidl. However our nearest store is quite far away. Next time I'm there I'll be stocking up!

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
Comparable to other supermarket and leading Nappy brands. Absolutely impressed with the value for money on this product

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
15 months, size 5

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were extremely soft and I liked the little Lion motif. I loved the sticky tab on the back for folding and disposal - the first time I have seen this and I found it very effective. Perfectly absorbent and DD seemed comfortable in them. They were very easy to put on my very active and wriggly, nappy averse child.

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, for the softness and the sticky tab

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
They compare favourably to the one other brand I have tried. Much softer but just as absorbent

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 03/05/2018 21:15

2.5 and size 6

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were lovely and soft, felt very good quality. No leaks at all. No nasty chemical smell which I hate with the leading brand. I'll certainly be using them again.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? 100% yes

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I definitely will, we really liked them and I expect they'll be great value and worth going out my way to get.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
I think they stand up equally well in terms of dryness and leakage.

ncullinane · 03/05/2018 21:32

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? He's 2 years old and we tested the size 6 pull ups.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? 3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?* Yes I would definitely recommend to a friend of family member.*
4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?* I would be inclined to buy these again and have actually bought Lidl instead of Aldi the last time I shopped for nappies, they just suited our needs well.*
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? * We didn't experience any leaks or irritation with the Lupilu pull ups, they felt soft and looked comfortable on.*

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
2 and a half years (30 months) and size 6

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Good, soft and flexible. Not bulky, very absorbent. The only issue was the tab at the back. It was often unusable and difficult to pell in order to seal the nappy after use.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
They are good for the price so yes

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
No, I would spend a bit more for the convenience of the working sealing tab.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
    On par with pampers pants.

theshooglypeg · 03/05/2018 22:09
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Two, size 5.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I thought they were fine, they fitted OK and didn’t leak. I do prefer nappies that are a bit more biodegradable to minimise my terrible nappy environmental guilt.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would certainly say there’s nothing wrong with them, I wouldn’t be especially enthusiastic.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

If I happened to be in Lidl and needed pull ups I would, but I wouldn’t make a special trip to get them.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Fine, I’ve not had leakage with many brands I’ve tried.

SomeOtherDay · 03/05/2018 22:09
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Age 4, size 6 fitted well

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
We really liked them, they were so much softer than other pulll ups we’ve tried

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definitely

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, these were the most comfortable pull ups we’ve tried for dd and will definitely buy them again

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage
We had no problems with dryness or leakage, these were at least as good as all the other brands we’ve tried but so much more comfortable

Meinthecorner · 03/05/2018 22:20

esters - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? 5.5 year old size 6 pull ups
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Out of the packet they seemed fine. We only use them at night and unfortunately had two leaks. One epic one which meant stripping the bed and another which necessitated a PJ change.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? May be depends whether the child is a heavy wetter and/or used at night.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Possibly for my daughter who is drier at night than her brother
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Performed poorly in that respect.
Imgettingcheesefries · 03/05/2018 22:58
  1. She's nearly 3 and we tested size 6+
  2. They were very plain and not as 'interesting' to dd as some other nappies we've used, she likes to talk about there animals/colours/whatever on other ones. She did feel grown up having these instead of nappies though. They were easy to use and to tear the sides to come off and no leaks so I was impressed
  3. Yes I would, they were as good as other brands for a lot cheaper
  4. If I was in or near a Lidl store I would yes. They're definitely value for money
  5. There was no leakage at all, they did go saggy quicker than nappies but I think that could just be due to them being a bit bigger than a size 6+ nappy
Summergarden · 03/05/2018 23:52
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Age 3 and we used size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants?
What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked the good fit and that the sides were hard to rip or accidentally fall down.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes, I would.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, because they performed as well as more expensive branded ones I have bought.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
They compare just as well to branded ones I have bought in terms of performance but are better value.

cranky · 04/05/2018 07:28
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Age 2 and size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

easy to put on and easy to remove. Easier than putting traditional nappy on a wriggly toddler especially for those with reduced dexterity.
I did find they could sag a little by the end of use as the absorbent material is all lower down so pulled on the waist band unlike a nappy where the absorbency is more spread.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes

4)Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?*
Yes if I was shopping in Lidl or decided to move on to nappy pants and couldn't get them as cheap in my usual shop.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I haven't tried any pull up pants before this but they're as good leakage wise as any others i have tried- occasional leaks.
SnugglySnerd · 04/05/2018 09:19

I tested them with my 4 year old DD who is not yet dry at night. We used the largest size.

