We have a very exciting product test for you...We've been asked by Samsung to find 30 Mumsnetters to try out their new G-Series American-style fridge freezer (average selling price £1,800) in their home and give feedback on Talk. Everyone who is selected to take part and adds their feedback will get to keep the fridge freezer forever!

This is what Samsung says about the product: "With the new G-Series three door American-style fridge freezer, you will get lots more storage space thanks to thin wall insulation technology. You also get the benefit of some really clever features, all designed to make your life easier. A plumbed dispenser gives you chilled and filtered ice and water on tap, foldable shelves mean you can fit all your food and drink in irrespective of their size, shape, width or breadth, and FreshSafe Vegetable drawers give you the best humidity levels to preserve vitamins and nutrients in any fruits and vegetables you?re storing. Even better is the CoolSelect Pantry which acts as a mini fridge within a fridge. It?s an independently controlled drawer which can be set to three different temperatures, so you can be sure you are storing your food at the right temperature."

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in mainland UK
  • Be willing to provide two lots of feedback (once when the fridge freezer has just been delivered and again after a couple of months) which will appear on MN and may be used for marketing by Samsung (they will link to the feedback thread from their website - you can namechange for the feedback if you like)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with Samsung) for delivery
  • Have space, electricity and a cold water supply (for ice and water dispenser) for a fridge freezer this size in your kitchen (or wherever it would live) - click here for more information on dimensions etc

If you are selected to take part, the fridge freezer will be delivered free of charge but Samsung aren't able to remove any old appliances so you would need to arrange for any existing fridge freezer occupying the space to be removed yourself.

You will get to keep the new fridge freezer once the product test is finished - so long as you add at least 2 lots of feedback on Mumsnet. Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the fridge freezer, the flexibility of the storage space inside it, any features you particularly like etc.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks

Bastarding plumbers - ours was supposed to come round Tuesday to sort us out for Angel Fridge delivery this Friday - he cancelled as he was double booked Hmm, can't do it this weekend because he is going to Global Gathering (pah) and is doing it next week ON PAIN OF DEATH.

So Angel Fridge is not coming until NEXT Friday now

We went to Homebase and bought an Egual Tee Y adaptor, we went for a copper compression one as it looked sturdia than the plastic easy fit ones. It took us 60 mins to remove the old copper tube adaptor and another 90 mins to fix the new stuff to it, it was v fiddly but if we can do it then anyone can. I could not bring myself to fork out money for a plumber. The Y adaptor was £5.49, a bargain I thought.

The fridge is now up and running, looking beautiful and filled mainly with dh's beers as we're going shopping tomorrow to stock up on food.

I've spent the afternoon cleaning my old fridgefreezer as it's going to my cousin's new home, he's moving in with his girlfriend and they were overjoyed to be getting a free fridgefreezer. Not quite so excited as I am with mine!!

Macaroona · 28/07/2011 21:32

Brill! So I'll buy a Y thing and hopefully that'll be fine, and hopefully the Sprint dudes will take it from there. They'll have tools and expertise I assume. We don't need any kind of adapter to make it fit the fridge pipe? Do they bring that bit?

Now, on to the important issue of finding the best current supermarket deal on cases of beer to fill it up and win sceptical DH round Wink

DurhamDurham · 28/07/2011 21:52

The Sprint men will only connect the tubing ect if the Y-thingy is in place, they will not carry out any actual plumbing for you. It has to be ready for them to just connect, the part which connects tube to fridge is in with the delivery. Well that was our experience today.
I do have one good tip, the plastic tubing is very fiddly and has been coiled up, we were having difficulty feeding it behind the units to get to the mains supply. I had a brilliant idea (well I like to think it was brilliant) and put the end of the tube into one of dd2's plastic knitting needles and that made it a much easier task!

Good Luck Smile

Macaroona · 28/07/2011 21:59

Thanks loads Durham, that's super helpful - I guess I DH will have to wrestle with the Y thing in advance then.

