This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who have been testing monthly subscription boxes Pink Parcel and/or bettybox with their daughters.

Here’s what Pink Parcel and bettybox have to say:

Pink Parcel: “Pink Parcel is the UK’s No1 period subscription box that unites periods and pampering to make your time of the month fuss-free and fabulous. Delivered to your door monthly on a day of your choosing each box contains over £40 of tampons, pads and beauty products including a mix of cult beauty brands, herbal teas and artisan chocolates. You can select your choice of tampons, pads or a mix of both from all your trusted brands. This convenient box ensures you’ll never run out of products again.”

bettybox: “bettybox is the perfect pick me up for girls. As well as all their trusted tampons and/or pads, they can expect sweet treats, make-up, stationery and more all from brands specially selected for teens. Choose from your favourite tampon and pad brands and receive your monthly box with treats worth up to £30 delivered for free directly to your door. You’ll never have to worry about running out of pads again!”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, as well as completing the survey we’ll be sending you via email shortly.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
  2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
  3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
  4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
  5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Great idea and was nice to have a variety of products to use.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

I’m not sure how much it actually is per month but I would be willing to pay around £15-£20 for a box as the beauty products were really nice.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I would label the individual towels/tampons as I can’t remember which I chose for myself and DD and it’s hard to tell from looking at the packet which are normal/heavy flow etc.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes I would, DD was super excited to receive hers and the extras were good quality.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I didn’t choose tampons for my box but the pads were a good variety and a good amount too.

IKnowWhenThatHotlineBling · 27/03/2018 20:53
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It was a lovely luxury to look forward to and made me try to remember to buy sanitary protection, which i always do!

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

I personally would never pay a monthly subscription for something like this. I only pay about a £1 for my sanitary towels so its a big expense to get some fancy extras with it.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

It would be nice to choose from a selection of items you want in your box.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

I would recommend as its pretty and a nice positive girly slant on a crappy time for women! I think its lovely for girl that are just starting their periods and it would make it less daunting.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I found i had plenty and a good selection of day and night pads. I love the little bad and boxes they come in too.

Osquito · 27/03/2018 21:00
  1. I thought it was very handy always having a supply on hand that I didn’t have to remember to buy - but wondered if I’d find myself with a growing pile of extra pads/tampons as the months went on.
  2. I feel it’s definitely an indulgent luxury thing to have, I couldn’t justify having this as well as, say, a standard beauty box sub etc.
  3. There was a lot of packaging! I understand it’s nice opening the several little parcels within but wow that was a lot of card... And as pp said: labeled pads/tampons, please.
  4. I’d recommend it IF I thought it was something the person would like. I have some friends who thought the idea was simply ludicrous, and they’d just buy tampons themselves.
  5. I was given a generous selection of pads and tampons... the ‘right’ amount is different for different women - I think they should look into having the standard (generous) amount, and for those subscribers who need fewer then offer to donate the surplus (to Bloody Good Period and the like) on their behalf.

I took some pics because the design was quite nice, though spotted a typo on the leaflet (as well as my name being misspelt on parcel), which was a shame.

Haven’t answered for my dsd’s Bettybox as we haven’t received any yet!

1.What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Waste of time and money, as the boxes don’t fit through the letterbox and Sainsbury’s is walking distance from my home, whereas the sorting office is 4 miles away.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not particularly, I would rather get a Birchbox and pop to the supermarket.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

They would actually fit through the letterbox. The administration of them wouldn’t breach data protection. There would be less pink. The company would not brush over said data protection and then try to say they had sent out a box on 48 hour delivery that they hadn’t. Bloody shambles.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

As a concept maybe, as the company itself, I would tell them to avoid.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I don’t use night pads so that was a waste, everything else was ok but had more than needed.

—————————————

Can I just repeat that this was a terrible product test. You’d think the company would have the balls to address the major data protection breach instead of glossing over it. They should give us the oppprtunity to have our own and our children’s (some under 13 - significant in terms of data protection) details removed from their records.

Ilikesweetpeas · 27/03/2018 21:46
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
For myself not bothered, but DD loved it!
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not really, the products could be bought cheaper and the, "treats" may not be to your taste. Also, one item was missing- not a problem in a free trial but wouldn't have been impressed had I paid for it.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
I would want the data protection issues to be sorted out. Not impressed that DD's name was sent to a stranger.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Had there not been the issues with the late delivery / lack of confidential then yes, I would have done.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
For me I found it fine, a good mix. For DD not the right mix but as we received someone else's box it's hard to say as she didn't get what she ordered.

