We have a very exciting product test for you...We've been asked by Samsung to find 30 Mumsnetters to try out their new G-Series American-style fridge freezer (average selling price £1,800) in their home and give feedback on Talk. Everyone who is selected to take part and adds their feedback will get to keep the fridge freezer forever!

This is what Samsung says about the product: "With the new G-Series three door American-style fridge freezer, you will get lots more storage space thanks to thin wall insulation technology. You also get the benefit of some really clever features, all designed to make your life easier. A plumbed dispenser gives you chilled and filtered ice and water on tap, foldable shelves mean you can fit all your food and drink in irrespective of their size, shape, width or breadth, and FreshSafe Vegetable drawers give you the best humidity levels to preserve vitamins and nutrients in any fruits and vegetables you?re storing. Even better is the CoolSelect Pantry which acts as a mini fridge within a fridge. It?s an independently controlled drawer which can be set to three different temperatures, so you can be sure you are storing your food at the right temperature."

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in mainland UK
  • Be willing to provide two lots of feedback (once when the fridge freezer has just been delivered and again after a couple of months) which will appear on MN and may be used for marketing by Samsung (they will link to the feedback thread from their website - you can namechange for the feedback if you like)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with Samsung) for delivery
  • Have space, electricity and a cold water supply (for ice and water dispenser) for a fridge freezer this size in your kitchen (or wherever it would live) - click here for more information on dimensions etc

If you are selected to take part, the fridge freezer will be delivered free of charge but Samsung aren't able to remove any old appliances so you would need to arrange for any existing fridge freezer occupying the space to be removed yourself.

You will get to keep the new fridge freezer once the product test is finished - so long as you add at least 2 lots of feedback on Mumsnet. Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the fridge freezer, the flexibility of the storage space inside it, any features you particularly like etc.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks

I think they mean the tilting can Thimbu in the right-hand door.

TheRealMBJ · 25/07/2011 17:56

Thimbu?!?! Thingy.

nenevomito · 25/07/2011 18:03

Hmm, been looking at that, but not sure how to fit the pizza in.

Blush Maybe I am sounding a bit pizza obsessive now, but I'm one of those freaks who reads the instructions from cover to cover for pleasure.

Tequilamockinbird · 25/07/2011 18:24

I'd like to know about the tilting pocket for pizza too! Not entirely sure what the one in the freezer is for - ice lollies?

Ours is up and running, and full, now! Water is dispensing fine but waiting until tomorrow to try the ice.

It's fabulous, DH and I have been playing around with it for ages. He even came home from work early so that he could see what I'd been obsessively wittering on about all day via phone and text!

mygirllollipop · 25/07/2011 18:34

I thought it was the freezer one as I thought I could see a horizontal handle in the illustration. they must have changed it after the manual was done. There's another difference to the instructions too, it says to change the setting on the pantry drawer to press temp to go through the 3 options but now you can just press any of the 3 options.
Gutted about the pizza drawer.

MadameBoo · 25/07/2011 18:35

We put ice lollies in the freezer one. Is the pizza one the one on the top right hand side as you open it?

Tequilamockinbird · 25/07/2011 18:57

Looking at the instruction book I think it is MadameBoo, but I can't see where the pizza would go. Eggs in the very top right and cans underneath that - no room for a pizza box.

Unless the manual is wrong?

nenevomito · 25/07/2011 19:48

well I'm glad its not just me! I did wonder what the tilting one in the freezer was for, but ice lollies makes sense!

WhipMeIndiana · 25/07/2011 20:42

ours didnt have an egg holder?
anyway I thought eggs dont go in the fridge as their shells become more open to bacterium if chilled?

cant see a tilting pizza pocket anywhere
dh trying to get sticky tape off everything

LOVE arranging all of my food...where to put the salad cream? jam?

WhipMeIndiana · 25/07/2011 20:43

LOVE the LED lights. and the blue numbers Grin

TheRealMBJ · 25/07/2011 20:46

We don't have an egg thingy either. Hmm...

Tequilamockinbird · 25/07/2011 20:46

Well I say an egg holder, it's a plastic flap type thing where I put the eggs - have now taken them out though as I didn't know they shouldn't be in there!

Are the blue temperature numbers supposed to stay lit? Mine come on if I press fridge or freezer but go off again after about 5 seconds! Is there a way to keep them lit? I rather like the blue lights lighting the kitchen up

TheRealMBJ · 25/07/2011 20:52

O, they go off after a little while. Probably to save electricity.

nenevomito · 25/07/2011 20:54

No egg holder either, but thats OK, I can put several boxes in without problem Grin

Oh the joys! I can store a whole cupboard full of half empty jars of condiments in here!

Ponders · 25/07/2011 20:55

eggs should live in their boxes at room temp, Tmb (& you can use them past the date on the box, though obv it's more reassuring not to Wink)

mine hasnt got a winerack? or an egg holder? should it have them?

WhipMeIndiana · 25/07/2011 21:06

my wine bottle is in the temp controlled pantry box...rolling around a little bit though...

TheRealMBJ · 25/07/2011 21:06

wine rack?!? We don't have one either. Was actually going to suggest that they incorporate one.

Should I have one?

TheRealMBJ · 25/07/2011 21:07

Not that I would be using it fully ATM, mind.

WhipMeIndiana · 25/07/2011 21:07

I felt a bit daft but have de-boxed all our ice lollies and filed along that crazy ice lolly pocket

WhipMeIndiana · 25/07/2011 21:08

so..no wine rack and instead, an ice lolly pocket.
hmmmmm., could make wine-pops

WhipMeIndiana · 25/07/2011 21:11

Ive put all the condiments top shelf, right hand side,
ham and cooked sausage underneath them,
yogs and cartons and butter to left of them,
cheeses in the right hand door top box, milks below that
chocolates in the ''egg box''
ds's steroid cream in left hand side door pocket,
4 cans coke in the can holder
2 bottles becks in left hand top door side box

in freezer have pizza top left, kids fishfingers etc top right
lollies in pocket Wink
chicken and meat pie bottom left and in the little bottom right have chips and peas

cant see pizza pocket anywhere Hmm

WhipMeIndiana · 25/07/2011 21:13
