Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

My fuchsia that fell over in the wind has been removed by the gardener. I've been passing by the empty space during the day and there has always been at least one bee flying in circles looking for it. I felt very guilty even though I have two other fuchsias in the front garden and whole bed of bee-friendly meadow flowers in the back garden.

@BloodyBollockingHell

I have Greek toes.

It’s the most exciting thing that has happened to me in 6 months.

This is mind-blowing stuff!!! Mine are Norwegian.
Mosaic123 · 24/08/2020 22:19

I ordered some BESTA storage units at IKEA today. I spent over £1000. I did not know this was possible. They are cheap for the amount of storage.

JustMeAndMyTins · 24/08/2020 22:25

@BloodyBollockingHell Well Christ - I don’t know if mine are Egyptian or Norwegian. What a conundrum.

WouldBeGood · 24/08/2020 22:35

In bed with a Horlicks.

FabulouslyFab · 24/08/2020 22:41

I have Egyptian toes
I have just walked home from my daughter’s house and now have an extra 17 calories to enjoy before bed, should I chose to do so

MutteringDarkly · 24/08/2020 22:41

I got way too invested watching the channel 4 job centre programme.

Another day passed when I failed to sweep the floors.

I forgot to read the meters. But I did measure DD's feet and ordered school shoes online.

missatrick · 24/08/2020 22:59

I'm reading up on the plot line for Cobra Kai and trying time decide if it will be worth watching, when it comes out in Netflix.
Oh, and I'm no longer constipated

Purpleice · 24/08/2020 23:00

In bed with a hot chocolate.

hamstersarse · 24/08/2020 23:08

I've got my new blue light blocking glasses on

Also I've left the lawnmower out in the garden and just seen torrential rain is forecast

Hellbentwellwent · 24/08/2020 23:10

I reorganised the boxes of Lego in the playroom and hoovered... Infact I hoovered all the wee fiddly bits I lost the patience for tidying

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 24/08/2020 23:11

I went to the dentist today...Tbf it was the most exciting thing I've done in WEEKS! It's a 40minutes car journey and boy did I enjoy that time away from all the kids and DH - listening to the radio whilst I drove...it was bliss!

Zany15 · 24/08/2020 23:12

I replied a scratch on the car this morning.

FunnysInLaJardin · 24/08/2020 23:26

we paid a £500 deposit for plantation shutters to go in our bedroom. A bit miffed that the balance is due before they have come to fit them, but hey

FunnysInLaJardin · 24/08/2020 23:33

apparently my Bumble and Bumble hair curling creme is still stuck in the Netherlands 3 weeks later. This by all accounts is due to Covid, even though they did manage a successful delivery 2 weeks ago..... in Germany. We live in Jersey......

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 24/08/2020 23:41

I cut the hawthorn hedge today and was going to mow the lawn but it started to rain so I didn’t. I still need to trim another bush but it has fairy lights on it and I can’t be bothered to take them off. My DH puts lots of lights around the garden - I’m surprised a plane hasn’t tried to land.
PS can’t decide what feet I have. They look different when I stand up....

Please can I be nosy and ask how much they will cost in total? I’d love them, but am put off by the price. Without actually knowing what it might be.

Cobra Kai? Is this a Karate Kid spin off [goes to Google]. It IS!! Might just have to watch it just for laughs.

I am now into my third ball of the Bulky yarn and my fingers hurt. I have spent the evening binge watching Four In A Bed (I love it! Nothing happens!) and googling retirement dreams in France, namely where to relocate that offers easy access to both the sea and the pistes. I'm 38 on Wednesday.

Beebopbad · 25/08/2020 06:47

@EggyPegg My god I think that's my retirement dream too. I knew there was a reason I studied French.

I took my glasses to Specsavers, which I trod on at the start of lockdown. To my dismay they are not fixable, but to my joy they are replaceable for only £39, for the same frame again. I'm sure the frame cost more but question I did not. This is last weeks news but I'm still riding it. They should be ready in a week.

soddingkitten · 25/08/2020 06:58

@billydilly

One of our cats has gone off Dreamies so I've bought him the Waitrose own brand, he likes those better.
I discovered Sainsburys ‘Pockets’ in the cat food aisle on a rare visit to the supermarket (online shopper usually). Our cat likes them better than Dreamies and they are half the price.

The plumber fixed our shower thermostat yesterday. I had my first hot shower after months of tepid showers throughout lockdown. At the start we decided it wasn’t a life or death emergency, so we didn’t call him out for ages. In hindsight, we should have called him sooner.

ShakerCan · 25/08/2020 07:29
I knew this would be Rachael’s Rice Pudding before I clicked. It’s truly the most amazing.

I’m going to pickup a small bedside cabinet from Homebase today. It’s raining.

Jemimatheragdoll · 25/08/2020 08:25

I love this thread purely for the ordinariness of everyone's day to day lives-unless of course you're all lying just to make this thread more ordinary and in fact all live supremely exciting lives!

In any event, it seems that orient toes are fairly rare around here - a little wave to fellow orient toes

HelloDulling · 25/08/2020 08:28

Haircut for DS this morning. Might go mad and treat myself to a coffee while we are out.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 25/08/2020 08:32

If it stops raining and the wind isn't too bad we will go to the park later.

The DC were watching cartoons nicely upstairs but now I can hear 3yo DS getting aggro at poor DD. I might have to go intervene in a second.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/08/2020 08:35

It's turned cool - only 16°C at the moment.
I've been to the bins (104 steps down and up again) to the grey waste. Paper not due to be emptied this week.