Bring on F-Day! Smile

Pekkala · 29/07/2011 07:40

Ours arrives between 2 and 4 today - I'm sooo excited. We went to Waitrose last night to buy Food Suitable For A Fridge of This Quality (Heston popcorn icecream mmmmm).
Its going to be delayed gratification for me though as I'm off to my mum's for the weekend so DP gets to test its beer-cooling prowess as he's got friends over for the evening (pah). He'd better not break it....

LaVitaBellissima · 29/07/2011 07:54

Mine is here, came at 6.45am

Need to rearrange the kitchen & plumb it in now!

It's so big & shiny Grin

HELP -- IT'S THE WRONGE FRIDGE Confused

I don't know for sure but the delivery guys are here. Came in scout location and mentioned that the fridge they are delivering is "not the same one" as the one they delivered to another competition winner the other day. He said it's "too light". He has gone back to the truck to have a look ...

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 10:25

It sounds like they are, however, bringing something into the stairwell.

He also said they could not take the doors off to get it through my hall because it's a different one and the doors can't come off. But surely, others on the thread have had the fridge delivered with its doors off? I am panicking too much to read back.

Can hear men complaining in stairwell. Sounds of heavy item movement have ground to a halt.

Oh, something's happening again ... dragging noises.

Gah.

MadameBoo · 29/07/2011 10:26

Don't panic Martini - it will all be ok

MadameBoo · 29/07/2011 10:26

Yes, they took my doors off. Have a word with them. They can't just dump the wrong one on you!

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 10:26

I think it must be the right fridge after all, or he would have come back up the stairs to tell me, instead of dragging it into the stair, right?

I hope.

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 10:27

Thanks MadameBoo!

MadameBoo · 29/07/2011 10:28

I would ask again. just to be sure. They did take the doors off mine and it didn't take long. Unless you have an even more super duper model... you never know!

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 10:29

Quick q: will they help take the box off and take it away?! This thing is ENORMOUS Shock It's being dragged up the stairs in its cardboard box. Frightening rattling sounds.

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 10:37

OK they will take box away. If it ever gets to top of stairs. Can hear voices on mid landing saying "This is no' going anywhere, Stuart"

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 10:40

Jesus. Those poor men. One of them is lying half under fridge box to sort of ease it upwards over turn in stair. Can see lettering on box advising gloves be worn in transit to avoid strain or injury

TheRealMBJ · 29/07/2011 11:01

Oh Martini Confused. Have they sorted it out? Is it the right one?

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 11:36

It's sorted Grin

Yes, sorry for the panic -- it is the right one. The youngest bloke was the one who had insisted it was different, but he retracted this at the end. I checked the model number and all is well.

Hurrah! It is sitting quietly in the midde of the room a corner until Tuesday when the joiner/plumber man comes. It is approximately 8 times the size of our current fridge Grin Grin Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 29/07/2011 11:39

Someone in my local paper is selling one of these, states it's nearly new. There's a photo and it's the same model as these. It did cross my mind that maybe someone from mn is selling theirs!

nenevomito · 29/07/2011 11:50

What are they asking for it?

I'm keeping tight hold of mine. I'd never have the funds to buy anything like it again and it looks so lovely in the kitchen. It would be horrible to separate Friedrich Fridge Freezer from his new best friend, Klaus the Cooker.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/07/2011 11:54

£500, bargain really. But I don't have space for it.

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/07/2011 11:58

I have just really laughed at your blow by blow account dirtymartini. It's better than the 'oh god someone is going to get HURT' bits of Casualty or the boom boom boom bits of eastenders (will the fridge get up the stairs? will someone die?)

I am so looking forward to my new fridge. I have got a reasonably new kitchen and for a while have looked proudly at my sink and tap (have got a weirdy german sink with enormo tap which cost a fortune and DP is still in a strop about it). I will now ignore the tap and start caressing the fridge.

I am so excited.

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/07/2011 11:59

£500 for a £1700 freezer?

Can you imagine if it is a mumsnetter. They will be asked for feedback and they will go 'ummm, yeah, it keeps stuff cold. The doors have really nice hinges. The fridge is very nice'

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/07/2011 12:01

You will see me in a Take a Break in a few months 'Gloucester woman falls in love and marries Fridge "he is better than any man" she simpers'
