Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I just decluttered a lotion from my bathroom we bought on holiday five years ago.

Theforest · 18/08/2020 21:23

I painted our kitchen today

BrettAndersonscheekbones · 18/08/2020 21:23

I got 15 eggs (free range) for 10p in Asda earlier.

MrsJimmyPerez · 18/08/2020 21:24

I bought a nightie from Boyes today, brushed cotton, XL, with a sprigs of flowers pattern. I’ve had it with pyjamas.

ClearTheDecks · 18/08/2020 21:24

Greek toes.

wannabebetter · 18/08/2020 21:25

@BloodyBollockingHell

I have Greek toes.

It’s the most exciting thing that has happened to me in 6 months.

Did anyone else just check their feet?? Egyptian by the way...Grin

I used to only write with a fountain pen, where do you even get them these days?

I have one from the mid 90s and another which is much older, can't actually remember who owned it before but I know it was one of my family. They are Parker pens.

Was just boring the pants off chatting to my DS11 about how my DM bought me a white Parker fountain pen and rollerball set when I started school, as I handed him a new ballpoint Parker Jotter (currently £5.99 in Aldi). He said he wants a fountain pen really if that's OK, so I will be going back tomorrow to see what they have left.

I got slightly hung up on throwing away pens that you don't refill so this is a little bit of my plastic avoidance strategy too, I guess.

Plus fountain pens are just much nicer to write with.

Also, good old eBay.

DS has grown out of the school shoes he got when he went back to school for 4 weeks in June. Also trainers. Presumably also walking boots, football boots and all the other footwear that nearly-12 year old boys have.

Eliphanbee · 18/08/2020 21:27

I bought a body pillow..had a lovely nights sleep (apart from strange dream!) and didn't forget like I normally do

Eliphanbee · 18/08/2020 21:27

fidget, rather:)

1990s · 18/08/2020 21:28

I figured out how to wear a swimming hat so my hair doesn't get wet in the pool.

How how?! Share the wealth Smile

Lockdownseperation · 18/08/2020 21:29

I need to buy an iron as DD1 is starting school. I think she probably need new wellies too.

wineandsunshine · 18/08/2020 21:32

A bird pooped on my freshly washed hair today...then I won £10 on the lottery online - I've put £5 on set for life please let me win!!

theotherfossilsister · 18/08/2020 21:32

I started yoga on YouTube and it's really good.

Coldbatteredpuddings · 18/08/2020 21:32

I have a new road bike, she's called Geraldine and I love her 😍😍😍
Today, I purchased all the back to school stuff for my kids online. They are at different schools and there are soooo many different suppliers I need to get stuff from - it cost a fortune and it took forever but it's done. Praying it all fits ok 🤞🤞

Mrsjayy · 18/08/2020 21:33

My DD bought new pjs red top white bottom ,🙄 they have been lying in the washing basket for weeks I bought colour catchers they are.a revelationGrin

PerkingFaintly · 18/08/2020 21:33

I did all my birthday and Christmas shopping a fortnight ago, mostly online vouchers. Today I realised I misread and the vouchers have been debited immediately, not at date of delivery.

Bit of a re this month's cash flow, but actually it's fine and that's Christmas all paid for now (except thank-you presents to neighbours).

Elsie296 · 18/08/2020 21:35

I can't decide if my toes are german or mongolian.
I once looked into getting toe extension surgery. That's my uninteresting contribution. 😂

Kittytheteapot · 18/08/2020 21:36

This may be too exciting, but I met my dh 30 years ago today. Smile

Gingerkittykat · 18/08/2020 21:37

I took some stuff to the tip, then went to Subway and got a meatball sub on Italian herb and cheese bread, a peach iced tea and white chocolate and macadamia cookie.

We then went to Pets at Home and were disappointed they had no animals, what have they done with them? I bought two cat toys for my kitten and a tin of Applaws as a treat for my grumpy old man cat.

Going out again means more impulse buys!

SentientAndCognisant · 18/08/2020 21:37

30 blimey.Thats longer than most royal marriages
How you two meet?

PerkingFaintly · 18/08/2020 21:38

Also (big excitement), my neighbour put her bed out for the rubbish collection, and I saw it in time to scrounge the headboard. It's just perfect for a backrest I desperately needed.

Yes, we seem a rare breed these days.

I have told the story of how we met before on Mumsnet as it is quite special. If I told it again, I would blow my identity. But I'll say it was on holiday.

latheritup · 18/08/2020 21:41
@Tlollj
I think so and I’m trying to decide exactly the same thing. I think one foot is Norwegian and the other Egyptian.

@latheritup I have never heard of this so my unexciting news today is learning that edible glue exists.
It's for cakes Grin

Kermitsbiggestfan · 18/08/2020 21:42

I have orient toes. Had sausages on the camp stove at the beach today...and salad for tea.
