NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: “Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our pull up pants now have the magical absorbing tubes so we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint."

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? 2 years, size 5
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? No leaks and easy to put on
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? No., they no better than pull ups we currently use and price isn't everything (we try to buy biodegradable option to cope with our landfill guilt/being too lazy to use reusables)
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? equivalent to brand we currently use.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My 28 month old son used the size 6 pants.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The pants were really soft, like cotton and are the only pull ups or nappies we have used that have contained my sons urine without numerous leaks. He drinks a lot and normally over half would leak even when changing frequently. With the entire pack only 2 leaked!

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would definitely recommend them.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

They have been the best pull up or nappy I have used since my son was very small. They are soft, he was so comfortable in them and they didn't leak.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I have tried all the main super markets, pampers and hungies and none have compared to these. They are far softer and have held my sons urine so much better! While using them my son had no redness and was kept dry!

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Aged 4

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would recommend
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes great price and good quality
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? The compared very well preformed to the same standard as more expensive brands

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My child is two years old and used Xl smart pants size 6.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I already loved lidl nappies when they were Toujours but had never tried the Pull Up Pants so was eager to see what differences there was and I am pleasantly surprised. The Pull Up Pants were a much better option for my little one who now wants to involved in everything. With these he was able to put them on himself (with a little help). They were less bulky than I expected a pant to be. They were also very soft. I was most excited about the wetness indicator as it took the guess work out of nappy change time. Would have love for them to have the little sticky tab to wrap round the nappy so nothing falls out.

  3. Would you recommend these Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I already have. Lidl Pull Up Pants are great value for money which means you can put the extra money you save into something else. I genuinely feel that they are no less inferior than the name brands. They also allow the child to get involved in nappy changing time which makes it less stressful for all involved.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would buy these Pull Up Pants in the future as in the whole time there was no leaking. They did everything that I need a Pull Up to do and cost less than a branded pack of Pull Up Pants so it's a win win. Most importantly it took some of the stress out of a nappy change as I was able to put my child's legs in and leave the rest up to him.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I personally have never tried Pull Up Pants before but found lidl Pull Up Pants to be better than some of the nappies I've tried in the past. This is because they haven't leaked at all nor do they get really droopy and soggy like some other non-premium brands do.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My son is 2yrs and I tested size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

These pull ups are fantastic and feel really comfortable and so soft wearing them. My son loved them and they did the job just right 👍

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Oh yes why not they have out shined some big brands on the market.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes would be buying in the future they are good value for the money and they tick all the boxes on use.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

These pull ups have gone to the top of my brand list on dryness and leakage. Well done Lidl 👍

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Size 5. 20 months old.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Amazing! Soft and high quality. Didn’t particularly like the design on them but who cares about that?
3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely, and already have
4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes, only downside is that there isn’t a convenient Lidl. Much cheaper and just as good as pampers
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Pampers pull ups (baby dry and premium protection). Lidl ones are just as good.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 03/05/2018 11:41

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

  1. 2 years and 5 months
  2. XL
  3. Yes I have mentioned to several friends that we've been using them as part of toilet training
  4. Yes we would buy them as they are extremely soft, absorbent, and no leaks yet.
  5. I have found them to be equal in terms of dryness and leakage to pampers that I bought to compare as this is our first time if using pull ups.
NauticalDisaster · 03/05/2018 11:48

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

4 years old, using size 6 at bedtime only

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked that they didn’t leak!

I wasn’t as impressed with sturdiness, they tended to rip if my son tried pulling them up and down himself when he woke to use the toilet.

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, as they were good at not leaking.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

If I needed them and I were near Lidl then I would. I wouldn’t make a special trip to Lidl just for the nappies.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

As good as Asda own brand for leak protection but a bit more delicate.

ScribbleWibble · 03/05/2018 11:51

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

DS2 is two and a half, and we used size 5.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Extremely impressed. The nappies were super soft, and we had no issues with leaking.

I liked the fact that there was a sticky tab on the back to enable the nappy to be rolled up. When we tried a different shop brand pull up with my eldest, there was no tab so disposing on a pooey nappy was grim!

