Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

My big lilac tree blew down taking a couple of flagstones with it.
I've ordered a skip for Friday.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 25/08/2020 17:30

@EggyPegg

Actually, I just tried to teach DS2. He got ragey with both methods. Elastic laces will be here tomorrow.
Have you tried the "Z" method Eggy? It's much easier because you don't have to pinch and hold the laces.

I bought two of the Cadbury's competition Dairy Milks to try. Coconut and blueberry. They didn't have the butterscotch one but I will look out for it.

sueelleker · 25/08/2020 17:43

My husband likes the blueberry one; I've not heard of the butterscotch.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 25/08/2020 17:50

That's because it's actually honeycomb, sorry!

Dinosauraddict · 25/08/2020 18:08

My DS got his first tooth. I'm so proud!!

Thighdentitycrisis · 25/08/2020 18:37

I’ve just been to Lidl and managed to leave without any of the bad things in my basket

sofato5miles · 25/08/2020 18:43

I habe a hangover and have done about 3 hours of my new jigsaw and think that is enough achievemnt for today

Babamamananarama · 25/08/2020 18:45

I ordered new school shoes for the children. I had to order quite a few sizes to get a good fit for each child, so today I had the thrilling task of returning the extra 5 pairs of shoes via the post office.

LBOCS2 · 25/08/2020 18:50

My new cross stitch kit has arrived. I'm looking forward to the DC going to bed so I can start it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/08/2020 20:09

DH bought porchetta, which is nice.

sproutsandparsnips · 25/08/2020 20:55

This is a lovely thread!
The bird feeder has been blown over in the wind and I picked it up and it blew over again so I have left it where it is and DH will have to address it tomorrow while I am in work.
I am quite excited as our hospital is due to have its very own Covid PCR testing machine and this will make my life very much easier. Maybe that is a little too exciting.
I have made a large amount of tomato sauce and cheese sauce for a lasagne for when my cousin and his family stay later in the week. Unfortunately they were camping nearby and were planning to visit on their way to a holiday cottage but have had to cut their camping short as their tent has blown down. So they have gone home, but happily will still visit on their way to their cottage Smile

My Labrador has diarrhea. We (me) decided that he should sleep outside in his kennel tonight. This is after I was awoken to 3 puddles of poop in the kitchen this morning. He had chicken and rice for dinner for his ailing tum. He chewed my mint plant so I assume that is the culprit. Broke the pot too. The great galump. I do love him really.

MutteringDarkly · 25/08/2020 21:20

@Cavagirl I am counting that as having achieved something today vicariously

@EggyPegg I think I had a similar experience. I had a call from a surveyor fairly soon after my email. He introduced himself and then gave a long pause - I think he was waiting for me to launch into a rant. When I just said "thank you for calling" and accepted the date and time he suggested without moaning, he didn't quite know what to do with himself Grin

Roystonv · 25/08/2020 21:21

For those who were wanting to know how I got on with my problem tax return, all sorted ........ I don't have to do one again unless circumstances change. What dulls this down to comply is the 40 minute wait.

KenDodd · 25/08/2020 21:28

My dog stole a biscuit yesterday. It was the last one so I had to go without.

Autumnchill · 25/08/2020 21:57

I've re-pressurised the boiler following a visit from the Gas Board to move our meter.

AdvicePleaseThankyou · 25/08/2020 22:24

Walked all the way to Tesco earlier and forgot my mask

Imissmoominmama · 25/08/2020 22:28

I have the raging squits, but thanks to this thread I’ve discovered my toes match my Greek name.

I am not Greek- I’m from Lancashire.

TawnyPippit · 25/08/2020 22:32

The dishwasher has broken. I foresee a lot of One Pot Dishes.

DS and DH are watching The Wire in the next room. There was a big dramatic crash and one of them said “Whaaaaaat???” and the other said “Nooooo!!!!” Then back to silence.

AnyFucker · 25/08/2020 22:42

It's feeling almost autumnal this evening. I do like autumn, but I hate christmas

EggyPegg · 25/08/2020 22:51

I think I have RSI in my elbow from the Bulky blanket Sad

Imissmoominmama · 25/08/2020 22:52

I hate Christmas too.

EggbertHeartsTina · 25/08/2020 23:02

I collected some rainwater for my indoor bonsai tree

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/08/2020 23:18

I also have the raging squits.

I forgot to wash the potato saucepan tonight when I did the washing up, so it's waiting on the side and I'll do it in the morning.

I'm worried that if I die in the night people will find the unwashed saucepan and conclude I was a slattern.

Redcrayons · 25/08/2020 23:20

Mines running a bit high. I’ll have to bleed the radiators this week.
