To Have Murderous Thoughts About Colleague?

Mansplanation · 08/08/2018 20:34

I’m leaving my job and my replacement was hired, so I’m handing over.

Today he’s been reviewing my work over the last few months to get familiar with the accounts and when I asked how he was getting on, his reply was ‘it’s all quite good actually! I’m really surprised!’ Hmm

Later in the day, he commented that ‘you’re actually quite good at your job aren’t you?’

Then ‘well done, this looks like you planned it this way’

He also proceeded to explain my job to me in great detail. Over. And over. And over again. All the while, asking very very basic questions and eventually I said ‘yep, that’s very standard, have you not seen that before?’ To call him out on it and he replied ‘yeah I have, I just wanted to see if you knew why it’s done that way’

I DID FUCKING PLAN IT THAT WAY, IM VERY GOOD AT MY JOB AND YOU ARE REPLACING ME BECAUSE IM MOVING TO A MUCH, MUCH MORE SENIOR ROLE YOU INTOLLERABLE, MANSPLAINING SHART GOBLIN Angry

Somebody PLEASE lend me their willpower because I’m one ‘well done’ away from stapling a gold star to his fucking forehead.

I need to bite my tongue so I can leave and get to my new job but I’m really bloody struggling Sad

What else has he done that you don't know about yet?

BrynhildurWhitemane · 13/08/2018 20:03

What else has he done that you don't know about yet?

I hadn't got this far, I'd be looking into what else he had access to.

bertielab · 13/08/2018 20:11

Sounds like he is really vengeful and I'm sure your company's legal team are on it. Although it is really HR's job to get him locked out of email and systems as soon as he is fired.

All's well that ends well.

KarlDilkington · 13/08/2018 20:30

QR , half way through, but you sound just as arrogant as him Confused

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 13/08/2018 20:50

Whaaaaaat????? Shock

KateGrey · 13/08/2018 20:51

I really hate when shitty behaviour is immediately associated with autism. He could just be arsehole!

Sounds like you’ve had one hell of a start to the week OP. Hopefully the police get involved. What an utter cunt!

colbyandmontysmum · 14/08/2018 01:28

Delurking to say I'm glad you managed to save the day! But...has IT finally got around to deleting his access??

Ozbird36 · 14/08/2018 06:44

Ha ha! Love it.

Mansplanation · 14/08/2018 07:33

The ‘what else has he done’ comment has worried me, I’m going to spend the day going through everything with a fine toothed comb.

I was working until 1am last night and had to be up at 5am Sad Credit where credit’s due, he’s totally screwed me over.

VelociraptorRex · 14/08/2018 07:37

I wonder if he's done this to other companies? Poor you OP, huge respect to you for trying to sort it out rather than sitting back like a lot of people I know would, hope you've got plenty of coffee Brew

CrabbityRabbit · 14/08/2018 07:51

What an utter, utter fuckwit he is.

How horrible for you OP to have all this shit to deal with overshadowing what should be a positive end of your role. You have behaved above reproach though and everyone seems to see that. Flowers

BolleauxtoBankers · 14/08/2018 11:58

If he was as incompetent as your original posts implied, I'm wondering at his being able to cause such financial havoc all by himself after such a short time Grin He must have had hidden depths!

MrsSarahSiddons · 14/08/2018 12:05

Have you reported him to the police yet?

Ozbird36 · 14/08/2018 13:24

RTFT means what?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 14/08/2018 13:44

RTWT stands for read the whole thread, Ozbird. You hadn't bothered to RTWT which meant your post was pointless. You don't need to read every comment but it's considered poor form not to read the OP's updates. OP = original poster.

CloudPop · 14/08/2018 14:22

Correctile dysfunction 😂😂😂

CloudPop · 14/08/2018 15:26

Sorry posted whilst at the start of the thread as was so amused by the term. Sorry to hear the turn this has taken and hope you manage to resolve things.

NonStickTinWok · 14/08/2018 15:48

I found this thread yesterday and have been enthralled! And am now gobsmacked at what SG has done!! I really hope it gets resolved for you OP, and that SG gets his comeuppance. He is definitely due some karma! Shock

Mansplanation · 14/08/2018 18:31

I havent reported him no, it’s not my place and it’s out of my hands now.

Today I’ve gone through everything and other than just some standard run of the mill incompetence, I can’t find anything else untoward in the accounts.

I did however find a couple of emails he sent to another male member of staff slagging me off Hmm

OP posts:
acatcalledjohn · 14/08/2018 18:46

Bloody hell. You'd think the IT company have some explaining to do and may well be liable for any losses you may not be able to recover.

SG has likely also ruined his career, and spectacularly at that.

FiestaThenSiesta · 14/08/2018 19:58

“SG has likely also ruined his career, and spectacularly at that.”

Well Chinese whispers maybe but the OPs company can’t go around publicly accusing him of anything to others in the industry. And logging in with a password isn’t a smoking gun that you did it - just that you allowed someone else access to your laptop and assumed the password was no longer valid. It sounds like the legal fees would outweigh actual damage, since OP managed to get refunds.

Tara336 · 14/08/2018 20:05

I went PT due to ill health, was involved in recruiting the Neanderthal that was taking over part of my job. He made it clear from day one he felt he knew more than me and I gave up trying to be helpful in the end. He was very specific about me not interfering in one particular job which I had a lot of knowledge about, he fell flat on his face and I enjoyed telling him “but you didn’t want or need my help”

Graphista · 14/08/2018 20:14

How did the other male member of staff respond to those emails? If they did.

acatcalledjohn · 14/08/2018 23:13

I'm not suggesting public accusation, but if this goes to court that will go against him for future jobs assuming HR people do the proper checks. I once had a colleague who got a job with a competitor and who, prior to leaving, saved a great deal of proprietary data on to a personal device. His new employer was notified of this. Although that would have been mostly to preserve their own position in the industry, it cannot have done his reputation any favours.

But you are right, if the OP has done sufficient fire fighting then he could end up being one lucky shart goblin.

rednsparkley · 14/08/2018 23:54

Holy Crap!! I have just RTFT and am speechless!!