I can't think of anything we didn't like.

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, I already have in fact.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes, they were good value and good quality.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

On par with pampers pull ups, with not had leaks with either type.

Sleepysausage · 03/05/2018 12:03
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? My dd is 2.5 yes, we used the XL
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I thought they were lovely, really soft and easy for her to pull down herself for potty training (it was a disaster, she's not ready yet). They looked very comfortable, were easy to use. They also never smelt of urine.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would definitely recommend them for all the reasons above.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? I certainly would. They were perfect for our DD.
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They held alot of urine. Even overnight when our DD nappies often leak as she's drinks so much just before bed and over night, they kept her dry and fresh smelling.
MadeForThis · 03/05/2018 12:12

1, Dd is 2.5 and we tested size XL
2, overall impression was good. Liked the ease to put on and take off. Great leak prevention even overnight. Only dislike was I found them difficult to wrap up and seal.
3, would definitely recommend to a friend.
4, I would definitely buy again. In fact I already have. Will replace my previous Tesco nappies with these.
5, compared favourably with Tesco nappies. And price is even better. Have had no problems with leaks or nappy rash.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Ds is 2 and in size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

loved them! the fit was great, didnt leak and not bulky

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

yes definitely!

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

already have! such good value for money and great quality

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

far superior in every way

CordeliaScott · 03/05/2018 12:21

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Age 2, Size 6

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I thought that they were very good. They fitted well and kept him as dry as his usual brand. What I quite liked about them was that they were harder to tear at the sides which meant that I was less likely to rip them when he was being particularly wriggly

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes. I had no problems with them and they worked as well, if not better, than my usual brand.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I found that they were as well fitted and coped with dryness and leakage as well as my usual brand. However as set out above I found that they were a little more difficult to tear at the side which meant that I was less likely to accidentally tear them and my DS had more trouble trying to rip them off.

Nsmum14 · 03/05/2018 12:23

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Ds is 3 and we tested the size 6.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Very happy with them. They were very light and comfortable and fuss free. My son was happy to take them off to use the potty, they were easy to pull up and down.

  2. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, always. They do the job well at a lower price than branded pull-ups.

  3. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes. Because the quality is good and I shop at Lidl anyway.

  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
I think they're the same, perhaps slightly better because so straight forward. At my son's age I'm obviously training him out of wearing nappies so the plainer the better.

noo1985 · 03/05/2018 12:24
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? He is 2 and I used Size 5 as this is his normal pull up size
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I wasn’t overalls impressed if I am honest. I do think the price is ok but you only get 20/18 in a pack which doesn’t last a vast amount of time. They look quite cheap looking imo and they just didnt hold my sons night time wees to the point where one “exploded” on him which I was very unhappy about.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? No
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? No,, I don’t trust them for my son
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Not good at all, my son sways ended up wet and they just didn’t work as well as compatible brands especially overnight
tinytoucan · 03/05/2018 12:38
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
-Just turned 2, and size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

  • I liked them. I liked that they were soft and didn’t have a chemical smell. I liked the little pull out tab so you could fold the nappy pants closed when used, and the design was cute.
  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    -yes

  2. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

  • yes when I pass a Lidl. They are a lot cheaper than pampers which I have used before.
  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
  • they are comparable to other brands i’ve tried for these factors. We had no leaks during the test period.
Wellthisunexpected · 03/05/2018 12:38
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

DS is 2 and got size 5 pants (XL)

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants?

Loved them! Very soft and slim fitting. The elastic waist was soft and great for my slim boy. The legs fit really well too and there was plenty of stretch to them so would fit larger kids. Very easy to put on and easy to remove but didn't break easily either (DS like to try and pull at them). Lasted well over night, we didn't manage to out wee them!

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely. Great value and softer than other low priced supermarket alternatives (I'm looking at you Aldi).

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Yes for reasons stated above. It'll be a reason I go to Lidl as I don't currently shop there.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Brilliant, just as good/ better. Contained a poonami very well. Didn't ride up the butt cheek and cause a wedgy (and poo leak) like the pampers pants sometimes do.