I think the company had a chance to redeem themselves when we received an email saying we would get a second Betty Box within 48 hours but as this hasn't arrived I wouldn't be happy to send them my payment details.

Thanks for the chance to try these products

CamdenTownie · 27/03/2018 21:58
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It was really handy, my daughter particularly liked having the pads delivered as it means she's got a stash ready for when she needs them, the cotton bags they arrived in were also a nice addition.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

I felt that the bettybox was excellent value for money and the nip & Fab product was very well received by my teenage daughter, she also loved the truffles, the products in the pink parcel were ok, but not really to my taste and I think they may be aimed at the 40+ age range.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

The boxes could contain less packaging- it did seem excessive.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

I would! But particularly the bettybox, we will most likely continue with a subscription to this one.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

The san pro were good quality and the same brands that we use regularly- there did seem to be lots, more than I would generally need.

Mossend · 27/03/2018 22:03

This review is for the incorrect Bettybox my DD received. I have yet to receive anything and my DD has not received her correct box

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
The idea in principle is a good one, unfortunately it would be delivered to the sorting office as the box does not fit through the letter box
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
With the addition of the samples/products I would say yes
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
I would have less packaging and make the boxes smaller
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
After all the mistakes and misinformation no I wouldn't
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
I can only review the Bettybox my DD received and I would say yes
Roseformeplease · 27/03/2018 22:03
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It is a great idea and the treats included would make it feel quite exciting.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Yes for the Pink Parcel - quite good stuff. Betty Box seemed cheaper from the photos. The pads were good quality and the right sort of quantity. Still waiting for DD's box. We got one wrongly address but were promised a second, correct, one.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I think I would like more choice of good treats. We don't have the same tastes and it is not a treat if you don't like it. Or, at the least be able to say what NOT to include. Ditto with make up / beauty stuff.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes. But you have to change the name. Pink? Really. Also, the huge mix up. Still no 2nd promised box. Want very much to like the idea and order but a bit put off with the mix up.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

Yes, plenty. Happy with the mix but, again, more choice.

As an aside, why advertise the products with a transman who was so revolted by his female body he took hormones and had surgery to change it? Surely acceptance is about liking who you are and what your body does?

Theimpossiblegirl · 27/03/2018 23:23

My feedback is for the Pinkbox, as we are still waiting for the Bettybox.

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month? It's a nice idea, although I personally have no qualms about buying them from the shops or sending DH.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money? As subscription boxes go, yes. The contents are worth more than the box so I felt I had a good deal.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? The size- I don't for a moment believe they fit through the majority of letterboxes.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member? Not right now, i'd be concerned about reliability and would be embarrassed recommending them if it went wrong. Maybe if they sorted the delivery issues out, the boxes themselves are great.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products? I personally would like a few more of each. The tampons were quite slim and I was worried they wouldn't cope with a heavy flow.

chezbot · 28/03/2018 08:33

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Very convenient indeed. More so for less organised DD. We do have a postie that knocks though. If I had to retrieve from sorting office every month it'd soon give me the pip.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Yes.Grooming treats feel luxurious. Face oil in PP especially.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? Tweak the size slightly in order that they fit through letterbox please!

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes but with slight reservations given the DP issue with incorrectly addressed Bettyboxes during this test.. Have been intrigued by Bettyboxes for a while, impressed with contents and very likely to sub for newly teen DD.
Thankyou for the opportunity to try both.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products
Too many scented pads in mine! Great mix in DDs second box.

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 28/03/2018 08:41

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
We have used other beauty box schemes before so it felt just like using those, but with the added sanitary protection included.
However, the boxes didn’t fit through our letterbox. I was in both times when our postman delivered them, but would have had to go to the sorting office to collect them if I hadn’t been at home. *

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?*
I think it is good value. A good selection of pads and tampons, plus some nice treats alongside those. *
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?*
The size of the boxes so they can fit through letterboxes. *
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?*
To echo pp, I would not recommend this product to friends and family members. This is my first product test and it seems so disorganised.*
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?*
I found that there were enough products and the mix of them was just right.
Itis6oclocksomewhere · 28/03/2018 08:43

Apologies for the bold fail! It was set out much clearer when I was replying.