My first impression was that they looked soft and comfy. I wasn't sure what the little plastic tag on them was for and it wasn't obvious which way round they went.
They didn't leak and I was impressed at first but unfortunately the stretchy parts at the sides made DD's eczema flare up really badly and she's had to put steroid cream on. I was disappointed as these are good value and I would have bought them if it were not for this.

Yes I would recommend as they are much better value than other brands and also don't leak overnight which other supermarket brands do.

BeyondParody · 04/05/2018 09:47

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

He is six, and we used size six

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

It was great, right up until the end of the trial. They didn't leak, kept the bed dry, and fitted DS well. Sadly right at the end ds said "my bums been sore" so I had a look and he'd had an allergic reaction to them. :( Hadn't told me any sooner, and not being a baby I hadn't been checking his bum!

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely, though when I recommended them to my sister I did point out that ds had a reaction as her DS has very sensitive skin

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

No, cause DS is the only child I have in pull-ups or nappies. I would buy them if buying for someone else though.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Brilliant, didn't have a problem at all on that front. They compared equally with the Aldi/Asda pants we usually use, and much better than pampers or any of the 'dry night' kind of pants

CumbrianExile · 04/05/2018 12:45
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Age 3.8 and used size 6 (night time only).

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I thought they were great. Soft and easy to use and no leaks on heavier nights. DS found them comfortable, but a bit plain (seems we got the ones without a design on them). It was a bit difficult to tell front from back, and I didn't realise what the tab was for until I read some of these reviews - I think thats a great idea and wish I had realised while using them!

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Absolutely - yes I would.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes, do the job perfectly and I would imagine a good price.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? As I said above, we had no leaks and they seemed to keep DS dry. I would say they compare to other brands I have used.

Thanks for letting us try them Smile

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?Excellent, only a couple of leaks but he's very skinny.

GirlfromMars10 · 04/05/2018 13:51

1). Nearly 3 years old and tested size 6/XL/6
2). I thought they were lovely and soft. I quite liked the plain design - it felt quite grown up. The sizing was accurate and the fit good and we had no leaks (although didn't test at night). On the down side, I didn't see the point of the wetness indicator at this age. Also they were sometimes difficult to tear off when changing. Like other nappy pants I've tried they do seem to form a bit of a hanging bulge (sorry!) when wet, but that's not Lidl specific.
3). Yes, if it came up in conversation.
4). Maybe. I don't live close to a Lidl so it's not convenient.
5). In terms of performance, I'd say pretty identical.

DesignedForLife · 04/05/2018 13:52

    20 months, size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Felt nice, not too bulky. Very absorbent for wee.
However the outside caused my son to break out in eczema where the top of his legs met the nappy. We also had 4 major poo leakages which were so bad we had to hose him down in the shower.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    No

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
    No

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and
Felt nicer, absorbed more wee, but weren't a good fit for DS as shown by poo leaks.

DesignedForLife · 04/05/2018 13:54

Should say we never have leaks with our normal brand -Asda

princessbear80 · 04/05/2018 13:57
  1. Son is age 2, we used size 5. Felt a little small compared to other size five nappies we use (tesco, Aldi) but bigger than pampers.
  2. overall impression - good nappies, no leaks even over night. They were slightly harder to pull apart to get them off compared to pampers, which are the only other pull ups we’ve used.
  3. Yes I would recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation.
  4. I would buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again.
  5. Just as good as other brands overall. I’d just buy a bigger size than usual.
