CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL - TUESDAY 12th - FRIDAY 15th MARCH 2019

The offers I am planning to take advantage of are:-

  • Skybet - money back as cash if you lose - up to £20 - 1st Race every day of the festival. Expected Value: £16 per day, £64 in total
  • betway - if your horse loses in the first or last race at Cheltenham each day, we’ll refund you with a Free Bet up to £/€10 in each race. Expected Value: £6 per race, £48 in total
  • Ladbrokes - £1 free bet each day of the festival. Expected Value: £0.70 per race, £2.80 in total
  • William Hill - I have a few £5 free bets already set up which should credit to be used on Tuesday.
  • Matchbook- £20 free bet sign up offer.

I'm interested in the extra place offers offered by Betfred & Paddy Power but don't think I know enough about horse racing to do these and also I will only be online early morning and evenings after 9pm. Also the double winnings at Coral are interesting. I wish I understood the offers at Betfair Sportsbook & Exchange as these are probably good too. I might look into all these a bit more.

I've discounted using Racebets and Sportspesa as they have bad reviews and/or are super quick to gub. I didn't get the Bet365 offer Sad or I'd be taking full advantage of that!

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm feeling a bit bamboozled, so much so that I'm just want to close the laptop down and run away and forget the whole thing is happening! So to keep my sanity, I'm probably going to choose just a few good offers as listed above and concentrate on those and maybe some Cheltenham casino offers too. I'm aware there's stacks of cash to be made though, hopefully you are going for the big £££! That being said, I'd absolutely love your tips and to hear your plans so thay we can make some money together! It's also be interesting to know targets. Mine is £250 for the week but this will include weekly stuff (bet clubs, price boosts, darts) and also casino.

If anyone has bet as a matched bettor at Cheltenham before, I (and am sure everyone!) would be grateful for your advice and help so please post!

One question - most of my £££ is across various bookies and Smarkets. Is it best to withdraw & have it at Betfair as theyll have better/only horse odds?

misstiggiwinkle · 10/03/2019 09:10

I have all my £ at Betfair as I just find it easiest but I'm going to give it a boost just to make sure I have enough liquidity for multiple bets a day

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/03/2019 09:16

I’m working all next week and won’t be in a position to make the most of the offers. I’ll have a look at the odds before I leave for work but not hopeful they’ll be close at 7.30 am! If they’re not I’ll just place a SkyBet on the first race and hope it wins (if it doesn’t I get the £20 back anyway so therefore no loss).

Less user about doing that for 2nd/3rd/4th money back as that wouldn’t be guaranteed.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/03/2019 09:17

What’s the bet365 offer? I normally get those but haven’t had one through yet.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/03/2019 09:18

I’ve got a couple of the William hill £5 free bets too, but again I think I might just have to place them without laying. So frustrating.

DonkeyScramble · 10/03/2019 09:19

I spent yesterday writing a day by day to-do list for Cheltenham and prepped my spreadsheet with all the bet info I can pre- populate to save time on the day. Tues is busiest as all the FB earned already seem to be for day 1. Some of the offers are not risk free, you can lock in profit but it's a very small amount so better off laying as usual and hoping it pays off. E.g. if an offer is to refund your stake if your horses places then find a close match, lay as normal and hope it places. If it does, you win! If it doesn't, you make small QL. Same goes for double winnings offers.

Golden0ldie · 10/03/2019 09:23

Have a look at Team Profit, they have several Countdown to Cheltenham videos which are really informative. Interestingly, in yesterday’s video, Tom’s advice was to balance all your books last night and withdraw all money back to your bank so you don’t get caught with it tied up in bookies or at the exchange and waiting for it to come back in. I did a few withdrawals at the end of the week and two yesterday but have left some money in the accounts I know I am going to use - SkyBet, Paddy, Bet365, Boyle, a little in Will Hill but will probably whack in on GG today. My exchanges are back to about £120/150 in each of Smarkets and Betfair but will use Betfair as much as possible despite 5% com due to really speedy withdrawals.

I’m gubbed at Coral, Netbet and Betway which is a pain as all have good offers.

I have signed up for Bethard as they have a good offer, Matchbook are on my signup list and, despite knowing about fast gubbngs, am tempted to try Racebets, even a couple of free bets will make it worthwhile,. I have a SportPesa account but am following the OM threads and sitting tight as they do have good offers but keep changing the terms which ain’t good. TP and OM also say to keep an eye on Unibet as they usually have good offers.

