NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: “Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our pull up pants now have the magical absorbing tubes so we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint."

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Alex is 18 months old, and we used sized 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I was impressed with the amount It held without leaking. I thought that the little tab at the back to roll up the nappy could be bigger in width and length, also it could be made easier to rip the nappy at the sides.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation!
Yes, I would recommend Lidl pull ups. In fact I already have.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, I am off to buy a pack today. They are brilliant. Also when my son isn’t wearing a vest, we find that normal nappies tend to Fall apart where their isn’t a vest to hold it in place. So we use the pull ups more in the hotter weather as it’s easier to
Keep on him when he’s just wearing shorts.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
We found that pampers nappies leaked, and that hugging pull-ups didn’t hold well before splitting, where Lidl’s one were find all round.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

He is 3 and we tried size 6

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I found it hard to tell front and back! But they were very soft and flexible.

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, they did the job as well as pampers. I prefer nappies though and find them more reliable and absorbent.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Possibly as nursery want him in pull ups but as I said I prefer nappies a bit.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

About the same.

He is 4 and a half, wears pants in bed and we tried the xl size.
The bag we got was completely plain. Just white, no pictures, no anything except the strip of sellotape and the wetness indicator line. I did think that the wetness indicator was a bit superfluous in the pants as I knew they would be wet in the morning however ds liked the wetness indicator as he wanted yellow pants in the morning, not blue. He was however mightily hacked off because they didn't have pictures on them. I was drawing smiley faces with sharpies at one point. As for actually using them they worked as well as the current size 7 pants he wears and were identical in size. Yes, we did have a few soaking wet beds in the morning where they had leaked however that happens with his current brand of pants anyway.
  1. I already have done so. Libero size 7 pants are stupidly expensive (think 30 quid for 4 bags of 18) and have the word diaper scrawled all over the bag so I have been suggesting the LIDL pants as an alternative that works just the same for a fraction of the price.
  1. See number 3. Although getting to LIDL is a pain in the are at the moment as the road is closed so probably not straight away
  1. Just as good as libero 7's
PashleyB · 07/05/2018 18:22
  1. he is 2, size 6 and we were using them for night times
  2. The pants were soft and flexible and much less rigid than other nappies. The wetness indicator was superflous with an older child.
  3. yes. Price compared to something like huggies trainer pants (which are exhorbitant) was great.
  4. No. But only because we are reliably dry at night now so no more nappies. Hooray! In other circumstances, yes.
  5. great value. Vastly superior to aforementioned huggies. Dryness/leakage about the same
blackteaplease · 07/05/2018 20:48
  1. We tested size 6 on a 2.5 year old.
  2. First impressions were good, soft and handy sticker for rolling up. The wetness indicator was a bit point less for an older child.
  3. I would recommend
  4. I did switch as a result of the trial due to price but they have given economic an eczema flare up on his tummy where he has never had it before. And also I have noticed that there is little elastic so they fall down after a wee.
  5. I would say compatible with other supermarket brands but pampers just wins on the elastic and lack of eczema.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
    18 months old I used size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I did them. The fit was ok, although I did think they could have been a bit on the small size. They did leak poo once.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes because they’re great value and the absorbancy is good.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes but I would size up

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
I have to say I didn’t find them quite as good as pampers but they were as good as asda own pull ups. They’re much much cheaper than pampers tho and since my son has pretty predictable pop times I use them for staying dry which I found they were great for

