Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

Drinking coffee and listening to the rain. I bought a new machine for ease of making a mug of coffee, but only like the espresso pods so still have to boil the kettle for a mug.

ElectiveAffinities · 25/08/2020 08:47

I have Orient toes so waves back at Jemima

It is bucketing down with rain and blowing a gale, so the tortoise will be very disgruntled that he won't be able to go out into the garden. I'd planned a trip to the supermarket but I might put it off till tomorrow now. But I can at least make the bread I didn't make yesterday.

I lead a not in any way thrilling life.

moonlight1705 · 25/08/2020 08:49

Somewhere between African and Egyptian toes... At least my toes are from the same continent.

In other exciting news we also got a new microwave and got to sit in a parking bay in Currys to test out their 'I'm at the store' button. They brought it out to the boot with no contact at all.

We cut the grass yesterday whilst it was sunny which is lucky as it is raining hard now.

DD only has one more molar to come through before we have the full set done and dusted.

Thighdentitycrisis · 25/08/2020 08:53

Having a second cup of tea before the work day starts
It’s raining

loubieloo4 · 25/08/2020 09:21

I had a new microwave and a steam generator iron delivered yesterday.... actually I'm quite excited by the iron 😂

BlusteryShowers · 25/08/2020 09:25

I decluttered my kitchen worktops the other day and I quite like it. The only things I have out are the microwave, kettle, perfect prep and hand soap.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 25/08/2020 09:25

Somebody in the household has bought a 7 USB port.

I've asked for the current 4 USB port gadget.

However, I'm not holding my breath - there will doubtless be a sudden reason why somebody needs all 11.

BikeRunSki · 25/08/2020 09:31

I got a tax return. £102. Party!

BikeRunSki · 25/08/2020 09:35

Sorry. Too exiting for this thread.

Ninkanink · 25/08/2020 09:46

I got a tax return too! I think it was £57.

I will put it towards a birthday present for my DH.

singswithitsfingers · 25/08/2020 09:47

Raining here. Cat loves the rain and has come in soaking wet.

hedgehogger1 · 25/08/2020 09:52

@EmbarrassingAdmissions a while back we replaced some of our plug sockets with ones that had USB ports built in!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/08/2020 10:05

They issued an 'unusually strong'-strom warning for tomorrow.

Ariela · 25/08/2020 10:15

I got a cheque for last quarter's solar. £1297.21. Last quarter's was not read and I forgot to submit a reading, so it's double. Should net a record amount this year of approx £1800 due to all the sun - and we filled up on oil cheapy cheapy, so profit on energy for the year will be over £800.

It's raining so little solar power today.

ReallySpicyCurry · 25/08/2020 10:29

It is too rainy to go for a walk. Annoying

I'm going to make a lentil and sweet potato loaf with stewed red cabbage and apple for dinner.

Have ordered Autumn scented wax melts

Sun is out. If I believed the weather forecast my house would be blown away by now.

hamstersarse · 25/08/2020 11:56

It's now raining.

Very changeable weather today.

MutteringDarkly · 25/08/2020 11:59

I remembered to nudge the company supposed to be supplying me with a new front door, that it's so far been 2 weeks since they had my deposit and still not a whisper of a surveyor visit. So I'm no further forward but it feels like I am.

I managed to engage DD in some maths by involving smarties.

Spudlet · 25/08/2020 12:02

I went through DS’s clothes drawers yesterday and got rid of all the stuff he’s grown out of - it’s at the charity shop already. He now has a drawer for all his school uniform, one for t-shirts and shorts, one for long-sleeved t-shirts and pyjamas, one for trousers and jeans, and one for jumpers. I even got rid of all his outgrown socks and pants. I feel so unbearably smug about it all Blush

Yaottie · 25/08/2020 12:15

I'm only on page 16 of this thread but I'm worried I might forget to tell you what sort of toes I have. One foot is Greek and one is Egyptian. I've ordered the breadbin from earlier in the thread, we have been looking for one for ages.

I've just had an egg sandwich

FawnDrench · 25/08/2020 12:16

I've worked out that we use about double the amount of loo rolls in the downstairs toilet as we do in the upstairs one.

I might or might not bake a cake later.

My wisteria has re-flowered and looks rather fetching today.

YoYoYumYum · 25/08/2020 12:18

Sitting on the loo playing fetch with the dog. I can multi task.

YoYoYumYum · 25/08/2020 12:19

And type this post all at the same time! How fabulous am I?!

Lweji · 25/08/2020 12:20

@MutteringDarkly
Someone I know who works in this type of business has been complaining that they are flooded with customers. It seems that lots of people are doing house renovations for some reason. WinkGrin

@MutteringDarkly your post reminded me I need to cancel my Les Mills On Demand free trial which I just did - the last day was today!! Thank you you have literally saved me £25.