Haven’t set myself any targets but to do what I can with the money
and time I have.

miltonroad · 10/03/2019 09:41

Have you checked your actual messages on bet 365 mine didn’t show as a pop up or email but was in messages

DonkeyScramble · 10/03/2019 10:07

Golden, if Racebets gub you your £ is stuck there until you satisfy the welcome offer wagering game requirements. They make it extremely difficult to lay any bets once gubbed so you are unlikely to come away with any profit.

misstiggiwinkle · 10/03/2019 10:08

I've just checked my bet365 and nothing Angry. I've been doing a number of mug bets there two so I'm surprised. Very annoying. Would have loved the £50 one!

YesQueen · 10/03/2019 10:12

I'm planning to do - I have it written out like this so I know what I'm doing!
Skybet (risk free calculator set retention to 100%)
Bet 365 £25 free bets (normal calculator)
William hill free bets earned from football
Coral (win bonus calculator)

thefavourite · 10/03/2019 11:04

Hello!

Nothing in my Bet365 messages, ggrrrr!

@DonkeyScramble, share your list!

@Golden0ldie, thanks for the TP video tip, they were great! I now have a much clearer idea about my plan for Tuesday morning and will watch a couple of the videos again tomorrow.

I am working next week too and definitely can't follow things live and will have to place my back and lay bets very early in the morning!! Probably when I get up with my early rising child at the back of 4am!

DonkeyScramble · 10/03/2019 11:07

I'm using the list from oddsmonkey. There's a special page on the forum.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/03/2019 11:17

I’ve got a bet365 offer! Thanks for suggesting looking in messages miltonroad. Are you sure you’ve looked properly OP?

KOKOagainandagain · 10/03/2019 11:35

I had a number of unmatched lays on horses backed with PP on Betfair that I checked this morning to see how close the advertised odds were to the odds that I had laid at and they were all there. Half an hour later I was filling in my profit tracker spreadsheet and wanted to check which exchange I had laid at and they had disappeared. I thought they had been matched but no. The bets seem to have been cancelled and the stakes returned to my account. Does anyone know what is going on? The back bets are still open at PP. My brain hurts Confused

miltonroad · 10/03/2019 12:33

Unmatched lay bets are cancelled if there’s a horse removed from the race as it’s a change in the markets - that might have caused it?

KOKOagainandagain · 10/03/2019 13:36

The bets are still open with PP. Just tried to lay again and the exchanges all say 'SUSPENDED'. What the hell is going on?

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/03/2019 13:58

Skrill will be quicker to withdraw and deposit with, at the end just tip it all into the exchange and withdraw from there.

So far I’ve got one £5 who bet and the star sports £25. I had most of this week off, next year I’ll have to have chelters week off.

I imagine the grand nationals the same

Coppermine · 10/03/2019 15:51

Hello (waves)

Joining you all here from the other thread.

I'm sooo annoyed I haven't got the bet365 offer! I've checked my messages (multiple times) and definitely nothing. I did get the recent footie ones but I've never placed a horse bet with them so maybe that's why. I did place a muggy couple of horse bets today to see if it triggers anything.

I'm not feeling very prepared for Chelts yet. Hopefully the toddler will nap tomorrow afternoon and I can get fully prepped then.

I'm keen to hit £2k by end of March and currently at £1.5k so it's doable if I get stuck in to Cheltenham! Would have been more doable if Bet365 were more generous 😫

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/03/2019 16:02

The oddsmonkey chelters thread is worth a read, if you click on community it’s at the top.

thefavourite · 10/03/2019 16:26

Yes I've read it, but here feels more friendly and supportive.

Fairyliz · 10/03/2019 18:27

Re the Betway offer; I read it as £10 free bet on first AND last race each day. However further down in the t & c it seems to suggest it was either. Any thoughts it’s a bit ambiguous

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/03/2019 18:46

Sorry, I meant to use it as a reference guide.

thefavourite · 10/03/2019 19:28

TP Tom seems to think betway is first amd last race of each day.

Oh. My. God. Our internet has died and we have to wait for a new router. No mobile reception at home. Disaster.