PutYourBracesTogether · 28/03/2018 08:54
  1. Boxes didn't fit through letterbox so not impressed but DD liked the novelty of receiving a package.
  1. Good-ish value for money.
  1. I'd change the size to fit through letterbox. Also, we all seemed to get different treats so hard to gauge an average box.
  1. I doubt I'd recommend the boxes due to the disorganisation and data protection cock ups. We still haven't received our replacement bettybox.
  1. I would have preferred more as I'd hate to pay for a subscription that needed adding to with my weekly supermarket shop.
TheHobbitMum · 28/03/2018 08:59
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I did look fur ward to receiving the boxes as did my daughter as we don't usually treat ourselves like this. It was exciting not knowing exactly what we were getting. Although the boxes didn't Contain anywhere near enough to a month's supply for either of us it was good to try new products we wouldn't ordinarily try
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
My daughter felt it was good value as she is very much into the beauty products and special treats appeal to her more. I wouldn't pay for myself but would consider using for my daughter
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
I would label the pads/tampons so I cough remember what they are, a choice of the treat enclosed would entice me my eyes as craft items would appeal to me.more than beauty items. A vegan great option would be my daughters choice too
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
I would personally recommend to friends with daughters as I think they would find it much more fun & appealing
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
I didn't think there was enough of either but we are a heavy flow family which would mean we would need more than others
PointlessUsername · 28/03/2018 09:55

1.What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Dd and myself were looking forward to recieving the boxes.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

There was'nt near enough pads/tampons for a months supply for dd or myself. I could get triple the amount of pads in a supermaket for a fraction of the price.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

A bigger amount of pads/tampons. Maybe less packaging as the box is very large with 3 boxes inside.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

I think i would if it contained a few more extras

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products

Too little...Very much so. Dd and i both have heavy long peroids tho so maybe someone with a lighter flow would be happier with the amount of pads recieved.

Candyperfumegirl · 28/03/2018 10:05
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

I thought it was quite a fun idea. My daughter is autistic so I feel a sub box like this would be perfect for her and help her to remember / cope better.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Personally, I spend just £1 a month on sanpro so I would really be subscribing for the other items, so I would prob just go for a beauty box subscription.

However, I would prob subscribe for my daughter as the price is reasonable for what she got and she was very excited opening both her boxes to see what was inside.

I also liked that many of the food products were labelled as being vegetarian. My dd was pleased with this as a veggie, it would have been disappointing to receive treats she couldn't consume.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

Make them a little smaller so they fit through the letter box. Less packaging if poss. A portion of the profits made by the company to go to female charities.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes, I will be recommending it to other mums with autistic teen daughters. However, I would have to mention the name mix up.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I guess answers will really vary with this one. For us there were far too many pads and I think I can imagine we would start getting a big stack of them if we subscribed. I wouldn't use the night pads either and would have to purchase additional liners.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Whilst it's a good idea it's annoying to have the postie braying on the door for a box that 'fits through the letterbox'.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not really. It costs me a couple of quid for my sanitary products. The majority of my box was empty space and i had a huge box that just rattled with about 7 tampons in it!! What a waste. DD loved her box though and said she would happily pay for a box every month.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? They need to be smaller to fit through the letterbox - shouldn't be a problem if they are as empty as mine was.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Not for an adult but probably for the girls. With all the hassle that we have had receiving the wrong box and the data breach it's a worry.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products
my box would last me maybe a day as I have endo and heavy periods. I did wonder if the box of 8 tampons was a mistake as I can't imagine anyone only needs that many. It would be a better idea to have different types of boxes for different types of women as we are not all the same. DD had just the right amount in hers.

Thanks for letting us try these boxes. The concept is good but it's not for me.

ilovekitkats · 28/03/2018 11:00

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It’s a brilliant idea but I couldn’t justify the cost. The extras are nice but presumably a lot are freebies to the company and advertising for the products involved. So you pay a lot of money for the extras that you might not use.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

No. £12.99 a month is horrendous for a few pads and free samples. And twice that if DD had one too. I usually spend £5-6 a month on Sanitary towels.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

Less packaging. I know it’s all cardboard but it’s all gone right in the bin with the towels put in our usual drawer.

Maxi pads. I use these but they weren’t an option. (I use Always).

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes if they could afford it. The extra products are nice although not worth it to me. I do like the little drawstring bags that you can put in your handbag. It’s a great idea but not affordable to most people I know.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I would say it was about right, maybe a few too many. I only had towels, don’t use tampons, neither does DD. As mentioned, it would be good to have maxi products available.

————————————————————

I agree that the data breach was unacceptable. I received two boxes one with my name and One with a strangers name on. I then received another BB with DD’s name on, with different products in. It was good to see a different selection in the latest one.

The boxes do NOT fit through my large letter box.

I didn’t like to see BB advertising their own products. It felt cheap like you’re trying to get people in with known brands then persuade them to buy Betty pads, plus it’s aimed at the young girls.

I wouldn’t direct DD to the website as I don’t want her to read a transman’s very negative experience of periods. That has no bearing for most young teenage girls.

