Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I used diluted dettol to clean my bathroom floor today and it smells lovely and old fashioned.
This afternoon I'm going to ring opticians because the lenses in my glasses are getting scuffed, so I'd like new frames and lenses. Also, I fancy distance glasses and reading glasses, instead of current varifocals.
I like this thread!

I had a replacement hose for the hoover delivered today. Previous one was squashed so I couldn’t put the head on and have instead been hoovering with a 2 inch slightly flattened hose. Now I can hoover a whole 10 inch width at a time! But, now I have to hoover.

My toddler put himself to bed for a nap but isn’t sleeping, just chewing his bedding and giggling. He’s given himself hiccups.

DopamineHits · 25/08/2020 15:02

Ninkanink 150ml. Not super tiny, but less than half the size of the three 500ml water bottles I lugged around with me all summer!

I'm not signed in right now so can't find the ones I ordered, but like this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150Ml-Plastic-Water-Bottle-Mini-Cute-Water-Bottle-For-Children-Kids-Portable/402348587250?

I just finished watching Season 5 of Greenleaf on Netflix. It took 8 days. Good show.

SecretWitch · 25/08/2020 15:13

Day three of antibiotics for ear infection. 55 is the new 7, apparently.

lifeafter50 · 25/08/2020 15:14

The bottom door shelf of my fridge fell off
Too exciting for this thread!

I have Orient toes, but most thrilling discovery is that my feet are symmetrical-never looked at them together before.

This is my favourite thread -has made me very happy.

DramaLlama12 · 25/08/2020 15:27

alangarneristerrifying · 25/08/2020 15:40

@PerkingFaintly I knew it would be that song before I clicked on it!

Valambtine · 25/08/2020 15:40

In an exciting update to my earlier news, I did eventually go to the post office, and to my delight they did have a plastic envelope big enough for the item I needed to send.

I am about to empty and restack the dishwasher whilst listening to my audible story.

BwanaMakubwa · 25/08/2020 15:42

My daughter has eaten her lunchtime Club and carefully reassembled the wrapper in the hopes of fooling her lazy brother who hasn't collected his yet. It's the one on the left.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...
Trekkerbabe · 25/08/2020 15:47

I'm reading.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/08/2020 15:49

One of my husband's colleagues has to move out of his house and into a rental for three months while it's repaired (pyrite). He's finding it difficult to find a rental that allows pets. He has the same rare breed dog as we do (Glen of Imaal terrier) so I've been trying to persuade my husband to let us foster him. This news may be too exciting for this thread.

Borka · 25/08/2020 15:50

Perking I love that, totally sums up what happens whenever we have anything done to our house!

AdvicePleaseThankyou · 25/08/2020 15:55

My son needs a nap as hes sooo moany but it's too late in the day now-he wouldn't sleep tonight!

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 25/08/2020 15:57

Lots of things for me today....

Ordered Sharpies from amazon special offer 2 for £1 but you had to order 2 lots so after having a think I went for it Grin even happier when I checked out and had £2 credit on my amazon account so they were free!

My flamingo tree has been moved to the porch thing because of the wind.

Gutted that the dog groomers we use and the dog absolutely loves has closed down Sad

But the smallest thing has made me happy - just added 2 (they were on special) tubs of the most amazing ice cream to my online shopping that is being delivered tomorrow.

EggyPegg · 25/08/2020 16:05

I have just ordered both DC elastic no tie laces because DS1 really struggled with fine motor, and I'm sick of doing his laces on his new Converse. I could teach DS2, but I'm lazy and there's a lot to be said for laces that slip on and don't come undone.

However, I was just googling how to teach your child to tie laces and had ago at the Bunny Ears method on my own shoes and mind blown at how few steps there are. That said DH ties his the bunny method and says that his shoes are loose when he does it, to be compared to when I do his (as I did when he had a bad knee and couldn't bend). And holding both loops together feels so fiddly. So I'll die on the hill that my way is superior.

Purpleice · 25/08/2020 16:08

Cleared out some drawers. Found dd’s Blue Peter card- she turns 16 in a month!
Chips, eggs and peas for tea.

BikeRunSki · 25/08/2020 16:08

Our toilet seat broke last week. Replacement arrived today. I could fix it before DH gets in but I’m making jam. No gender stereotypes in this house....Grin

EggyPegg · 25/08/2020 16:10

Actually, I just tried to teach DS2. He got ragey with both methods. Elastic laces will be here tomorrow.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/08/2020 16:20

I just won against DD playing Qwirkle.
A rare occasion - I am slightly excited but will calm down in a minute.

SunshineCake · 25/08/2020 16:27

@OLGADEEPOLGA

I've just walked past a black jumper and said hello to it, thinking it was the cat. I'm now off for a sit down.
This made me laugh.

I hovered under my sofa cushions today. DH side was messier than mine. Under the cushions I found three pens including my favourite one that I didn't know was missing.

Taswama · 25/08/2020 16:38

Ds1 (13) watched the Simpsons for the first time on Friday night. He liked it, so decided to watch it again yesterday.

I've started doing C25K with the kids (we're on week 2). They seem to be enjoying it even though they moan a bit before we leave the house. Not sure if we'll be able to keep it up when schools go back though.

wherethewavesarehighest · 25/08/2020 16:44

Dp had organised the boiler service for today, but he didn't tell me. The guy turned up at the house and after much checking of calendars and addresses he checked the boiler. Oh how we chuckled.

WouldBeGood · 25/08/2020 16:52

My little dog is sleeping on my belly.
