Thanks for starting a new thread @Nic2908
And thanks for your kind words. I agree i find it really useful to be so honest on here & know other people get it. Wow you have done amazing to lose a stone! That’s such good going. I’m also going to focus on my health & get some new vitamins. Before I got pregnant I was going to try reflexology so going to book in for that now.
Have you had a referral to a miscarriage clinic?

Thanks for your kind words too H20202

FullMoon1917 · 02/05/2024 06:16

@Nic2908 thanks for starting the new thread! Amazing on your weight loss, i gained a load after my loss and only just got rid of it but could do with losing some more!

@Figtree11 sorry that you're having to go through all this again, and in fact its breaking my heart to see how many names are coming back. It just doesnt seem right xxx

I've been doing acupuncture for 8 weeks now, and I do think its helped eith the emotional processing of it all bizarrely, has anyone else tried it?

Loz365 · 02/05/2024 08:00

@Figtree11 I'm so sorry to hear about your ordeal yesterday. Those sort of things just add to the uncertainty 😔 Crossing everything that you get seen quickly today.

Jellybelly888 · 02/05/2024 08:42

@Figtree11 sending my thoughts for today and I really hope you have your surgery xx

CurlyWurly1991 · 02/05/2024 09:26

@Figtree11 I hope the surgery all goes well today and you are back home by the afternoon to begin to recover. It’s just so hard when you can’t move forward because the horrible physical bit has to get out of the way. I do think surgery is the kindest approach and everyone I interacted with at hospital was so kind and gentle with me, I hope you have the same and are well looked after today 💐

I’m now a few days on from surgery and grateful that I don’t ‘feel’ so pregnant any more. The nausea and fatigue was hanging around but last night I slept through for the first time in many weeks. Still fell asleep crying and woke in tears though 😔 I’m going to the gym just for a gentle work out and use of the steam and sauna which I hope is OK at this stage. Not going to use the pool even though I stopped bleeding quite soon after surgery, I don’t want to risk infection so might leave it another week or so.

Nicole90134 · 02/05/2024 10:42

I’ve taken both doses of the misoprostol now first dose at 7am second at 10 and the tablet on Tuesday and I’ve had nothing. No bleeding last couple of days and nothing today. I know everyone is different but is this normal? Really hoping I’m not in the small percentage it doesn’t work on really don’t want to have the surgical option. X

FullMoon1917 · 02/05/2024 11:20

@Nicole90134 how far along were you? My medical ended up failing (had a lot of clots etc with first dose but nothing with second), and ended up passing naturally about 4 weeks later. I've found out since that the further along you are the less likely medical works, I was 11 weeks and I wish I had known that at the time.

I didnt call the EPU till 3 weeks after when my tests were still positive and I started getting really bad cramps, and they were a bit reluctant to see me at first to be honest so there could be a chance they tell you to wait unfortunately.

Nicole90134 · 02/05/2024 11:22

Oh they never told me that. I was 9 weeks, they said they would ring me later today to see how i am. Hoping something starts soon as I was looking forward to being able to move on x

FullMoon1917 · 02/05/2024 14:41

@Nicole90134 they didnt tell me that at the time or I would have opted for surgery, its something I found out online after. It may be mine was out of the ordinary? I was told originally to go back if nothing happened in a week, but as i passed clots after the first tablet I didn't bother.

Hope something happens for you soon, the waiting is so tough. I think there's things you can do to try and speed things along (raspberry leaf tea etc) but I couldn't speak from experience.

Figtree11 · 02/05/2024 14:53

Thanks for all thinking about me. I got taken down around 9.30, so thankfully wasn’t waiting by long at all. All went as well as it could, so I’m just waiting on the discharge papers now so that I can go home.

I was feeling nervous, but you really have no clue what is going on! Had some very mild period pains & a bit of bleeding, but apart from that I’m pretty much feeling my normal self

Nicole90134 · 02/05/2024 15:38

I don’t think it has worked fully. I had the most excruciating pain for about two hours with no blood, I passed a little bit of blood with no tissue and that has been it x

jellyfish2 · 02/05/2024 19:12

@Figtree11 I was just about to post on the old thread to see how you got on. Glad it went well, how are you feeling now?