scrivette · 07/05/2018 22:16

nicemarmot · 07/05/2018 22:49
  1. DS is 3 & we got a pack of size XL
  2. I liked the softness, noticeably softer than any other nappy I’ve used. The fit was great too, very generous. My only slight dislike was the lack of design or picture on them which would help DH know the difference between front & back!
  3. Yes, I would recommend these.
4). I would buy these again if they were a good price. I normally buy nappies rather than pull ups as they’re cheaper.
  4. I usually have zero brand loyalty when it comes to nappies as I’ve never encountered wetness leaks so usually just go with whatever is cheapest at the time. DS has had a few poo leaks lately with other nappies as he gets bigger & others don’t offer such a generous fit. I was very impressed however with how the Lidl pull ups fitted around the legs & avoided any leaks.
LastOneDancing · 08/05/2018 10:30
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? DS is just 2, size 5
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They we're very soft with a cute design. They fitted ok, and went on easily.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes, they we're comparable to Pampers but cheaper. I intend to buy some for potty training & overnight when dry in the day.
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Better than Aldi, as good as Pampers; but I still only trust normal nappies (aldi at present) overnight!
ruthspo · 08/05/2018 10:33
  1. My son is 20 months and we used size 5
  2. I was very impressed with the pants, they did everything that we needed. They were a good fit and felt snug without rubbing, and did not leak, even overnight.
  3. Yes, I would recommend them
  4. Yes I would as I think they suit my purpose
  5. In terms of dryness and leakage, I think they are as good as the leading brand and maybe even better than other supermarket brands

TheMendedDrum · 08/05/2018 18:24

DC is 18 months and we tried 5+ pull-ups. I really like the design and the sticky tab for wrapping up. And the nappy was soft in that it didn't give my DC a rash or rub or anything. But overall I found it a bit plasticy. Which is odd because other Lidl nappies (not pull ups) I find super soft.

Definitely good value. But I'm not sure I'd buy the pull ups again, whereas I definitely buy the normal nappies.

  2. We liked everything about them. Very soft, no leakage at all despite a couple of awful nappies, slim looking and comfortable, and kept her dry.
  3. Would recommend.
  4. Yes I would buy them if I had a nearby store. They are as good as the leading brand I currently use.
  5. These are as good as the leading expensive brand I use, for leakage and dryness. I have tried others before but never found any that I would change to- I would change to these.
Goingovertosusanshouse · 09/05/2018 10:53

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? We used the XL size for a 3 year old boy at bedtimes.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I liked the plainness of them and the tab at the back, however, this was easy to actually pull off rather than seal the pull up.
3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes definitely, they kept ds dry and the fit was excellent.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

  1. Five years old Size 6
  2. My son leaked regularly in these and he had a rash all over his bum. He couldn’t tear the sides himself to get it off and the sticky tab to fold nappy didn’t work.
  3. No
  4. Not if they are like this
  5. I normally use Lidl or Aldi pulll ups.... the samples I used were awful.

DrMumMum · 11/05/2018 21:46
  1. 2 years 2 months. Size XL.
  2. I absolutely LOVED them. I find most supermarket pull ups to be hard and the fabric rustles. The Lidl nappies were super soft (more akin to Pampers) and the elastic was lovely and soft too. I liked the wetness indicator. Absorbancy was similar to Pampers. I'm struggling to find anything negative to say about these nappies but there were a couple in the pack where the sticky tab at the back didn't pull out properly when it came to rolling them up at disposal.
  3. Absolutely and I already have!
  4. Yes. I don't have a Lidl close to me but if I ever pass one I will pop in and stock up on these nappies. I spend a lot of money on Pampers nappies because they are soft and absorbent. These tested nappies were every bit as good and presumably much cheaper.
  5. Better than Aldi and Co-Op as softer and nicer elastic. As good as Pampers for absorbency and slightly better as they have a wetness indicator. My favourite nappies so far (and I've tried lots!)
llewejk · 11/05/2018 21:47
  1. 5 size 6 (night time only)
  2. They were amazing. Comfy fit and no leaks
  3. Yes
  4. Yes definitely and I already have. So cheap.
  5. I actually think they are better. Had leaks with the leading brand of pull ups.
Aftereights91 · 12/05/2018 07:23
  1. my little boy is 23 months old and used the size 5 pull ups.
  2. first impressions were great, they fit well and seem much softer than other brands
  3. I would definitely recommend them to a friend, I was very impressed
  4. I would definitely buy them again in future, they're good value and a good fit
  5. they were definitely as good as other brands I've tried, we didn't have a single leak whilst testing them