Imgettingcheesefries · 28/03/2018 11:19

My review is just for the Bettybox as I'm still waiting for the Pink Parcel

  1. I think it's handy and convenient but I don't think I would consider either box if it was just the pads/tampons, it's definitely more about the treats for me
  2. I don't know exactly how much it costs but I've heard about £10 so I would think that's quite good value, there is quite a lot in the box
  3. Mine also didn't fit through the letterbox, I'm usually in when postman comes and he will leave packages somewhere safe for me so not a huge issue for me. When I filled in the form for what we wanted I couldn't find dds usual pads, lil lets teens so had to go for normal 'adult' ones which are far too big for her knickers, so more choice maybe
  4. Yes I would, I really liked it and dd was excited to get a box of surprises, I think she would love it if we subscribed. I think it's a great idea for girls just starting their periods like my dd
  5. There was plenty in there for us, probably more than we would use in one month
Bessiebigpants · 28/03/2018 11:27

I loved receiving both boxes the Betty box was about the right number and combinations of products. The pink box was probably a bit too much but will be used by my girls as well as myself.
Value for money It's probably more than I would spend on just San pro alone but the convenience makes up for the cost and I did enjoy the treats as did my daughters
If I could change anything it would be the box size it's rather large and the cotton bags for San pro were unnecessary
I would and have recommended the boxes to friends especially Dads who have teen girls on weekends/holidays it means that products and treats are always available removing embarrassment
My only real criticism was they were not addressed correctly and one box had been opened at some point.

HidingFromTheWorld · 28/03/2018 11:29

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It’s potentially a useful concept, but, as others have said, we couldn’t justify the cost on a monthly basis. We may consider it a quarterly treat, particularly because my teenage daughter suffers horrendously. However, I could make up my own care package for her for a fraction of the cost. The treats are a ‘nice to have’, but both my daughter and I were allergic to almost all of the consumable and cosmetic contents of both boxes. An option to make this clear, to allow for an allergy friendly box is necessary.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

£12.99 a month is more than I would be happy to spend. Essentially, I can purchase identical pads and sample sized products for half the price. I would therefore not choose to purchase the boxes.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

More choice about the additional products that accompany the sanitary protection

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes, if they could afford it but, with the understanding that allergies could be an issue unless it’s resolved. The extra products do not, in my opinion, justify the overall cost. It’s a good concept, but the price is likely to be a deal breaker for the majority.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

We were happy with the choice and quantity of towels (don’t use tampons).

HidingFromTheWorld · 28/03/2018 11:31

Forgot to address the worrying issue of data protection! While we now have two Betty boxes, someone, somewhere, received one in my daughter’s name and this concerns me.

I’d have to receive reassurances that appropriate measures had been put in place to resolve this issue and that it was taken very seriously before I considered using this company.

eightyeightmilesperhour · 28/03/2018 11:37

What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I think it's a great idea, but there weren't enough in there for both of us. Also, the size of the boxes is a big issue. No way could it fit into our letterbox! I had to traipse to the sorting office which was a bit of a faff.

Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
I'm afraid not. Even with the treats, I don't think I would pay more than £10.

What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Definitely the size. I'm sure a lot of testers would agree. There is also too much unnecessary packaging. A few more pads too!

Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Possibly - it was nice as an occasional treat. DD loved her bettybox and all the treats inside. I wasn't a big fan of the chocolate coconut thingybobs - I would have much preferred a good old-fashioned chocolate bar!

Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
There were definitely too little pads. Both of us wanted at least 8-10 more.

MonochromeDog · 28/03/2018 11:47

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I thought it was great idea! I really like the thought that I wouldn’t need to worry about making sure I have towels in if they’re coming through my door.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not really no. It’s incredibly pricy and although the treats/beauty products were nice, they don’t justify the cost. I usually buy all the towels that myself and did need for under a fiver month. Also the treats and beauty products in the Betty box although nice just didn’t appeal to dd at all. She’s not a girly girl and really isn’t into anything like that, I ended up using them. I think having another option for girls who don’t necessarily like beauty products and chocolate would be good.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
As above, I think having the option of different treats would be a good idea for girls who aren’t into beauty products and chocolate.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
No probably not. I don’t think anyone I know could justify the expense.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
There were plenty for myself, I’ve got quite a few left over for next month. But not for dd, she ran out of the ones in the Betty box and started using ones we already had in. She does suffer from heavy periods though and she bleeds for at least 7 days. I think having options to take into consideration what kind of flow and for how long would be a good consideration.

@JustineBMumsnet

I've just received an email asking for my address for the replacement box but my reply keeps pinging back to me?