Figtree11 · 02/05/2024 19:27

Thanks @jellyfish2 im doing ok thanks. Glad to be back home. Got the odd very mild tummy ache every now and then and not much bleeding at all for now

Figtree11 · 02/05/2024 19:30

Sorry to hear this. I had medical at 8wks last year and I passed it all within the day. Would be worth ringing the EPU
If you do end up having to have surgical, I had mine today and I was really nervous but apart from the delay in getting to theatre, it’s been so easy compared to the pain I was in with medical

Nicole90134 · 02/05/2024 19:33

Thanks they rang me to check on me and said they would try and get me in for a scan tomorrow. I just didn’t like the idea of surgical but feel like I’m going to end up having it anyway. Glad yours went well once they finally got you in! I was so oblivious to a miscarriage being this drawn out and traumatic x

Figtree11 · 02/05/2024 19:42

I’m glad they are seeing you tomorrow @Nicole90134 and you get a plan of action.
The process is horrible isn’t it, you just want to be able to draw a line under it & try move on as best as you can

H20202 · 02/05/2024 21:31

@Figtree11 so glad you had your op today and hopefully you’re at home being well looked after?

@Nicole90134 ah sorry things haven’t progressed today. I took mifepristone first then 4 Misoprostol vaginal pessaries.
was this the same for you?
I was told to call back for more pessaries within 24 hours if it didn’t work.
did you call the EPAU?

xx

Nicole90134 · 02/05/2024 21:44

I took mifepristone on Tuesday then four misoprostol pessaries this morning at 8 then a further two at 11 then had the worst cramping ever! I’ve had 7 tablets all together including the one I took on Tuesday.
I’m in disbelief at how much pain I was in and I would say I’m quite tolerant to pain it was so bad I was sick and then I passed like the tiniest bit of blood no more then I’ve been spotting for the last couple of weeks and it all just stopped. I’m starting to get a few cramps now, more like period pains and if I go to the bathroom I am bleeding but I haven’t even filled a pad all day and deffo haven’t passed any tissue. I’m now actually pooping my pants for when I do get pregnant and go into labour I always imagined I would cope ok but after today I’m not sure 😓

Nicole90134 · 02/05/2024 21:47

And yes i have spoken with them, they rang to see how I was getting on at tea time they said they would see if they can get me in tomorrow for a scan x

Figtree11 · 02/05/2024 21:49

Thanks @H20202 i have a very lovely DP who is looking after me. And a mum who has brought round chocolate & cake!

@Nicole90134 the pain is horrific, it’s definitely what I imagine labour must feel like! I swore I would never do the medication again as I couldn’t cope with it at home again with the pain relief they give you

Nic2908 · 02/05/2024 21:54

For what it’s worth when I lost my baby at 16 weeks last year I had to have medical management to induce labour. It was exactly what labour felt like with my three year old. It’s one of the main reasons I opted for surgical this time round. I couldn’t imagine going through that pain and trauma at home with no professional support. It’s already such a vulnerable time. You’re an absolute rockstar. I hope the scan will be ok for you

H20202 · 02/05/2024 21:59

I mean the fact they give you codeine - which is for mild to moderate pain when you are basically having contractions - severe pain - is just laughable really.
Didn’t touch the sides for me - I swore blind I was never getting pregnant again in the middle of it 😂

@Figtree11 good to hear - take it very very easy for the next week or so xxx

Shit, so sorry it’s not worked… what a fuckin nightmare.
I saw online that some people take the tabs orally so wondered if that had happened hence it not working.
I wonder if your cervix is def open to allow the tissue or pass or if it’s gotten stuck and that’s why you’re cramping is so bad but nothing passing.
hopefully you’ll go in for your scan and they’ll sort it there and then for you. Prepare just incase you end up staying in for a few hours.
so sorry, let us know how you get on xx

SErunner · 02/05/2024 22:20

Hello everyone, would you mind me joining? I had a scan at what I thought was 7+3 which showed a 6w embryo with a heartbeat. Went back today two weeks later to find no heartbeat and only a little growth so confirming a delayed miscarriage. I have an appointment at EPU tomorrow but am really not sure what to do. I'd like this 'physical' aspect to happen as soon as poss but have some important events this weekend I can't miss. I am worried about going down the medication route in case this is slow/painful to the extent I can't cope with the events I can't miss, but equally the idea of delaying for surgery feels horrible right now. I'd appreciate any insights.

I feel so emotionally exhausted. I'm very grateful to have had a daughter via IVF in 2021 but multiple rounds to conceive a sibling have since failed. This was my first natural conception in 6 years and without wanting to have a massive pity party, it just feels so fucking unfair. So sorry you all find yourselves here too and sending huge empathy to all.

H20202 · 02/05/2024 22:30

@SErunner so sorry for your loss 💔i
i picked up my meds from EPAU and took them a day or so later as opposed to that day as I had things I couldn’t miss coming up. I managed fine working for the 48 hours after taking the first oral tab but you will def not be able to work once you’ve had the pessaries and it’s stated.

perhaps sort a few days next week that you can take off and schedule in with the hospital when you’ll be in to get the meds or book in for the surgery x