Natsai1 · 03/05/2018 12:47

1**) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
My son is 32 months and wetested the size 5 pull ups

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I previously tried the old lidl brand size 5 pull ups but found them too big for my son who usually wears size 4+ nappies. So was worried that these pant would be similar. But surprisingly, they fitted perfectly. They were also super thin and soft for pants and didn't have that plastic look and feel. Although being thin, I found them to be super absorbent but didn't have the bulge and saggy bottom. My only wish was that that there were more in the pack and also a size 4+ option.

I usually use Asda little angel size 4 pants which has 42 pants for £3.87 which would be more economical than buying Lidl pull up pants.I also have since tried the new name lidl brand and experienced the same problems as before, i.e being a bit big. It was also slight different from the product tested. Would recommend a size 4+ pull up pants and more pants in a pack

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would, definitely.

  2. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I would, if nothing has changed in the product tested. .

  3. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? In terms of dryness and leakage, changes as such. Just more absorbent and soft.

MoooominMama · 03/05/2018 12:50
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Age just turned 2

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Good. Liked they felt nice and fitted well. Looked very plain - but then again you really dont want a toddler to be excited about wearing pull ups so...

  1. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Probably not, as little one is now into pants. But if I were to need nappies I'd definitely consider them.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

We had no leaks and they were comfy. Didn't stick to skin like others can so would possibly rate them highly for dryness.

Girlsmummy89 · 03/05/2018 12:51

My little girl is 21 months and we used the size 5 pull ups.
I really like the softness of Lidl nappies, when my eldest was a newborn I tried the Aldi nappies and they seemed so hard on her delicate skin but the Lidl ones are much softer. The only problem with the pull ups are they're a bit more difficult to get off when she's pood than a normal nappy.
I would recommend them to a friend.
I would buy them again, especially now she's started ripping the tabs open on a normal nappy. Hopefully these will be harder for her to get off!
They are comparable to other brands that cost a lot more.

Fingermoose · 03/05/2018 12:52
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? Age three and size 5 (though his older brother had one for a night time pull-up too)
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Loved the softness and the sticky tab. Didn't dislike anything.
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? We have already - because of comfort and ease of pulling up and down when potty training.
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? We haven't had a problem with leakage or dryness with any pull-up we have tried.
lollylaus · 03/05/2018 12:59
  1. my little girl is 21 months and we used size 6.

  2. great quality, nice and thin but still absorbant. Good fit, no leaks!

  3. I would definitely recommend them, they do the job just as well as other nappies and are a great price too. We didn't have any leaks and my little girl seemed comfortable in them.

  4. would definitely buy them in future, especially as my little girl is getting older and hoping to potty train her fairly soon.

  5. having bought pampers recently and had a poo disaster I would say Lupilu are actually better fitting and marvellous value!

GlitterRollerSkate · 03/05/2018 13:02
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

Age 2 size 5

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They are very soft and have a nice design. Unfortunately they made my lo's bottom very red and sore. We had to stop using them.

  2. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

For none sensitive skin I would. They are lovely and soft. A very good price. I would definitely use them if they didn't make my lo's bottom sore.

  1. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Will try with with DC2 when they are bigger as they do not have such sensitive skin but not with DC1

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They seem to be comparable to Aldi's nappies. They did not leak and seemed to keep my DC dry.

Deedee75 · 03/05/2018 13:03
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use? He's 3 and we used size 6/XL just at nighttime.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? Lovely and soft, and most importantly no leaks!
What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Liked the softness and dryness. Didn't like them being completely plain with no design at all as my son always asks for ones with pictures. Also, there was no indication as to which was the front and back - managed to find someone else mentioned the plastic strip goes at the back.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes, already have done

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why? Yes as they're the only ones that have consistently not had any leaks compared to other pull-ups, plus they're really soft.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Much better for leakage since we haven't had any leaks with these, but have with all other brands of pull-ups, even the nighttime ones and pyjama pants.
